Job description – Research Associate / Analyst
Euromonitor International is looking for talented individuals interested in a career in market research. Reporting to the Research Manager in our Cape Town office, the data analyst/specialist will focus on the collection, building and analysis of data. This work will contribute directly to Euromonitor’s popular and long-running syndicated product Passport, which provides data and insight on economies, industries, and consumers worldwide, giving clients greater context on global markets and future trends.
Working on specific industries and countries within Africa, the data analyst will further utilise his/her knowledge of data analysis techniques to improve current research methodologies and processes. This may incorporate not only the building of new research methodologies and processes but the utilisation of those already developed by Euromonitor’s centralised process teams, Catalyst and Transformation, to see how they be incorporated into local research to improve data quality and efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- The analysis and manipulation of data from both public sources and trade interviews using MS Excel, and other data analysis tools, such as Python and SQL;
- Working with large datasets and other relevant sources to improve data quality through ongoing sense checks and analysis;
- Building new data methodologies that can improve data quality and incorporating centralised tools that may assist in efficiency of research processes and methodologies;
- Developing industry and regional expertise on consumer and service markets in Africa through data analysis and report writing.
Requirements
Skills/Proficiencies required:
- The successful applicant will demonstrate a keen interest in consumer and industry trends in relevant African markets, with an eye for detail;
- Superb numeracy and analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel, and preferably SQL and Python;
- The ability to work independently and under pressure to tight deadlines;

What you’ll be doing:
As a UX Engineer reporting to the Director of Product Design, you will design and build exceptional digital products using UX/UI principles. Your work will revolve around creating user-friendly and engaging experiences. Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Software Engineers, you will bring product features and new ideas to life.
Key responsibilities of a UX Engineer:
- Conceptualize, prototype/wireframe, and design intuitive and engaging customer experiences
- Translate UX structures into UI surfaces according to requirements
- Build product experiences based on data analysis, including desk research, prototyping, user interviews, and testing aligned with UXR strategies
- Stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies in the field
- Contribute to the evolution, maintenance, and adoption of our UI system and product component libraries
- Drive continuous delivery in Agile or scrum methodologies
Requirements
We're looking for someone who:
- Possesses strong creative problem-solving skills, interaction design expertise, and prototyping abilities, with proficiency in HTML and CSS
- Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship, critical thinking, and creativity
- Easily adapts their approach to changing needs, signals from users, business, or the team
- Has at least 5 years of experience as a UI Engineer, covering end-to-end hybrid UX and UI projects
- Exhibits in-depth knowledge of user interface models, application design, and website functionality
- Is proficient in front-end languages, including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
- Has familiarity with prototyping tools (e.g., Adobe X)
- Possesses excellent communication and storytelling skills
- Is a team player and a quick learner
