Prior experience in providing clerical support and performing reception duties will be advantageous.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Must write and speak fluent English and fluency in isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans will be advantageous.
Previous experience of working at an exhibition, museum or heritage site will be valuable.
Experience with event setup, hosting and the welcoming of large groups of visitors would be advantageous
First Aid certificate would be highly advantageous
A valid Code EB driver’s licence will be highly advantageous
Knowledge of City programmes and processes will be valuable
Must be physically fit
Willingness to work after hours, weekends and public holidays when required.
Key Performance Areas
Access control and visitor management at the exhibition, classroom, office and areas of the greater City Hall as required in order to monitor the inflow and outflow of visitors and to ensure orderly conduct.
Opening and closing of the exhibition and adjoining spaces
Provide visitors and various stakeholders with information about the exhibition and education programmes, City Hall and the surrounding precinct.
Manage and respond to all routine enquiries, correspondence and bookings from internal and external stakeholders (in person,telephonically and via e-mail).
Administrative and clerical support, including filing and safekeeping of records and documents (hardcopy and digital formats).
Statistical monitoring and reporting with regard to exhibition visitors, event attendees, meeting participants, etc.
Assist with exhibition maintenance and cleaning, as well as managing the general tidiness of adjoining spaces.
Creation, placement and updating of exhibition notice signage

Monitoring and procurement of resources, supplies and assets
Supervise and mentor junior and EPWP staff, interns, students and volunteers.
Provide assistance as needed with anything else that is required for the proper functioning of the exhibition and unit.
