    Head of Entertainment & Amp; Events (Sandton)

    Description

    • The Head of Entertainment & Events is accountable for developing and executing a commercially focused entertainment and events strategy that maximises revenue, builds strategic partnerships and positions Sun International as a premier destination for world-class entertainment experiences.
    • This role drives growth through strategic deal-making, innovative programming and the effective utilisation of venues and brand assets, ensuring that every event and partnership contributes to sustainable business performance, market competitiveness and exceptional guest engagement. 

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Define and implement a commercial entertainment and events strategy that drives revenue growth, venue utilisation and profitability
    • Provide strategic oversight and commercial direction for Sun International's portfolio of major sporting events (e.g., Nedbank Golf Challenge, Sunshine Tour), ensuring they align with brand and revenue objectives, while relying on operational event teams for execution
    • Identify, negotiate and secure high-value entertainment deals and partnerships that deliver strong financial returns and align with brand strategy
    • Develop innovative commercial models and partnership structures to increase revenue, optimise occupancy and enhance the guest experience
    • Use market intelligence and data insights to inform strategic decisions and continuously improve the return on event investments
    • Lead negotiations with promoters, agencies, production companies & brand partners securing mutually beneficial deals to grow revenue & exposure
    • Build, negotiate and manage partnership agreements with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Sun’s business and brand objectives
    • Pursue strategic alliances & joint initiatives to unlock new income streams, enhance market reach and strengthen the brand’s entertainment offering
    • Ensure all contractual and commercial terms are optimised for profitability and comply with Group policies and governance standards
    • Oversee the planning, execution and performance of entertainment events across all Sun International venues and properties
    • Collaborate with Big 4 Properties to align event strategies, operational plans and transitions where necessary
    • Ensure exceptional quality and guest experience across all entertainment and event activations, maintaining brand integrity & operational excellence
    • Conduct post-event reviews to measure success, assess partner performance and inform continuous improvement
    • Be present and visible during major events to represent the brand, engage stakeholders and ensure flawless execution
    • Promote and grow the Sun brand through innovative entertainment concepts, high-impact events and strategic partnerships
    • Drive demand for venues by leveraging relationships with promoters, artists, entertainment agencies and sponsors
    • Develop creative promotional initiatives to attract audiences, such as bundled packages or exclusive offers that increase attendance & engagement
    • Represent Sun International at events, conferences and networking opportunities to position the brand as a leading entertainment destination
    • Partner with central marketing, digital & revenue management teams to package & market event offers to maximise customer interest & revenue
    • Align entertainment and event initiatives with the broader Group marketing and brand strategy
    • Ensure cross-property collaboration to maximise efficiency, share best practices and deliver a consistent entertainment experience across venues
    • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing entertainment and events team that delivers excellence and innovation
    • Coach and mentor event managers and specialists to build commercial capability, negotiation skill and strategic thinking
    • Identify and nurture high-potential talent within the entertainment and events function to ensure long-term capability growth

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Event Management or related field
    • 10+ years’ relevant experience in entertainment, events or venue management, inclusive of 5 years at senior management level
    • Proven success in revenue generation, partnership development and high-value deal negotiation within the entertainment or hospitality sectors
    • Established network within entertainment, live events and brand partnership industries
    • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale events, complex stakeholder relationships, and multimillion rand budgets

    Head of Sportsbook (SunBet) (Sandton)

    Description

    • The Head of Sportsbook is a senior leader responsible for co-shaping and executing the strategic commercial vision of sportsbook across all sports.
    • The role drives sustainable growth, profitability and market leadership by leveraging data-driven commercial insight, customer behaviour analysis and market intelligence to optimise pricing, offers and product positioning.
    • This role will ensure that sportsbook delivers compelling, differentiated proposition, maximises customer value and aligns vendor and internal capabilities with long-term strategic goals. 
    • Own the commercial performance of sportsbook, driving revenue, margin and customer engagement
    • Define and execute pricing, offers and promotions strategy to maximise both customer value and profitability
    • Use analytics and market insight to guide commercial decision-making, including testing, forecasting, and performance optimisation
    • Identify new opportunities to differentiate the sportsbook, grow market share and improve customer retention
    • Set daily and seasonal pricing strategies, ensuring competitiveness across key sports
    • Design and implement boosts, campaigns and event-driven promotions that create value for customers and drive engagement
    • Use segmentation and behavioural insight to personalise offers and improve lifetime value
    • Help shape the sportsbook product and markets in line with commercial priorities and customer demand
    • Balance competitiveness with sustainable profitability through risk and exposure management
    • Serve as a senior business lead for vendors, ensuring the platform delivers on commercial objectives, feature enhancements and operational excellence
    • Monitor vendor performance, including pricing engine functionality, market coverage and responsiveness
    • Identify opportunities to optimise vendor-provided products and services to enhance the sportsbook commercial performance
    • Partner with the Head of Analytics to ensure all commercial decisions are insight-led
    • Work with product, marketing, and CRM teams to ensure commercial initiatives are aligned and measurable
    • Lead, develop and inspire the sportsbook commercial team, fostering a culture of performance, innovation and accountability
    • Contribute to the wider Sportsbook Leadership Team with strategic commercial insight and planning
    • Ensure all sportsbook activity is compliant with regulatory and responsible gambling standards 
    • Manage exposure, limits andmarket integrity with vendors and internal risk

    Requirements

    • B Degree in Business, Economics, Sports Management or related field 
    • 7+ years’ relevant experience in sportsbook, gaming or commercial betting roles
    • Inclusive of 4 years’ experience in a leadership role, managing commercial teams, shaping pricing strategy and delivering revenue/margin growth

    Description

    • The Head of Sportsbook Analytics is responsible for leading the end-to-end analytics function for the sportsbook division, driving both commercial performance and player insights to optimise revenue, engagement and product outcomes.
    • This role oversees the collection, analysis and interpretation of data across all sportsbook operations, including betting trends, player behaviour, odds performance and promotional effectiveness.
    • By developing predictive models, dashboards and actionable insights, the Head of Analytics enables data-driven decision-making across product, marketing, risk and operations teams, ensuring that the sportsbook division maximises profitability, enhances the player experience and maintains compliance with regulatory and responsible gambling requirements.
    • Develop and execute the analytics strategy specific to sports betting, including odds optimisation, market analysis and product performance
    • Provide actionable insights to optimise betting margins, customer engagement and retention
    • Partner with the Head of Sportsbook to provide actionable insights that drive commercial performance, including revenue growth, margin optimisation and customer engagement

    • Monitor key performance indicators, including betting volume, odds accuracy, revenue and customer engagement
    • Work closely with product, risk, marketing and operations teams to align analytics with business goals

    Requirements

    • B Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science or related quantitative field
    • Data/analytics certifications; SAS, CAP, Python, R advantageous
    • 7+ years’ relevant experience in analytics, data science or related field
    • Demonstrable experience in predictive modelling, customer segmentation, LTV modelling, churn prediction and revenue optimisation
    • Strong experience with SQL, Python, R, and BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI
    • Experience building data pipelines, dashboards, and KPI tracking systems to support commercial decision-making
