    Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer (MAF) - Makhanda

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and community engagement, recognizing differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level.
    • In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning, research and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and institutional levels.

    The Requirements

    Associate Professor:

    • CA(SA) at the date of application, with either a Master’s degree or PhD in Management Accounting and Finance or related field.
    • Professional experience in Management Accounting and Finance or equivalent.
    • Considerable teaching experience in Management Accounting and Finance, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required on a SAICA CA-accredited programme.
    • Supervision at Master’s and/or PhD levels required.
    • Emerging national profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles.

     Senior Lecturer

    •  CA(SA) at the date of application, with a Master’s degree in Management Accounting and Finance or related field.
    • Professional experience in Management Accounting and Finance or equivalent.
    • Considerable teaching experience in management accounting and finance at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required for a SAICA CA - accredited programme.
    • Growing national profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles.

    Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer In The Department Of Secondary And Post-School Education

    Main Objectives

    •  All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research), community engagement, and professional involvement in their field beyond the university, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level. 
    • In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning, research, professional involvement in the field, and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution.     Requirements

    Associate Professor

    • A PhD in Education with considerable teaching experience in Initial Teacher Education and post-graduate programmes with: -
    • Higher Education teaching experience in the following disciplinary areas: English Language Teaching and Academic Literacies/ Development.
    • Research supervision experience of Master of Education students required, and of PhD students preferred.
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal)
    • School teaching experience and the ability to speak more than one South African language will be advantages. 

    Senior Lecturer

    Lecturer (NGAP) In The Department Of Ichthyology And Fisheries Science

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level.

    The requirements

    • At least an MSc in an ichthyological, fisheries science or aquaculture topic or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD or candidates who have made significant progress towards completing a PhD in a topic that is ichthyological, fisheries science, or aquaculture related.
    • Tutoring, facilitation, or conference presentation experience required. No teaching experience is required, but teaching experience in Aquaculture, ichthyology, and biological statistics will be an advantage.
    • No research supervision is required, but previous supervision experience will place the candidate at an advantage.
    • Some administrative or management experience, albeit in informal contexts, e.g., student or sports clubs, work experiences, but administrative or management experience in the workplace will place the candidate at an advantage.

    Admin Assistant: International Library Of African Music (ILAM)

    Main Objectives

    • To provide financial administrative, secretarial and front-line service for the Institute.

    The requirements

    • Grade 12 with preferably with accounting as a subject, plus approximately 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
    • Previous experience working with budgets where the reconciliations of accounts was essential.
    • Previous administrative experience within a computerized administration environment with a working knowledge and understanding of word-processing, Excel, Microsoft, the internet and emails.
    • Previous experience developing effective administrative systems and processes within an electronic administrative environment.

    Lecturer (NGAP) In School Of Journalism And Media Studies

    Main Objectives

    • Ability to teach and research in some or all of the following areas: Design Studies, Graphic Design, Design Methodologies, Digital Media Studies, Visual Language and Literacy, Visual Communication, Design practice
    • Research supervision experience at Honours and Masters level will be an advantage.
    • Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles are an advantage  (leadership roles may be informal).
