    Field Supervisor - Northern Production Areas

    Role purpose

    • Plan and coordinates seed production activities with seed growers in order to meet the seed availability-, and quality standards required. Ensures the efficient use of human resources, equipment and materials.

    Key Responsibilities and Tasks

    • Plan and coordinate seed production planning which includes the following activities:
    • Grower selection and recruitment building strong grower network and maintaining good relationships and trust.
    • Use available Data capturing platforms to gather accurate grower information and utilize for season preparation.
    • Grower contracting according to Bayer seed agreement.
    • Coordinate and supervise key agronomic activities from field selection, soil preparation, planting, weed control, insect control, disease control, fertilization and irrigation monitoring.
    • Coordinate key processes, planting, detasseling, yield forecasting, harvesting and deliveries to processing plant.
    • Lead HSE efforts according ISO45001 standards, focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA principles.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.
    • Record field data in Velocity platform, to manage productions activities effectively.
    • Comply with SANSOR seed certification standards and requirements.
    • Support operational improvement initiatives, drive best practices and cost savings.
    • Utilizing onePSS production systems to coordinate and manage production fields effectively.
    • Increase end-to-end operational efficiency and advance customer experience through continuous improvement initiatives

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    • Minimum a diploma or bachelor’s degree in agronomy or 5-year experience in seed production.
    • Fluent in English
    • MS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Results focused with ability to work on own initiative
    • Strong teamwork capability (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others)
    • Making informed decisions in a timely manner.
    • Have the responsibility to work home-based and be prepared to travel extensively.
    • SANSOR and Phytosanitary certification, and AVCASA accreditation, will be an added advantage.

    Field Production Supervisor - Brits

    Role purpose

    • Plan and coordinates field production activities of pre-commercial and foundation seed with seed growers and plant operations, in order to meet the seed availability and quality standards required.
    • Ensures the responsible use of human resources, equipment and materials.

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    • Plan and coordinate production planning, grower contracting, planting-, detasseling-, harvesting processes, cultivationnactivities that include, fertilizing, weed, insect, irrigation control for foundation seed inbred increases, single cross ma ke-ups and pre-commercial seed productions.
    • Support field production for license hybrid parentals.
    • Liaise with Africa Foundation Area Field Manager to do grower selection, contracting and crop allocations as well as annual field reviews.
    • Responsible for all activities related to the delivery of high-quality foundation seed. This includes but not limited to pre-plant control, roguing (off type removal), harvest moisture control and field sampling.
    • Coordination with seed growers to ensure a smooth transition and flow of product from field to plant.
    • Lead ESH efforts, provide assistance and arrange for resources to promote safety in field operations.
    • Maintain field operational records as required by the QMS management systems.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    • Minimum a diploma or bachelor’s degree in agronomy or 5-year experience in seed production.

    Corn Go-to-Market Manager

    Role purpose

    • Responsible for developing and implementing of the RSA Maize Go-To-Market (GtM) strategies and campaigns (as core crop) for key farmer and channel segments with the view to achieving sustainable profitability and market share consistent with the KPI’s, by satisfying current and future customer needs through tailored solutions.
    • Enable RSA to execute effectively on the Maize GtM strategies.

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    • Develop & implement short-, mid- and long-term integrated Go to Market (GtM) strategies and campaigns for Maize, in alignment with cluster and regional crop strategies to address customer segment needs and requirements.
    • Ensure that GtM strategies are effectively implemented through tactical marketing plans based on customer segmentation
    • Define product/solution needs to achieve strategies and collaborate with cluster crop teams to ensure availability of such products/solutions for Maize crop systems
    • Develop value proposition of products and tailored solutions based on collaboration with Market
    • Development, Breeding, Field Solutions and Sales organisations
    • Manage and co-ordinate pricing and market funding strategy as part of the GtM strategy to ensure profitable business growth
    • Define tailored solutions and translate into GtM strategies and marketing campaigns
    • Act as the key Maize customer marketing contact for focused countries ensuring effective implementation of GtM strategy
    • Analyse Maize market, macro-trends, customer needs and competitor strategies to identify new business opportunities based upon unmet needs of current and new customers
    • Collaborate with business intelligence and customer insight team to generate necessary customer insight to develop customer centric GtM strategies and aligned campaigns
    • Collaboratively lead a multi-disciplinary Maize crop team to address needs and evaluate GtM strategies
    • Support efficient implementation of key Stewardship measures as part of the GtM strategy and tailored crop solution.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the development and effective implementation of GtM strategies

