    Lecturer Position : Chiropractic : Ref C205

    Minimum Requirements:

    Lecturer

    • A Master’s Degree in Chiropractic.
    • At least 3-year lecturing experience at a higher educational institution.
    • Evidence of research.
    • Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) in Chiropractic.
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are registered for a PhD

     Addition Recommendations:

    • Experience in e-learning.
    • Competence in the field of chiropractic clinical practice.
    • A minimum of 3 years work experience in private practice.
    • Computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint and internet usage.
    • Proficiency in research or tertiary education instruction will be an advantage.
    • Teaching experience and/or educational qualifications, preferably in the field of Chiropractic or medical education.

     Summary of Duties:

    • Teaching and assessment of modules/subjects in the department of chiropractic.
    • Undertake research activities.
    • Supervision of research students.
    • Supervision of students in the chiropractic day clinic and/or hospitals.
    • Preparation and involvement of teaching materials.
    • Involvement in curriculum development.
    • Provide academic support to facilitate student success.

    Lecturer Positions: Human Resources Management

    Minimum Academic Requirements:

    nGAP Lecturer, Auditing & Taxation

    Auditing and Taxation

    Minimum requirements:

    • A Master’s degree in either Accounting, Auditing or Taxation and MUST be ready to pursue a Doctoral qualification within the minimum time permitted
    • Must have a score of 70 % and above for the Masters degree
    • Candidate who is a member of a recognized professional body will be given preference

    Additional recommendations:

    • Good organisational and administrative skills
    • Provision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching
    • Experience in E-learning (Moodle and/or MS Teams)
    • Proficiency in researching, writing and communications skills
    • Be able to lecture in Internal Auditing and/or Taxation
    • A motivated self-starter, responsible and accountable individual and a team player
    • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Power-Point, internet and email use.

    Summary of duties:

    • Competent preparation and delivery of learning material related to Internal Auditing/Auditing/Taxation students at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
    • Supervise, train and assess undergraduate students in Auditing/Internal Auditing and Taxation.
    • Undertake assessment and administration duties related to teaching, learning and research.
    • Facilitate learning effectively through traditional and online mediums.

    Conditions of Employment:

    In accepting an NGAP appointment, the incumbent will have to:

    • Commit to full participation in the 6 year New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP)
    • Commit to registering for Doctoral studies within 3 months of taking up the nGAP appointment. Please note that nGAP appointees who already hold a doctorate will be required to undertake a higher teaching/research load.
    • Commit to work closely with the supervisor and mentor assigned to him/her and to adhere to the study plan and milestones developed with the supervisor and mentor.
    • Commit to participate in the SSAUF Development Programme, which will involve participation in at least one short course/module per year focused on research or teaching development.
    • Agree that s/he cannot accept any other funding from state sources that duplicates the purpose for which funding has already been allocated to him/her through the nGAP.
    • Agree that s/he cannot accept any other funding for projects that conflict with obligations that arise from participating in the nGAP.
    • Agree to inform the University and the Department of Higher Education and Training of any other funding that s/he have been offered before accepting such funding.
    • Agree that should s/he leave the nGAP position before successfully completing the 6-year programme, s/he will be obliged to reimburse the nGAP fund by repaying the University the following costs incurred up to the point of leaving.
    • Registration and tuition fees for postgraduate studies, where applicable.
    • Costs associated with the assignment of a mentor to support development.
    • Costs incurred for his/her participation in the SSAUF-Development Programme.
    • Costs of infrastructure and equipment provided to support his/her work in the nGAP.
    • Any conference/international mobility costs paid by the nGAP and,
    • 10% of salary costs paid by the nGAP up to the point of leaving.

    Associate Professor: Financial Accounting

    ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

    Minimum Requirements:

    • A relevant Doctoral Degree and an undergraduate degree in any of the accounting fields of Financial Accounting, Financial Management. Managerial Accounting and Finance.
    • At least 7 years of teaching experience at tertiary
    • Ability to lecture Financial Accounting at postgraduate
    • Candidates must demonstrate scholarship of teaching and must have published a minimum of seven DHET accredited publications over the preceding three years.
    • Successful postgraduate supervision of at least two Masters’ students and one Doctorate student.
    • Evidence of leadership in community organizations and participation in activities in the wider community relating specifically to the academic discipline of the candidate and/or involvement in significant community activities in professional, cultural, religious, sporting, developmental, and other fields.
    • Bibliometrics to evaluate the quality of research output.
    • Recipient of grant awards.

    Additional Requirements:

    • A Chartered Accountancy qualification and or professional body affiliation with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) will be an added advantage.

    Minimum requirements:

    • A completed relevant Doctorate Degree, and an undergraduate study in the field of Accounting, Internal Auditing, Auditing or Taxation with a comprehensive background of Information Technology.
    • At least 5 years lecturing experience University level*
    • Candidates must demonstrate scholarship of teaching and must have produced/ published research outputs (e.g. accredited book, chapter in a book, accredited creative output, patent, review article, journal article, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) in the preceding three years*
    • Successful supervision of at least one postgraduate student at Master’s level
    • Senior academic experience within a University context.
    • Active participation in professional, industry and/or community activities.

    Senior Technical Assistant, Media, Language & Communication (1725)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Advanced Diploma/Postgraduate Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree/B Tech in Sound Engineering or equivalent.
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with audio-visual equipment.

     Additional recommendations:

    • At least one year in a supervisory capacity
    • Experience in working at higher education environment.  
    • Communication Skills – written/verbal/presentation in English
    • Computer literate
    • Knowledge of practicals and test equipment is essential

    Summary of duties:

    • Maintains fully functional laboratories so that all student practicals may be undertaken in a disciplined and effective manner.
    • Controls the LAN, and access the Internet and the DUT intranet.
    • Supervises student practicals in accordance with the requirements of academic staff.
    • Trains students (and Lab. Assistants where such structure exist) in the safe and proper use of equipment and ensures students work in a safe and disciplined manner. 
    • Maintenance of laboratory equipment e.g. minor repairs, lubrication, etc. Where equipment requires major repairs, arrangements must be made to send it out for repairs
    • Where an Open Laboratory exists the technician shall control the functioning of the Open Lab Sessions.
    • Controls equipment issues and consumable stock usage and maintains up to date stock registry of consumables and equipment.
    • Monitors consumables and equipment stocks and coordinates the purchase of consumables and capital items in accordance with laid down purchasing procedures and budgetary constraints.
    • Procurement/Processing of purchase requisitions including sourcing of quotations.
    • Researching and advising on relevant and suitable equipment to be procured to serve the departmental needs.
    • General office technical support to staff members such as printers, computers, software etc.

    nGAP Lecturer, Video Technology

    Video Technology

    Minimum requirements:

    • A Master’s degree in Television, Film or Media Studies and MUST be ready to pursue Doctoral qualification within the minimum time permitted

    Lecturer, Graphic Design (185,189 & 182)

    Minimum Requirements:

    Lecturer

    • A completed Master’s or PhD degree in Graphic Design or an appropriate associated field.
    • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience at tertiary level OR 3 years' experience in a relevant associated professional field.

    Additional Recommendations:

    • If successful at Master’s level: Be willing to complete a Doctorate within five years of appointment in an appropriate field of Graphic Design.
