    NGAP POSTS - QUANTITY SURVEYING (1) CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT (1)

     Minimum Requirements:

    • An NQF Level 9, master’s degree qualification in quantity surveying/construction management from an accredited institution or comparable institution, and;
    • Committed to pursuing a doctoral qualification in the construction management/quantity surveying discipline within the time permitted.

     Additional Requirements:

    • 2 years post-graduate experience in the quantity surveying/ construction management discipline.
    • Above average Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
    • Above average computer literacy and competency in quantity surveying/construction management, 3D/BIM computer-aided measurement software.

     Architecture

     Minimum Requirements:

    • A Master’s degree in Architecture and,

    Head of Departments

    Minimum Requirements:

    Full Professor

    Minimum requirements

    A Doctoral Degree for the relevant Department (Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing and Retail Studies, Public Management)

    • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience.
    • Sustained research track record of publications of at least 10 DHET accredited research outputs in the past 3 years.
    • Track record of supervision and graduation of at least 5 master students and 3 doctoral students.
    • Sustained track record of external funding.
    • Evidence of collaborative linkages.
    • Evidence of external engagement.

    or

    Associate Professor

    • A Doctoral Degree for the relevant Department (Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing and Retail Studies, Public Management)
    • At least 7 years of academic and/or professional experience.
    • Evidence of sustained peer-reviewed publications, with at least 7 DHET-accredited research outputs in the past 3 years.
    • Evidence of sustained successful postgraduate supervision, with at least 1 Doctoral and 2 Master's students to completion.

    Senior Lecturer

    • A Doctoral Degree for the relevant Department (Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing and Retail Studies, Public Management)
    • Five (5) years’ experience in higher education
    • Demonstrate scholarship of teaching and must have produced/ published in the preceding three years three publication units (e.g. accredited book, chapter in a book, accredited creative output, patent, review article, journal article, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) in the preceding three years.
    • Supervision of at least one postgraduate student at Masters’ level.

     A candidate for Senior Lecturer must show proof of having been recognised as an excellent teacher as evidenced by:  

    • Exceptional knowledge of his or her subject matter/discipline.
    • Excellent classroom and tutorial performance.
    • Effective utilization of innovative teaching and assessment methods.
    • Very good communication and human relations skills.
    • Excellent performance as an academic advisor who encourages active learning among students and staff.

    HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

    Duration

    • Five (5) years fixed contract as an HOD, renewable for one additional term based on performance.

    Summary of duties:

    • Dealing with student queries and complaints regarding the Department;

    Managing and supervising staff which include:-

    • Providing leadership to the department in respect of Teaching & Learning, Research and Community Engagement.
    • Enhancing staff relations and building the team towards effective pursuit of the Envision 2030 strategic plan.
    • Representing the department in relevant institutional, regional and national fora.

    Senior Assets and Liability Management

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, or any other relevant qualification (NQF Level 7).
    • 3 to 5 years’ experience in asset management preferably in a higher education environment or a large organisation of which 3 years should have been in an asset management role.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements and rules applicable to asset management, structured finance
    • Understanding of IFRS and other relevant accounting standards

    • Provide data and information for the drafting, communication, and monitoring of the implementation of an operational plan for the effective running of the asset function.
    • Support the identification and communication of plans to protect and maintain assets and minimise any potential liabilities.
    • Support the review, updating and development of policies, procedures, and process to manage and safeguard asset management.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and identify non-compliance matters for escalation.
    • Support the management of DUT assets and student residence assets in accordance with DUT policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that accurate appreciation and depreciation costs are reflected in the finance system.
    • Develop contingency plans to protect and safeguard DUT assets in consultation with protection services.
    • Provide data and information for the review of the replacement vs the repair of movable assets and support the manager’s recommendations.
    • Ensure the timeous maintenance and repairs of assets and ensure adherence to budget provisions in liaison with the respective departments and services.
    • Reconcile systems data to asset registers. Report and investigate variances and submit monthly reports to the Manager Asset Management detailing variances and reasons for deviation.
    • Conduct an annual review of insurance suppliers through the DUT procurement process.
    • Ensure that asset-related documentation and records are saved and archived in accordance with the DUT document management system.
    • Support the management of delivery on service level agreements / contractual obligations with external insurers.
    • Support all liaisons with external stakeholders to address and resolve any asset or insurance-related matters.
    • Support engagements with insurers on insurance claims, renewals, and escalated queries.
    • Provide information and guidance to internal stakeholders regarding insurance queries and claims.
    • Prepare reports for the purpose of reporting to various structures as required, in accordance with the reporting schedule.
    • Review or draft asset related reports to internal and external stakeholders and submit to relevant stakeholders.
    • Compile and consolidate all relevant data, information, and statistics required for the drafting of the asset management report for submission to the Manager Assets and Liability Management. Support the manager in drafting and presenting the report.

    Institutional Planning Officer

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Honours Degree or equivalent (NQF 8) in a relevant discipline.
    • 5-8 years relevant experience in developing organizational strategic and operational plans.
    • Knowledge and understanding of strategic and operational planning and reporting principles.
    • Understand internal and external factors which impact on strategic direction of the Institution and ensure these are reflected in forecasts.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Office Management/Administration or Business Administration.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • At least 5 years of experience in a secretarial/administrative role, of which a minimum of 3 years must have been at an executive level.
