    Bosch Projects – Divisional Manager Sugar & Industrial – Durban

    Bosch Projects, a Level 1 B-BBEE company and a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings group of companies, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a dynamic Divisional Manager: Sugar & Industrial (KZN) who will undertake a leadership and strategic role in the business. This position will be based in the Durban Office and report directly to the Regional Director.

    The Sugar & Industrial Division undertakes industrial and sugar projects for both the public and private sector. Typical projects include multi-disciplinary engineering in the sugar and the industrial sector and related process plant projects.

    The Sugar & Industrial Division is also responsible for providing support to other Regional Offices, Bosch East Africa (Kenya), Bosch Engenharia (Brazil), Booker Tate (UK) Bosch Munitech and Bosch Capital for sugar and industrial projects.

    KEY  RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Developing, in consultation with the Regional Director, and Sector Director, a marketing and growth plan for the Division/Region, in line with the overall regional budgets, KPI’s and strategic growth targets.
    • Leading the bidding, negotiation, and marketing/business development processes in accordance with Bosch Projects’ ISO 9001:2015 accredited Quality Management System, to secure the annual regional/divisional turnover budget on a sustainable basis.
    • Line Management of Technical Leads (Structural, Mechanical, Process) within the multi-disciplinary division.
    • Overseeing the coordination and optimization of divisional resource utilization by Technical Leads to ensure that divisional profit targets are met.
    • Ensuring that all the Division’s projects are undertaken in accordance with the Quality Management System by the Technical Leads.
    • Ensuring that all applicable divisional engineering and technical standards are met by the Technical Leads.
    • Promoting growth and advancement of divisional staff by mentoring and application of the structured people management system.
    • Assisting the Regional Director and Sector Directors in planning resource requirements, and in recruiting suitable candidates.
    • Promoting synergy between Bosch Holdings operating companies.

    The ideal candidate should: 

    • Have a BSc/BEng Engineering degree in chemical/mechanical engineering or appropriate/similar qualification.
    • Be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
    • Have a minimum of 20 years’ appropriate post qualification experience.
    • Have at least 10 years prior experience in business development and work acquisition in a consulting engineering environment and in the industrial sector (sugar industry exposure will be an advantage).
    • Have broad experience of overseeing and implementing multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish.
    • Possess a detailed understanding of engineering activities required for consulting, engineering services, EPCM and EPC contracts.
    • Possess a broad understanding of, and have interacted with other design engineering disciplines, i.e., Process, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, and Electrical.
    • Have strong leadership, people management and marketing skills.
    • Be competent in understanding and managing all commercial, risk and financial aspects of bids, proposals and projects, including conditions of tender, conditions of contract / terms of appointment, work breakdown schedules, compilation of manhour fee schedules, etc
    • Be experienced in the compilation and submission of tenders and proposals for procuring consulting engineering work.
    • Be skilled in networking with potential clients / business partners in both the private and public sectors to secure work outside conventional tender processes.
    • Have a passion for excellence and be driven to lead the Division as a significant contributor to achieving Bosch Projects’ ambitious 2025 growth targets.

    Bosch Projects Senior Structural Engineer – Durban

    Bosch Projects, a Level 1 B-BBEE company and a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer. This position is currently based in Mount Edgecombe and remotely as a hybrid work arrangement and reports directly to the Divisional Manager.

    The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for the structural engineering activities of the company which incorporates concrete and steel structures in single and multi-level buildings, industrial plants and water retaining structures.

    In addition, the Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and design oversight, support, direction and leadership to the structural team. The Senior Structural Engineer will manage engineering activities required for project and service deliverables to be achieved efficiently and within the specific timescales

    KEY  RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Producing, maintaining and taking responsibility for structural engineering deliverables within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
    • Developing, maintaining, enhancing and oversight of structural engineering tools, calculations and software used in the course of the structural engineering activities of the Company.
    • Provide technical structural oversight throughout the project life-cycle, from inception, through feasibility into construction and commissioning.
    • Assist with coordinating and optimizing structural resources.
    • Ensure that all structural projects are undertaken in accordance with the Quality Management System.
    • Effectively interfacing with Clients, project managers, other discipline engineers, design draughts persons and other stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle.
    • Promote growth and advancement of junior staff by mentoring.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:

    • Have a BSc / BEng (Civil) Engineering degree;
    • Be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA;
    • Have a minimum of 15 years’ appropriate post qualification experience in structural engineering design, related to reinforced concrete and structural steelwork designs of multi-level buildings, industrial plants/structures and water retaining structures;
    • Possess a detailed understanding of engineering activities required for consulting engineering services, and EPCM contracts;
    • Have prior experience with the compilation of technical specifications and BOQ’s;
    • Possess a broad understanding of, and have interacted with other design engineering disciplines, i.e. Process, Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Electrical and have been involved in multi-disciplinary projects, leading the structural design aspects;
    • Have strong leadership and management skills in managing structural projects and teams;
    • Be self-motivated, disciplined, ethical, confident, and comfortable with Clients;
    • Have experience in utilising specific structural design software tools to maximise productivity, efficiency and innovation;
    • Be proficient in Prokon software; competent CAD and 3D modelling skills, comfortable working in a BIM environment and good MS Office knowledge with strong MS Excel skills;
    • Be able to lead a structural engineering team to deliver exceptional results;
    • Have a valid driver’s license, and
    • Have a valid passport and be willing to travel within and outside of SA borders.