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Marketing/Business administration
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Marketing, Strategic planning and/or Sales.
    • Solid knowledge of Maize agricultural systems and farm agronomy with relevance to RSA.
    • Good strategic business acumen with the ability to develop / execute robust and unique GTM strategy plans
    • Ability to develop and integrate grower segment insights/needs into innovative GtM strategies
    • Ability to utilize complex data points in order to understand market trends and anticipate future requirements.
    • Ability to develop/execute differentiating strategies based on compelling and novel solutions for customer needs.
    • Ability to drive change in complex and stable organization while not being disruptive to the business.
    • Ability to collaborate/communicate with and develop internal and external partnerships
    • Ability to work well across both commercial and smallholder farmer markets
    • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel / Power Point / Word) a prerequisite Excellent communication and presentation skills.

    Field Agronomist SAC - Nelspruit

    Role purpose

    • Drive innovation at the Africa Cluster Innovation hub by delivering high quality & usable data.
    • The Field Agronomist will primarily be responsible for conducting and or oversee of field trials in a safe and efficient manner, providing quality data for use in bio dossiers, project decision making and transfer of knowledge to Market Development, Customer Marketing, Breeding and the Commercial teams.
    • In addition, the Field Agronomist will play a pivotal role in driving activities on the Innovation Hub.

    Key Responsibilities and Tasks

    • To carry out allocated trials, safely, efficiently and to a high standard in order to provide useable data for the process of registration of new and existing active substances/products and determine the validity of proof-of-concept projects.
    • Insure by means of a Farmers Service Agreement contract that cooperator understands the complexity of trials conducted on his/her farm.
    • Negotiate with cooperators (farmers/landowners) the compensation amount for crop destruct on which global agronomic solution and non-registered products have been tested.
    • Actively provide knowledge and observations from field trials on project developments to Agronomic Solutions Managers (ASM) by updating Scientific Outlook (SCOUT) program continuously throughout the season.
    • Manage, develop and implement strategies and procedures at Vongotti
    • Station (Africa Innovation Hub) in order to drive innovation.
    • To be responsible for the maintenance of Innovation hub site equipment to ensure accurate and safe application of chemicals to trial sites and maintain storage facility in a professional manner.
    • Explore and optimize usage of the Easy Data Collector (EDC) application and other digital tools to increase trial data capacity, accuracy & improve timelines of data available into SCOUT.
    • Liaise with external stakeholders (farmers, agents & industry groups) on new trends in the market and share with relevant internal stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the Development of the crop strategy by supporting the ASM’s with relevant in-field knowledge sharing.
    • Propose and motivate product development projects to ASM’s for proposals at relevant Crop Teams.
    • Support Market Development on knowledge transfer for a smooth transition from registration trials to demonstration trials.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    • University Degree/Diploma or equivalent in Agriculture, Horticulture or Biological/Data Sciences; with focus on crop protection
    • Minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar role.
    • Knowledge of crops and practical cropping systems as well as experience with field trials and field-testing methodology, including
    • digital tools.
    • Excellent human relationship and social competence (teamwork skills) required.
    • Good networking and communications skills.
    • Good organization and planning skills to manage complexity.
    • Flexible and reliable person.
    • Embraces change.
    • Experience in data science in addition to high competence with IT applications including Microsoft Office and database systems.

    HR Partner (Fixed Term – 1 year)

    Role purpose

    • This job supports and enables the organization to achieve our mission by providing efficient HR support, ensuring professional implementation and application of HR Policies.
    • The role holder will work closely with other HR Partners and the HR Operations team in the resolution of HR issues to ensure sound HR service delivery.

    Key Kesponsibilities and Tasks

    • Support the talent acquisition process ensuring the required inputs from the functions and RPO partner for timely delivery on recruitment needs in all worker categories.
    • Organization management, maintaining position descriptions and evaluations on SAP to ensure data accuracy.
    • Ensures the implementation and application of agreed upon Bayer HR directives, policies, processes, systems and programmes and strives for best practices in the standardisation, harmonisation and alignment of local HR activities, but always with the business requirements in mind.
    • Provides effective local Talent Management (TM) initiatives in line with the global Bayer Group TM strategy to attract, identify, develop and retain the right employees and to maintain a powerful talent pipeline.
    • Provides support and guidance to the relevant local management enabling them to contribute to the talent management agenda including participation in the Bayer Talent Review process with the Country Leadership Team (CLT).

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    • At least 5 year’s experience in Human Resources at middle and senior management level in a multinational organisation
    • Minimum BCom in Human Resources or similar. An Honours degree is advantageous
    • Certified HR professional
    • Experience with Employment Equity management and Labour Law certifications will be an added advantage
