Requirements

Minimum Requirement

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Computer literate, proficient in Ms Office, email and internet
• Basic HIV counselling certificate (10-day course)
• Adherence counselling certificate (5-day course)
• Knowledge, ability and experience of working with smart phones, tablets and applications.

Minimum Experience

• 1-2 years of research experience in collecting qualitative and or quantitative data capturing
• Proven previous experience as a community health worker or providing home-based care.

Advantageous 

• Experience in HIV counselling individual and group facilitation
• GCP compliant and knowledge of medical terminology

• Experience of role in coordination or management, experience in staff supervision
• Experience in a research environment, familiarity with clinical research data collection.

• The successful candidate will have access to one of the largest ongoing population-based HIV cohorts in the world - the Africa Health Research Institute’s population cohort in rural KwaZulu-Natal, which includes over 90,000 individuals, with individual-level sociodemographic, biological, and clinical record data as well as comprehensive genomics data. Successful candidate will receive a generous tax-free stipend. Once appointed, the successful candidates will be supported to apply for externally funded personal fellowships and grants and develop collaborations/skills for their career development. They will receive mentorship from leading scientists and faculty members in AHRI, who commonly publish in some of the top journals in the field (Science, Nature and Lancet).
• Candidate will be based at our state-of-the-art campuses in KwaZulu-Natal which are located in Durban and Somkhele respectively.  

Requirements
The minimum qualifications and experience required for these research posts are:

• PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Econometrics, Mathematical Modelling, Spatial Analytics or a closely related quantitative field
• Several high-quality publications as a first author
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills and team orientated

Requirements

• Qualifications as a Medical Doctor or an Allied Health Professional; OR Clinical qualification (or experience) in any of the following: Adolescent health, Public Health implementation science, HIV, infectious disease, mental health/psychiatry, or sexual health.
• A Ph.D. is a requirement
• Registration with HPCSA

Minimum Experience

• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
• Good Experience and knowledge of, and skill in applying, applicable clinical research regulatory requirements (i.e., Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
