Key Responsibilities:

(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)

• Analysing and identifying which accounts are key to the company at any one time (i.e. produce most profit for the company), and implement procedures to ensure that they receive premium customer service;
• Develop and implement key account plans and approaches in line with the overall strategy formulated by the sales manager (regional / national);
• Identify and generate new business opportunities for key customers ongoing to achieve predetermined sales targets and margins;
• Prepare and present sales proposals and presentations to new and existing key clients to negotiate and close deals;
• Create tailored solutions that meet the client’s short and long-term needs;
• Build strategic working relationships with clients and maintain a high level of client contact (telephonic and face to face) to ensure that their specific requirements are addressed, to monitor and grow existing business;
• Analyse potential sales opportunities by using data analyses, segmented research and information available to identify the attributes most valued by these potential clients;
• Provide professional and exceptional client service in all interactions with clients;
• Closely monitor competitors and maintain client database;
• Keep all administrative work updated;
• Report on sales opportunities and achievements as required (weekly and monthly)
• Maintain a high level of relevant industry knowledge.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade12 or equivalent. Preferable tertiary education in sales and media
• 3-5 years’ experience within a digital sales/target driven environment
• Proven experience dealing with digital advertising agencies and client direct
• Valid drivers’ license

Job outputs:

• As a Netwerk24 home editor, you are expected to publish copy quickly and flawlessly on the website, by optimally enriching stories.
• Use the information from data tools to optimally present a variety of stories.
• Keep readers updated on major stories and breaking news by sending “push notifications”.
• Analyse site traffic and continuously try to improve and increase traffic by enhancing the offering on the homepage.
• Communicate with different departments and respond quickly, efficiently, and timely to requests and messages on various communication platforms.
• As a home editor, you are also expected to manage on-duty journalists over weekends and sometimes in the evenings. This requires you to stay up to date with breaking news and quickly write it yourself or assign it to journalists, and then publish the story factually correct and flawlessly online.
• You may also be expected to translate stories yourself and/or compile them from different sources.
• You are expected to stay abreast of and adhere to the style guide and utilise technology and multimedia.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A relevant tertiary education in journalism;
• At least five years’ experience in journalism or a similar field

Apply if:

• you have a tertiary qualification in audiovisual journalism or relevant programme.
• you read and write Afrikaans fluently.
• you are skilled in video editing with Premier Pro or comparable programmes and have a working knowledge of other audiovisual programmes such as Audition, Photoshop and After Effects. 
• you can operate a video camera and podcast recording equipment and have experience in livestreaming.
• you are able to work fast and cope under pressure, willing to work long hours and weekends and have good interpersonal skills.  
• you are based in Cape Town.
