    Editor at the International Energy Letter

    The Team

    • The International Energy Letter (IEL) team delivers a weekly overview and commentary on worldwide energy issues, providing a wider view of the industry beyond oil & gas. The weekly report places events and trending topics in context, and further information is provided via the accompanying reports (the monthly Global and Regional Trends, the quarterly Bid Round & Open Acreage Review, and the annual Discoveries & Highlights). It is generally comprised of a lead story (~1,000 words), 30 short articles (~200 words), and a monthly supplement, alternately focused on exploration, technology & environment and the midstream sector.

    The Impact

    • The IEL team, currently composed of Tiziana Luzzi, Amanda Nelson and Sergey Myakishev, is looking for a writing editor to replace Sergey, who will take over Robert Copson's position at the Daily Exploration Alert (DEA) from March 31, 2023. The workload is equally split between the members, but the team needs to be fully staffed to provide the whole content. The new hire is also expected to benefit the service by bringing new ideas and potentially a different perspective.

    Responsibilities

Finally, following editing, the texts are loaded into an editorial system and published. The content is then delivered to clients by e-mail while being also available on the company's website.

    Position Summary

    Lead Data Engineer

    Position Summary

    • The Technology, Media, and Telecommunications business line seeking an adept, architecturally minded Lead Data Engineer. The candidate has experience translating business needs into a vision of what should be built. This means skillfully choosing and deploying big data technologies and infrastructure building frameworks atop to facilitate autonomous use, and abstracting production solutions so they feel like “magic” for your stakeholders such that things “just fall into place.” As the Lead Data Engineer, you have a diversity of software development experience rather than a single tool suite or paradigm.
    • You are hands-on, data-driven, and highly collaborative. You should enjoy being "full stack" in the sense that you own a product from beginning to end by designing, constructing, integrating, testing, documenting, and supporting your creations.     • Expertise in various big data technologies both open source and cloud native, (Kafka/Kinesis, Spark/EMR, Snowflake, Presto/Athena, Airflow, Hive, Drill, Databricks).
    • Expertise in data model design with sensitivity to usage patterns and goals – schema, scalability, immutability, idempotency, etc.
    • Mastery of at least two of the following languages – Scala, Python, Java, Go.
    • Expertise in the suite of NoSQL models and frameworks.

    Associate Director, Insurance Ratings

    The Role: 

    • As an Associate Director, you will analyze insurance companies mainly in Africa and perhaps other locations across EMEA, when needed. This position involves meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters, assisting in resolving client needs, participating in market education efforts, and taking the lead at external meetings related to credits.

    The Impact:

    • You will provide key stakeholders with impactful insights and enable investors to make decisions with conviction. You will also be able to empower our junior analysts and role model key leadership behaviours to empower and inspire them.

    Your Skills:

    •  You will have a good understanding of insurance markets, business environments and relevant regulations particularly in South Africa. Prior credit analyses experience covering the non-life, life insurance and reinsurance sectors will be a distinct advantage. An ability to demonstrate analytical excellence together with an ability to explain our credit rating opinions both internally as well as externally will help you excel in this role. You will also be able to instruct, encourage and inspire junior talent and help build our knowledge base.

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze information and data to determine ratings on insurance companies and their debt issues
    • Make recommendations and present to rating committees
    • Draft press releases, company-specific reports, and industry commentaries in a fast-paced environment.

    Sr. Data Privacy Specialist

    The Team

    • The MI Privacy and Compliance team is a newly formed team in the exciting and rapidly changing Privacy world. As Privacy has become an area of focus around the world S&P Global also believes compliance is needed for the use and governance of the personal data we collect.

    The Impact

    • As part of the Privacy team, you will serve under the Operations Enablement pillar leading, driving, and participating in key initiatives to support S&P Global Market Intelligence’s (MI) Data Privacy Strategy in radically transforming how we protect personal data, comply with regulatory compliance, and deliver customer first.

    What Is In It For You

    • The selected candidate would be working as an individual contributor and would have the opportunity to define and enhance processes, use analytical and multi-tasking skills, and contribute to and lead projects. This role involves collaborating and interfacing directly with a diverse group from MI Legal and Global Privacy team, data management and -operations, business owners, product, technology, and commercial partners during various stages of the workflows.

    Key Roles And Responsibilities

    • Handle MI DSAR (Data Subject Access Requests) workflow in OneTrust.
    • Work on DSAR integration and improvement projects.
    • Ensuring confirmed Data Incidents (actual or potential breach of personal or confidential information) are sent to appropriate parties and escalated following guidelines.
    • Actively work with CMDB team and educate the business on entering all assets in CMDB
    • OneTrust: launch assessments, follow-up, and conduct risk reviews with MI Legal and the business.
    • ROP (Record of Processing) maintenance and new business areas.
    • Assist in development and documentation of departmental instructions and workflows.
    • Support the team in supervising, coordination, documenting and enhancing MI’s web sourcing efforts.
    • Coordinate and partner with business and technology to ensure Privacy team is aware of all new projects that contain personal data.
    • Assist in the establishment and implementation of effective Privacy data management practices.
    • Identify ways to assist the team in supporting clear communication and education about Privacy policies and procedures and supporting our training and education efforts.
    • Become a Subject Matter Expert for the datasets that contain Personal Data within MI. Understanding what personal data is published, how it is collected, used and processed, and where it is stored.
    • Become a Privacy subject matter expert as you gather knowledge on key privacy terms and an understanding of domestic and global key privacy laws like GDPR, CCPA, etc.
    • Ensure detailed documentation, notes, and necessary training material along with training sessions for reference and replay purposes for all major workflows.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining department reporting metrics.
    • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders.
