    Licensing Manager

    Minimum Qualification

    • At least BSc Honours in Science, Engineering, Applied Radiation Science and Technology or Nuclear Physics/Engineering.

    Minimum years relevant experience

    • 10 years in safety analysis and regulatory and/or licensing/ compliance assurance and enforcement experience within the nuclear industry.
    • At least 6 years Managerial Experience.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Maintain licenses and permits
    • Develop licensing documents
    • Develop and review of safety assessments
    • Management systems
    • Perform audits and inspections

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    The appointed candidate will perform the following job activities:

    • Provide support on the development, maintenance, and compliance assessment of the nuclear installation license as required by the regulator.
    • Provide licensing guidance, support and services to facilities within NRWDI considering all applicable regulatory criteria and practices, permit and licensing conditions, international guidelines and internal requirements.
    • Maintain licenses and permits.
    • Prepare license applications by interpreting the safety information (technical input) into comprehensive licensing documents that satisfy all applicable regulatory and technical requirements.
    • Submit licensing documents in a timely manner and in accordance with NRWDI procedures and processes.
    • Lead teams to address significant licensing issues with the objective of maintaining or obtaining licenses in the most efficient manner.
    • Review regulatory topics to provide input to licensing documents to ensure they are complete and comprehensive in order to ensure that submissions to the regulator.
    • Facilitate inspections / internal audits, resolve regulatory issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Provide support for reporting, investigation and close-out of nuclear occurrences.   
    • Compile project Safety Cases that will consist of all the supporting documents in accordance with the project-specific nuclear installation license requirements.
    • Obtain the NNR authorization to proceed with constructing new installations or modification to existing installations.
    • Submit Public Information documents to the NNR to support public hearing processes for new installations and participate in public hearings, if required.
    • Prepare and respond to regulator requests for additional information.

    Manager: Research and Development

    Minimum Qualification

    • The potential candidate for this position must possess at least a MSc degree in Science or Engineering, with a PhD as an advantageous qualification.

    Minimum years relevant experience

    • A minimum of 10 years of R&D experience.
    • At least 6 years Managerial experience.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Develop and manage R&D projects
    • Manage and oversee R&D department
    • Develop new processes and technologies
    • Develop and execute R&D strategies and plans

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    The appointed candidate will perform the following job activities:

    • Manage the R&D team and ensure that policies and procedures are kept.
    • Develop and execute R&D plans for waste management and disposal.
    • Identify and report any technical issues found when evaluating technologies and products.
    • Oversee research work, tests and analyses and assess how processes are
    • Budget and forecast new research plans and developments
    • Use creative skills and research knowledge to improve technologies and facilities for waste management and disposal.
    • Attend conferences and present research topics.
    • Collaborate with radioactive waste management organisations and research institutions on R&D on waste management and disposal.

    Board Secretary

    Minimum Qualification

    • LLB degree (a CIS qualification will be an advantage)
    • Exceptional Board secretarial and administrative skills

    Minimum years relevant experience

    At least 5 years’ experience in a Board / Company Secretary role, preferably within a State-Owned Entity

    Minimum Requirements

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    The appointed candidate will perform the following job activities:

    •  Preparation of the Board Year Plan.
    • Timeous distribution of Board and Sub Committee Packs prior to the scheduled meeting.
    • Produce minutes and ensure the timeous distribution thereof to members.
    • Liaise with Management to source information and/or action items to ensure sound information flow within the Board and Sub Committees.
    • Ensure minutes of meetings and resolutions are permanently affixed in the organisation’s Minute Book and duly signed and dated by the Chairpersons of the respective meetings.
    • Ensure all attendance registers and declaration of interests are signed by participants at all Board and Sub Committee meetings.
    • Coordinate logistical arrangements for members to attend Board and Sub-Committee meetings i.e. travel arrangements and catering.
    • Ensure that records are always up to date and readily available.
    • Maintain an up-to-date Register of Board and Sub-Committee meeting resolutions.
    • Administration of Board member payments and claims.
    • Ensure the Board exercises good corporate governance by providing sound advice on corporate governance matters.
    • Ensure Board members, collectively or individually, are provided with guidance as to their duties, fiduciary responsibilities and powers.
    • Ensure Board charters and terms of reference are up-to-date, sound, effective and complied with.
    • Ensure Annual declarations of interest by the Board are up to date.
    • Advise on legislation which impacts on NRWDI and advising on compliance thereof.
    • Monitoring Committee adherence to all applicable Acts and King IV.
    • Ensure Board and Board Committee compliance with statutory requirements.
    • Bringing irregularities / non-compliance to the attention of the Board.
    • Ensure the induction of Board Members.
    • Ensure Board capacity through competency enhancement (skills gap analysis, training, etc.).
    • Ensure optimum Board composition (consult Board Chairperson).
    • Ensure optimum Board Committee structuring and composition (advise Board).
    • Keep the Board informed on Board functions, trends and best practice.
    • Coordinate Annual Board performance reviews.
    • Provide regular and good quality information / legislative updates, training facilitation and advice.
    • Ensure Annual Board and Committee assessments and effective and timely implementation of next steps.
    • Ensuring effective communication and engagement between the Board and its stakeholders.
    • Compile governance reports for submission to the Board.
    • Compile reports in collaboration with Legal-on-legal issues.
    • Compile reports in accordance with policies, procedures and legislation.
    • Compile reports within the allocated time frame.
