    Engagement Manager - Management Consulting

    As the successful candidate, you will:

    • Develop and nurture long-term client relationships
    • Manage advisory projects and project teams, leveraging expert resources from the rest of the company
    • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects, while providing quality assurance to ensure work is delivered to the highest possible standard
    • Develop and coach more junior colleagues from the Advisory practice

    You bring to the role:

    • 8+ years of management consulting or relevant industry experience
    • Solid functional knowledge in two or more of the following areas: Strategy, Transaction Support, Business Readiness & Transformation, Capital Productivity, Supply Chain, Asset & Maintenance Management, Organization Effectiveness, and Risk Management
    • Proven industry experience in mining, metals, energy or infrastructure
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience, an MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree is advantageous
    • Experience in managing and executing projects
    • Comfortable dealing with complexity and the ability to distill value during projects
    • Proven client relationship management and business development skills
    • Motivating and supportive leadership skills
    • Strong strategic problem solving
    • Written and verbal communication skills

    Assistant Resident Engineer Structures - CPT

    Requirements:

    • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, 8 – 10 years construction supervision experience on road, bridge & civil services construction projects. Either PrEng/ PrTech / PrTechni registration with ECSA will be a requirement. Knowledge and understanding of the COLTO Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Works and the NEC 4 contract will be beneficial.

    Job Description: The duties of the Assistant Resident Engineer will include the following:

    • Monitoring construction progress in line with the approved programme and reporting to the Resident Engineer (RE).
    • Implement the Engineer’s quality control plan.
    • Inspect the works, monitor quality, arrange for acceptance control testing, prepare statistical reports of test results and approve/reject work.
    • Progressive measuring and certification of completed work. and update final estimates of work.
    • Monitoring, measurement and quality acceptance control of:
    • Setting out of structures, excavations for foundations, substructures, superstructures, reinforcing, concrete strengths and finishing.
    • Assisting the RE with issuing of site instructions and ensuring work is carried out in according to the construction drawings.
    • Verify the contractor’s daily site diary and keeping records of construction progress photographs.
    • Assist with preparation of variation orders and dayworks.
    • Assist with preparation of expenditure reports and costing and estimating of new work.
    • Assist with monitoring and reporting of Contractor’s CPG commitments.
    • Attend site progress and technical meetings and all other meetings relating to the Targeted Enterprises and Targeted Labour.  Assist with preparation of minutes.
    • Monitor the Contractor’s compliance with the OH&S Act.
    • Assist the RE with contractual claims.
    • Compile as-built data and drawings in accordance with the WCG standard requirements.
    •  Assist with preparation of the contract completion report and final inspection at the end of defects period.
    • Assist the RE with any other work as required

    Senior Rail Design Engineer - JHB

    As a successful candidate, you will be required;

    • Planning, organizing and working with technical groups in the delivery of project deliverable requirements, this includes interfaces with rail and terminal operations, signaling, wayside monitoring, overhear catenary systems, rail communications, structures, drainage, roads and rolling stock;
    • Completing civil engineering analyses and review including: evaluating vertical and horizontal grade and track alignments; quantity and construction cost estimates; engineering design reports; technical specifications; material and equipment selection; cost estimates; construction contract documentation; compilation of design/construction drawings; etc.
    • Interfacing and communicating with the Client on project specific tasks;
    • Providing support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, estimating deliverables and the associated effort to complete;
    • Participating with senior leaders in the establishment of short- and long-term plans for the development and growth of the group in the region;
    • Providing support to other Hatch offices around the globe in the development and delivery of project requirements;
    • Through your project efforts and involvement in industry activities, developing and maintaining client relations;
    • Actively participating in and supporting internal and external development and training activities;
    • As appropriate, supporting the development of more junior staff within the region;
    • Support to business initiatives and projects within the Africa, Europe and Middle East region;
    • Ensuring compliance to Hatch quality policies and procedures;
    • Ensure quality of all models and drawings including accuracy of models and layout of drawings;
    • Ensuring we follow a design for safety approach;
    • Managing and leading the rail design team on projects.

     

    You will bring to the role;

    • Engineering degree from an accredited University;
    • 7 years+ of rail industry experience;
    • Registered with ECSA as a Pr.Eng. in South Africa;
    • Project Management and/or Project Engineering experience, including client-consultant interaction;
    • Work knowledge and use of Civil 3D for design purposes;
    • Knowledge of Africa, Europe and Middle East rail design standards and best practices;
    • Able to work in a team environment, working on multiple projects simultaneously, mentoring or supervising Engineers-in-Training and junior designers;
    • Able to write clear, concise technical reports and proposals;
    • Able to check and review the work of other staff and consultants.

    Preferred

    • Involved in initiatives within the rail environment to enhance work methodologies and embrace company policy and change by implementing the 3D data-centric vision and ensuring the perceived advancements are seen to fruition.
