    Sheq Manager - Kathu

    Job Overview

    • Responsible for ensuring that the the organization's safety, health, environmental and quality program is implemented and continuously improves. Plays a leading role in the creation, maintenance, and review of SHEQ systems that enable the organization to reach and maintain industry standards and legal compliance.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a SHEQ management system for the organization's mining operations
    • Regularly review, monitor, and report on SHEQ performance
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory SHEQ requirements
    • Conduct SHEQ risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are in place
    • Manage and investigate SHEQ incidents and provide recommendations for corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
    • Develop and deliver SHEQ training courses to employees and contractors
    • Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies and industry organizations
    • Create and maintain a system for tracking and reporting SHEQ metrics to senior management
    • Develop SHEQ policies and procedures, ensuring they are up to date and communicated to all employees
    • Monitor SHEQ performance against targets and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
    • Establish and lead a crisis management team to respond to emergencies and critical events
    • Work collaboratively with various levels of management to develop and manage an effective safety culture.

    Qualifications & experience required

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or related field
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SHEQ management in mining or heavy industrial operations
    • Knowledge of SHEQ regulations and standards in the mining industry
    • Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies and industry organizations
    • Excellent people management skills
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade colleagues
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
    • Experience in leading and conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
    • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 standards.

    Diesel Mechanic - Kathu

    Job Overview

    • The Diesel Mechanic is expected to provide quality repair and maintenance activities on earthmoving machines to meet and exceed manufacturer specifications against strict compliance to the environmental, health and safety requirements.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Conducting daily inspections on machines and resolving all mechanical and electrical deviations picked
    • Conducting hazard identification and risk assessment and ensuring that mitigations are in place to maintain a safe working environment and providing mitigation to risks or reporting to supervision where high accident potentials exist
    • Responding to breakdowns and resolving them at the earliest possible to minimize downtime
    • Assisting operators with care, maintenance and operational requirements on machinesand ensuring that machinery testing is done after each service, repair and whenever required
    • Identifying and reporting any signs indicating potential failure to supervision and planning interventions work to ensure these are arrested before failure
    • Identifying, reporting and correcting any safety deviations and ensuring that the machines are never operated in an unsafe manner.
    • Providing care on machines to ensure that no components are inadvertently damaged or are maintained in a secure manner to avoid damage and pilferage
    • Scheduling maintenance times, parts, consumables and any additional labor required
    • Immediately calling out for assistance where the task at hand is beyond self -capability and working with supervision on logistics to obtain the labor
    • Arranging adequate tools, spares, consumables and any special devices like lifting equipment to enable smooth completion of tasks whenever needed
    • Immediately completing all applicable documents like risk assessments, job cards, timesheets, incident forms, waybills etc. as instructed and submitting accordingly before end of each shift.

    Qualifications & experience required
    Requirements:

    • Matric
    • Mechanical /Electrical Engineering National Diploma or Artisan Trade (Red Seal)
    • Driver’s license Code 10
    • Minimum 5 years of experience working in the Mines on maintenance of heavy mechanical equipment
