Editor at the International Energy Letter

    The Team

    • The International Energy Letter (IEL) team delivers a weekly overview and commentary on worldwide energy issues, providing a wider view of the industry beyond oil & gas. The weekly report places events and trending topics in context, and further information is provided via the accompanying reports (the monthly Global and Regional Trends, the quarterly Bid Round & Open Acreage Review, and the annual Discoveries & Highlights). It is generally comprised of a lead story (~1,000 words), 30 short articles (~200 words), and a monthly supplement, alternately focused on exploration, technology & environment and the midstream sector.

    The Impact

    • The IEL team, currently composed of Tiziana Luzzi, Amanda Nelson and Sergey Myakishev, is looking for a writing editor to replace Sergey, who will take over Robert Copson's position at the Daily Exploration Alert (DEA) from March 31, 2023. The workload is equally split between the members, but the team needs to be fully staffed to provide the whole content. The new hire is also expected to benefit the service by bringing new ideas and potentially a different perspective.

    What’s In It For You

    • The selected applicant will have the opportunity to work in an international environment, cover key global energy issues and expand their own knowledge and understanding of an ever-evolving world, notably in terms of techniques, strategies and markets.

    Responsibilities

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for writing short articles, lead stories and technical supplements, as well as contributing to the set of accompanying reports. Work will include consultation with the rest of the team, gathering materials to build content, using internal and external sources and completing content under deadlines. Finally, following editing, the texts are loaded into an editorial system and published. The content is then delivered to clients by e-mail while being also available on the company's website.

    What We’re Looking For

    • We are looking for a graduate in sciences with strong computer and writing skills, someone with a good understanding of geology, upstream and midstream, and a willingness to learn about related subjects and E&P databases, someone who can look beyond initial reports to provide a more comprehensive picture, make quick but sound decisions, work with deadlines and collaborate with colleagues located in different locations.
