Basic Qualifications

• Experience engaging with customer relationships at the CXO level
• Experience creating and implementing long-term transformational account strategies in a customer-facing role or equivalent

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Solutions Architect to join our thriving technical community and growing business. You will be part of the South African SA team at our Johannesburg office. As a member of our supportive team, you'll work to bring cloud computing technologies to large enterprise services customers.

Key job responsibilities

• In your role as an AWS Solutions Architect, you'll take ownership of the technical relationship with customers, providing expert recommendations on solution design, migration strategies, security, and best-practice architectures.
• Your influence will extend beyond customer interactions as a trusted advisor, as you'll also act as an internal advocate, driving continuous improvements to the AWS platform based on customer needs and feedback.
• You'll contribute to the AWS knowledge base by creating and sharing best practices, technical content, new reference architectures and re-usable artifacts (e.g. white papers, code samples, blog posts).

• We are growing our team in South Africa and are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations technical leader to operate as a Senior Chief Engineer and support the DCEO Cluster Manager as required, to join us in Cape Town.
• You will support a team of Facility Managers and Chief Engineers across the region and oversee the best in class operations and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure for data centers in AWS Cloud region.
• Our Data Centre Engineering Operations Managers are highly driven, self-managed individuals who demonstrates initiative mindset, proactively seeks solutions to problems and strives for operational excellency.

People Management:

Operations and Maintenance:

• Manage operations in a mission critical environment with high complexity and scale while ensuring not to jeopardize quality. • Execute strategic preventative maintenance and corrective break-fix planning on mission-critical infrastructures. Review and approve equipment maintenance and repair processes and procedures as well as the ability to tactfully drive continuous organizational change management.
• Manage a mission-critical operations environment with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS’s), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), and Transformers.
• Prepare for and leading the organization through facility infrastructure incident management plan. This includes event planning, drill coordination, leadership escalation, incident mitigation, and post event reporting and follow up.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure experience
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
• Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure

Key job responsibilities

• This Network Technician role supports capacity scaling across multiple data center locations. You will partner with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers.
• Manage work and priorities through ticketing system
• Managing small to large cabling projects within the data centers.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
• Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter connectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low to mid-level application interaction
• Troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.
• Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
• Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
• Strong prioritization and time management ability.
• Able to lift/move up to 15kg regularly with 2 persons or equipment support
• Work closely with our Network Engineering, Network Technical Project Manager teams and Third Party vendors to ensure fast, smooth rollout of established designs and products.
• Ability to travel within geographical work area is required, some travel outside traditional work area may be requested**

A day in the life

• You will be responsible for the scaling and physical deployment of new data center network infrastructure. As part of that team, the Network Scaling Lead will be primarily tasked with managing small to large cabling projects and deployment activities within the data centers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated individual with a willingness to learn and up-skill.
• The candidate must be able to perform repetitive tasks and adhere to standard processes and best practices. Candidates will be working in a team environment and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of TCP/IP networks
• Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
• Strong understanding of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, etc.) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF).
• Experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments, Professional experience with IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and Operational Excellence concepts or methodologies is a plus.
