    Job Description

    • My client (FMCG) based in Durban is seeking an experienced and hands-on Millwright.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To conduct maintenance tasks on mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment, safely, in order to ensure plant availability and reliability.

    MAIN TASKS INCLUDE:

    • Attend to all mechanical, instrumentation and electrical breakdowns.
    • Conduct regular inspections of equipment.
    • Fault-find and problem-solve on equipment.
    • Conduct regular maintenance and repair of equipment.
    • Report on conditions of equipment, advise management of electrical and mechanical problems and recommend activities to minimize the number of breakdowns.
    • Interpret deviations recorded and rectify accordingly.
    • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities as per Plant Safety Regulations, preventative maintenance plans and maintenance procedure.
    • Investigate and analyse cause and effect of breakdowns on equipment
    • Understand basic hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication.
    • Carry out basic rigging and assist stage crew where necessary.
    • Ensure all supporting documentation is completed within the required timeframes and in the format specified (Job card Completion and other related paperwork).
    • Analyse proposed modifications and provide input regards the implementation of ideas and carry out modifications within the required timeframes.
    • Troubleshoot on DCS, PLC's and (AC and DC) drives.
    • Identify where quality and safety can be improved.
    • Participate in improvement programmes and initiatives.
    • Maintain safe work environment.
    • Comply with relevant company policies, legislative requirements and standards.
    • Ensure quality standards are maintained and customer requirements are addressed.
    • Attend to equipment care and personal safety.
    • Read, interpret and understand electrical and basic mechanical drawings.
    • Promote environmental and safety awareness regarding the potential impact of activities, process and materials utilized.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 2 Years' experience as a Millwright post Apprenticeship.

    Skills:

    • Fault-finding and problem-solving skills, safety and quality conscious, delivering and meeting customer requirements, coordination and coaching skills, ability to work independently and function well within a team.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to see colour in order to be able to distinguish colour coded wiring etc.
    • Physically fit in order to be able to walk for long periods of time, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, climb, squat, and kneel, and stand

    Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of the OHS Act (safety legislation) is essential.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    • To lead supplier consolidation, group-level negotiations, and develop sourcing category strategies and initiatives for Logistics and Business Services across multiple countries in Africa, in order to optimize cost, ensure supply continuity, and drive long-term value through supplier partnerships and structured service level agreements (SLAs)

    Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

    • This employment opportunity would be reporting to the General Manager of the Shukela Training Centre
    • The Shukela Training Centre (STC) is a highly regarded training institution which was established over 50 years ago. The STC delivers high quality engineering and agricultural training to learners in the sugar sector and other industries within and outside of South African borders.
    • Skilled artisans are critical to address today's economic challenges and an opportunity exist, within the STC, for a suitable candidate to contribute to the training and development of up-and-coming artisans.
    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the provision of the Instrument, Millwright, Refrigeration and Electrical Trades within the Department, in accordance with the needs of the sugar industry, and to ensure that the delivery of this training meets the requirements of the Department of Higher Education and Training, the National Artisan Moderating Body (NAMB), the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) and the relevant Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs).

    Tasks will include (but not limited to):

    • Manage about 10 Technical Training Officers responsible for Electrical, Instrument and Millwright Training, ensuring that the Department is appropriately staffed and that work is fairly distributed among all of them
    • Manage the finances and risks of the Department, ensuring that the overall costs of the department are properly managed and that they are met by the income generated from services delivered
    • Manage employees within the Electrical Department, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and the SASA culture and ethos as well as always ensuring that they act incompliance with the accreditation requirements
    • Ensure that there is optimum use of the training facilities by expanding the customer base utilising the services of the Electrical Department
