    Industrial Engineer

    Mission    

    • This role is aimed to be aligned with the delivery of the Organizations' key strategic objectives, by assisting through being a support function. The incumbent must have a passion for achievement and delivering tasks, while harnessing the synergies of relevant stakeholders.

    Main tasks and responsibilities

    • Conduct time studies, with an eye for identifying and eliminating waste from process outputs including improving efficiencies.
    • Conduct training in "Lean Manufacturing" methodologies e.g., Kaizen, 5S, 5-Why,
    • Document improvements for each workflow within the company's operational scope
    • Establish Processes and structures including handing over implemented / improved initiatives.
    • Executing operational responsibilities as required by the customer (e.g., Engineering changes, special projects, etc.)
    • Maintain flexibility by managing the different projects and ensure their timeous delivery.
    • Act proactively by identifying, solving and/or reporting unforeseen challenges that affect customer outputs.
    • Oversee the production process ensuring that the production is accurate, on time and cost effective.
    • Study and analyse all product production processes from initial assembly preparation to final completion with an aim to optimise efficiencies.
    • Assist Engineering / R&D / DFM (Design for Manufacture), with tasks or projects.
    • Raise NCRs / ECN as and when required for operational improvements.
    • Work with the quality department to ensure First Pass Yield (FPY) is achieved and failures are reduced.

    Competences, skills and experience    

    • 1-3 years' experience in Manufacturing Environment.
    • B-Tech / BSc in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
    • MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint experience.
    • Advanced Access, Excel, Visio, MS Project experience, AutoCAD - advantageous.
    • Experience in Mining Equipment Manufacturing will be advantageous.
    • Valid driver's license will be advantageous.

    Quality Control Technician

    Mission:

    • The mission of a QC Technician at Weco is to uphold uncompromising quality standards in the manufacturing of rock drill components. They will continuously improve and refine quality control methods, ensuring all products meet our rigorous specifications before reaching our customers. With a critical eye for detail, they serve as the final safeguard of quality, preventing defects from leaving the production line.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough inspections of rock drilling components to ensure that they meet quality standards and specifications.
    • Utilize precision measuring tools including micrometres, callipers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
    • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to understand the required standards for each component.
    • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of findings and measurements.
    • Identify and report any non-conformances or defects in materials and workmanship.
    • Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality control processes and reduce defects.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards.

     Competences, Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment.
    • Additional technical training or certifications in quality control or a related field is preferred
    • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and height gauges.
    • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
    • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
    • Ability to address ambiguity to ensure that quality control is effective, efficient and reliable
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve quality issues.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Familiarity with quality control software and tools is a plus.

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Metal industries trade like Tool, Jig & Die Maker or Turner Machinist, Fitter & Turner, Millwright

    Service Technician - Mokgalakwena

    Main Responsibilities 

    • To troubleshoot system problems and the repair of such work
    • To perform duties on workshop floor of site and underground
    • To participate and assure a high standard of work
    • Rectify all electrical and mechanical breakdowns
    • Ensure legal compliance on all machines
    • Quality work at all times
    • After hours and standby duties
    • Be part of the safety programme and good housekeeping
    • To be part of the workshop team
    • Time keeping as per company rules and regulations
    • In case of any off-site work company to provide transport
    • Expected to assist in other areas/divisions in the company when needed

    Required Skills and Capabilities

    • Technical background
    • Trade qualified artisan
    • Valid driver's licence
    • Good product knowledge
    • Interpersonal skills to work as part of the Workshop team
    • Be presentable to customers in grooming and dress code

    Educational Qualification

    • Grade 12/NTC 3 with trade qualification
