    Cut - Up Fitter - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir , Reitz

    Job Description

    • Responsible for carrying out a range of mechanical work on machines, assemblies and manufactured parts using a range of processes, tools, and machines according to standard operating procedures.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
    • N3 Mechanical engineering.
    • Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner Trade Certificate.
    • At least 3 years' proven work-related experience.
    • Experience within the FMCG environment will be an advantage.
    • Working knowledge of pneumatics, pumps, conveyors, shafts, sprockets, bearings, and gearboxes.
    • Experience on other lines such as EV, Defeathering, Packing & Receiving will be advantageous.
    • Valid driver's licence.
    • A willingness to work overtime, shifts and weekends when required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Do start-up of all plant equipment and repair problems before commencement of production shifts.
    • Perform maintenance in the Cut-up departments on equipment such as: ACM’s, Injectors, Mixing Stations, Overhead lines, Conveyors etc.
    • Ensure that the equipment is washed, that damaged and broken machines and equipment are repaired according to company standards.
    • Make sure that all safety parts are working and tested on a daily basis on all equipment.
    • Ensure the relevant sections are mechanically ready for production at all times.
    • Do maintenance on plant equipment on weekends as per shift roster and scheduled maintenance program.
    • Ensure that check sheets are filled in daily and all deviations are reported to Planner and Mechanical Manager.
    • Do breakdowns as per agreed on the whole plant where needed.
    • Ensure machine failure and breakdowns are reported to the Mechanical Manager and recorded on the daily log sheet of production, and job cards are filled in correctly and signed off by production and maintenance.
    • Ensure breakdowns are done thoroughly and respond to processing quickly with the correct tools and spares.
    • Ensure that inspections are done as per job cards issued.
    • Apply and enforce ISO / HACCP / Health & Safety Standards/ 20 Keys in the workplace.
    • Complete all compulsory training interventions.
    • Mentor apprentices to ensure they follow company and standard practices and processes.
    • Perform any other duties as may be required by line managers.

    Skills Required

    • Basis awareness training in manual handling, working at heights and confined spaces.
    • Understanding of production procedures.
    • Knowledge of health and safety procedures (PPE).
    • Ability to read manuals, blueprints and schematics.
    • Good communication skills.

    Processing Shift Manager - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir ,Reitz

    Job Description

    • Responsible for managing various functional departments within the plant to ensure the achievement of budgeted profits, compliance with service level conditions to ensure that the end product meet international standards and quality, maintain sound relationships with all stakeholders and the overall growth and sustainability of own shift through daily operational management.

     Requirement

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
    • A qualification in Operations/ Business/ Management is required.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in the poultry production plant experience on Middle
    • Minimum 3 Years Supervisory experience in production.
    • Processing plant experience on junior management level within poultry abattoir environment.
    • Knowledge of Food Safety Standard required.
    • Computer literate (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word).
    • CB - Code B driver’s license and own reliable transport.
    • A willingness to work shifts/ overtime incl. on weekends where required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure productivity of the processing process, while guaranteeing strike rates
    • Ensure productivity of the processing process, while guaranteeing strike rates according to processes to ensure quality of product & service.
    • Compile and management of budget with regards to equipment and hours within GFC processing function.
    • Controlling of expenses within the processing function of GFC as allocated within the mandate on a continuous basis to ensure profitability.
    •  Ensure that all equipment and machinery is in a working condition as specified in the maintenance standard practice instructions to guarantee optimal production.
    •  Ensure that the GFC production plant adhere to the start-up process instructions and completing the pre-start checklist daily.
    •  Ensure that each department within the GFC production plant comply with GFC standard processing practice instructions daily.
    • Ensure that all packed products comply with GFC dispatch standard practice instructions on a continuous basis.
    •  To facilitate and coordinate the Human Resources function within the relevant department daily.
    • Ensure all systems, documentation and processes are in place and that relevant personnel comply with legislation requirements, policies and procedures within the processing function.
    •  Oversee the various functional departments to ensure they achieve their budgets and performance standards.
    •  Range: o All Plant operations in all Departments. o Maintenance.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of all plant machinery.
    • Ensure all assets are appropriately maintained. 
    • Ensure measures are in place to identify and manage risks on the various departments in the plant.
    •  Ensure legal compliance within the various departments in the plant.
    •  Make recommendations to ensure that business processes/models remain in accordance with best practices.
    •  Identify cost saving and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Identify new business opportunities and action these as required.
    • Complete production plans which include costings, operational parameters and business processes. 
    • Identify and allocate resources to different departments within plant to ensure targets & SLAs are achieved.
    • Provide input into the compilation of Service Level Agreements.
    • Ensure service levels are maintained in accordance with SLA.
    •  Ensure continuous internal client/ inter-departmental communication and feedback.
    • Range: Communication and feedback include, but is not limited to:
    • Daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly reports. 
    • Operations meetings.
    •  Sales meetings with Sales department.
    • Performance Reviews of line reports.
    • Forecast meetings.
    •  Client satisfaction questionnaires at different levels. 
    • Monitor costs by analysing cost allocations, identifying discrepancies, and implementing cost saving strategies.

     Range: The major costs include, but are not limited to:

    • Overtime
    • PPE Costs.
    • AWOL
    •  Analyze and identify cost saving initiatives on monthly financial accounts. 
    • Give input during the compilation of annual budgets in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
    • Put strategies in place to ensure growth on the various client accounts.
    • Demonstrate leadership skills, motivation and conflict resolution.
    •  Manage team dynamics to ensure optimum performance and relationships within teams.
    • Ensure sound relations are maintained with relevant unions /shop stewards.
    • Manage discipline in the workplace. 
    • Give input into the recruitment and selection of management staff.
    •  Monitor the Employment Equity plan to ensure the targets and goals set are achieved.

    • Responsible for sales-related administrative assistance and support to the internal sales team that will contribute to the achievement of the company’s sales objectives.

    Job requirements
