    Instrument Engineer Projects - (1313)

    Profile Requirements:

    • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering - Process Instrumentation (Diploma from University of Technology)
    • Preference: Bachelor’s Degree or B-Tech Degree
    • Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or eligible.

    Experience:

    • 5 years’ relevant experience in instrumentation engineering in an industrial environment, with specific focus on projects.
    • 3 years minimum experience in a projects environment.
    • Must have an understanding of projects elements which includes scope, time, quality, costs, human resource,   communication, risk and procurement management.
    • Must have an understanding of projects life cycles.
    • Knowledge and experience in engineering design, developing and maintaining of systems to meet required specifications, construction, commissioning and handover phases of project execution.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Development of technical solutions for the A&I engineering discipline for capital projects.
    • Provide technical support and utilize the Front End Loading (FEL) process to develop proper engineering solutions for capital projects.
    • Accountable for A&I project engineering and verification of construction work against the design within the designated plant areas.
    • Compiles and ensure proper scoping, planning, quality compliance, execution and commissioning of A&I scope in all projects and including successful shutdown execution.
    • Monitors the A&I scope within projects to ensure they are completed within committed time, scope, quality and agreed budget.
    • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the A&I Mondi Engineering Standards, Processes and Procedures which help in governance, quality and compliance.
    • Ensures compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental policies and ensure legal compliance.
    • Accountable for development of Automation & Instrumentation (A&I) solutions for capital projects.
    • Responsible for implementation of A&I discipline scope on capital projects.
    • Co-ordination of A&I draftsman’s activities and deliverables on capital projects to ensure that works are execute in line with project requirements.
    • Development and maintenance of technical instrumentation standards for Mondi South Africa
    • Control and monitoring of A&I work performance to ensure timeous completion of projects.
    • Ensures that relevant engineering processes and standards are applied.
    • Actively responsible for design, implementation, testing and commissioning of automation solutions.

    Instrumentation Construction Coordinator - (1314)

    Profile Requirements:

    • Instrumentation Trade test
    • N6 Diploma in Electrical Engineering – Process Instrumentation or National Diploma in Engineering (From a University of Technology)
    • Registration as Professional Technician with ECSA (or eligible)
    • Registration as a Professional Construction Manager with SACPCMP
    • 1 year minimum diploma/certificate in Project Management

    Experience:

    • Experience in a supervisory position (preferably construction supervision)
    • 3 years minimum in the project construction environment.
    • 5 years relevant experience in instrumentation system installation, supervision, commissioning experience required.
    • Exposure to different industrial communication protocol (Profibus PA, HART, 4-20mA), automation systems and Metso DCS required.
    • Basic understanding of the project life cycles

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Planning of Projects    
    • Assist the project manager in planning the project 
    • Identify all statutory requirements for allocated projects and ensure requirements are addressed  
    • Assist the project manager in creating a schedule for the construction work                
    • Ensure that a Control Quality Plan is available for project construction activities    
    • Assess Project Construction Safety Risks   
    • Asses Project Construction Progress Risks 
    • Preparation for Construction Work    
    • Ensure that technical drawings are distributed to contractors as required                
    • Ensure that records are available to complete as- built drawings
    • Establish material and equipment requirements, prepare material/equipment list and compile technical specifications for purchasing                
    • Assist with enquiry documents before distribution to ensure that the scope of work, quality provision [Standards & Specifications] and construction time lines have been correctly specified
    • Initiate orders for equipment / materials      
    • Recommend contractor selection     
    • Advise project personnel on suitable vendors for equipment and labour supply       
    • Coordinate and Monitor Project Construction Activities    
    • Ensure mill standards are met
    • Maintain safe & clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules & regulations   
    • Lead Project / Site meetings  
    • Liaise with contractors and suppliers
    • Identify problem areas and make sound decisions to rectify       
    • Report on construction progress to project manager and customers     
    • Review quality control plans   
    • Agree upon action plans to rectify quality deviations when required      
    • Keep accurate records of material and labour costs during construction
    • Identify and manage project progress and safety risks     
    • Ensure compliance to all statutory requirements    
    • Checking quality of equipment / material on arrival
    • Approve invoices for payment
    • Report all injuries and close calls to the project manager and medical facility                 
    • Plan and Conduct “ Cold and Hot” Commissioning
    • Ensure all pre-commissioning protocols have been signed off prior to cold commissioning  
    • Carry out Cold commissioning [Field tests] of all installations     
    • Assist with Hot commissioning and monitor to identify problem areas   
    • Repair / Rectify all identified problems / discrepancies     
    • Ensure that punch lists items are addressed as required before commissioning  
    • Assess and approve / reject requests for additional work in line with company policies and procedures  
    • Fully utilize PPO as a Project Management Tool

    Environment Engineer - (1307)

    Qualifications & Expertise

    • BSc Chemical Engineering or equivalent
    • Post Graduate qualification | Environmental Engineering will be advantageous 
    • South African Driver’s License
    • Understanding of Engineering principles, standards, and practices; maintenance philosophies (where applicable); legal compliance and manufacturing criteria.

    Job Experience

    • 5 – 10 years’ experience in process engineering in a specialist, supervisor or senior role with specific reference to the related leadership competencies within a Chemical or Manufacturing Industry
    • Risk prevention orientation.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensuring environmental compliance of the production process.
    • Supporting the Environmental Manager in meeting sustainability targets in line with Mondi Group’s MAP2030 goals.
    • Use engineering disciplines in developing solutions to problems such as wastewater quality, waste to landfill reduction and air quality.
    • Environmental engineering design input for mill investment projects.
    • Advising on environmental best practice for pollution control technology.
    • Developing and implementing environmental management plans aligned to Mondi’s strategic objectives.
    • Ensuring sound and effective financial management of the environmental section.
    • Effective and efficient reporting to enable strategic decision-making.
    • External and internal report writing on environmental performance.
    • Effective people management.
    • Manage and monitor departmental health, safety, environmental and quality aspects.
