    Associate Professor/Professor and Deputy Dean: Research and Postgraduate Studies

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties, among others:

    • Carrying out academic, managerial, and administrative responsibilities in the Office of the Dean.
    • Providing strategic and operational leadership of the research and postgraduate studies portfolio.
    • Supporting the Dean in developing and implementing innovative research and postgraduate education strategies.
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with relevant stakeholders within and outside the University.

    • The requisite qualifications and experience to be eligible for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor in the Faculty at UP, the assessment of which is based on several factors, including teaching and learning, research, postgraduate supervision, community engagement, academic administration, and academic citizenship.
    • A minimum of five years of academic management experience in a higher education institution.
    • A proven, ongoing track record of excellence in leading teams in research and postgraduate programme development and implementation.
    • Proven leadership experience in inter-faculty research and postgraduate programmes.
    • Extensive proven experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching;

    Communication Officer - Office of the Dean (EBIT)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    As a Communication Officer in the office of the Dean, the incumbent will be responsible forthe management of:

    Control Instructor - Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will support the department’s academic and operational functions through the following key areas:

    Instruction and Practical Sessions:

    • Deliver comprehensive instruction to Electronic and Computer Engineering students before and during practical sessions. 
    • Assess practical and project performance to ensure academic standards. 
    • Guide and mentor final-year project students. 
    • Maintain thorough knowledge of practical module content each semester. 
    • Contribute to improving laboratory facilities to enhance learning.
    • Order development sets and software tools aligned with lecture specifications.

    • Incorporate hands-on learning and industry-relevant simulations to prepare students for their careers.

    Operational Laboratory Management:

    • Maintain Networking Laboratories (A, B, Cisco, Project 2) and CAEC with functional equipment and enforce safety protocols with ongoing student training. 
    • Install, upgrade, clean, and maintain lab computers and peripherals. 
    • Manage inventory, storage, and lending of assets with accurate records. 
    • Oversee asset life cycle from acquisition to disposal and stay updated on technical advancements to keep laboratories current.

    Departmental Support:

    • Manage the Impro access control system to regulate lab access and retrieve student attendance reports. 
    • Monitor laboratories via CCTV, handling security systems and footage analysis as needed. 
    • Provide flexible support for various departmental ad hoc tasks.
    • Work effectively with lecturers, assistants, laboratory staff, and departmental personnel to ensure seamless laboratory operations and curriculum integration.
    • Maintain clear communication channels with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and administrators, to foster efficient problem resolution and department function.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Relevant BTech, BSc. Eng, or BEng in Computer Engineering from a recognized institution.
    • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
    • Valid driver’s license (Code B or EB).
    • Experience in managing and maintaining similar engineering laboratories (University or Technical University level).
    • Experience with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in research and teaching labs.

    Added Advantages and Preferences

    • Postgraduate qualification such as MTech or MEng in Computer Engineering.

    • CCNA and/or CCNP instructor training.

    E-Learning Dev and Support Officer - Unit for Distance Education - Faculty of Education

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide training sessions to academic staff on how to use the LMS (e.g. how to upload content, create a live collab session, accessing papers to grade etc)
    • Identify and conduct training to student mentors to assist with clickUP orientation sessions
    • Conduct training sessions on how to make the most of the LMS in a module (e.g. making use of discussion forums, adaptive release etc)

    First Instructor - Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent to contribute to the functioning of the Department of electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering. The incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:

    Instructor tasks:

    • Providing instruction to students in Electrical Engineering, before and during practical sessions. 
    • Aiding the module lecturer and assistant lecturers during practical sessions.
    • Develop and build circuits and laboratory setups for practicums as required by the module lecturer.
    • Setup and test practicums so that these are ready before practicum sessions. This includes testing of designs and verification of results against requirements, and adaption as necessary.

      life-cycle administration of assets.

    Liaison and marketing:

    • Interact with students and aiding as needed.

    Head of Sports Science and Conditioning -TuksRugby - Department of TuksSport

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • Providing strategic oversight for designing, implementing Sport Science and Conditioning for TuksRugby men’s and women’s rugby teams

    Next Generation Sequencing Facility Manager - Department of Virology - Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintaining and overseeing the NGS facility equipment, ensuring optimal functionality; 
    • Coordinating sequencing projects from sample intake to delivery of results;
    • Conducting quality control checks, validating NGS protocols, and optimizing workflows;
    • Training and supervising junior staff members on sequencing procedures and best laboratory practices;
    • Managing sequencing requests, sample tracking, and pooling strategies;

    Academic Success Coach - Postgrad - One Year Contract (Renewable)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • General support to the Deputy Dean: Research and Postgraduate Studies in matters related to postgraduate students 
    • Coordinate and assist during postgraduate support sessions
