    Accounting Specialist - Midrand

    Purpose & Key Accountabilities

    • Responsible for all treasury, forex revaluation reserves, intercompany. 
    • Responsible for the compilation and preparation of exception reporting using data tools to monitor process adherence in the following area corporate accounting.
    • Reporting of financial information to external parties. (Stats SA, NAAMSA, SARB,NCR).
    • Forecasting relating to treasury, cashflow forecasting.
    • Preparation of treasury committee material for the treasury meetings monthly. 
    • Balance sheet month end submission. 
    • Management of students on accounting aspects delegated. 
    • Review of reconciliations prepared by students, training of students. 
    • Preparation of small company statutory financials statements. 
    • Responsible for ICS control documentation. 
    • Training the business on SARB (South African Reserve Bank) compliance. 
    • Preparing and ensuring timely submission and facilitating of any special SARB pre approval’s for foreign outgoing payments not covered in terms of the imports undertaking.

    Head of Accounting - Midrand

    Purpose of the Job & Key Responsibilities

    As Head of Accounting for BMW Group SA, you take overall responsibility for the financial statements towards external authorities as well as towards the local Board of Management (Actuals, Forecasts and Budget).

    Although daily operations for treasury trades are done as shared service from BMW SA Financial Services you also are managing the strategic medium- and long-term treasury requirements and ensure compliance with relevant Group Policies, Guidelines, Instructions and Procedures as well as external legislative requirements e.g. Of South African Reserve bank compliance for all areas of the business, and Company’s act governance aspects (Solvency, liquidity). Next to group reporting in terms of IFRS and E-GAAP, general ledger accounting and accounts payable, your tasks include payroll accounting and travel management.

    As Head of Accounting, you will also steer the external auditing process and the following-up on findings and prepare all monthly and quarterly closing documents and presentations. Ensuring the regular information exchange and alignment with Group Central FR Functions. You will also take accountability for the control environment within the areas of responsibility.

    Key Accountabilities

    Invoice Processing:

    • Receive, review, and process related vendor invoices in SAP.

    To contribute and enable a strategic and holistic approach to HR Development, by developing processes and tools to develop associates for current & future roles, whilst developing future talent and critical skills capability.

    Key accountabilities of the function

    Responsible to the Domain owners for the innovation, development and operation of the IT Domain and its related products and respective services throughout the entire life cycle. Providing technology innovation for SAP, Cloud, Data analytics as agreed with Domain owners. Influence on the design of the Group template solution for IT Products.

    General:

    • Ensure all relevant Audit points are transparently documented and directly manages their closure through a transparent process. 
    • Implement the IT Governance requirements (e.g. IT Security, IT Compliance, IT Risk and IT Architecture).

    • 15+ years working experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Automotive, Science, IT or related industries. 
    • 10+ years of experience in Senior Management (leading other managers) with exposure to Engineering or Manufacturing, IT, Sales and Marketing or Commercial functions.
    • 10+ years’ experience in international projects or working on international assignments.
    • 10+ years IT project management or Agile methodology experience.
    • As an advantage, additional general mixed experience in IT systems, infrastructure and application architectures and technologies e.g. Operating Systems, Networks, Servers, Databases, Backup, Storage and Archiving, Web Technologies (Internet, Intranet), End Devices, Security (Encryption, Authentication, Anti-Virus), middleware and connection interfaces.
