    Supervisor: Repairs & Maintenance Inhouse

    Perform operational tasks and duties associated with the role.

    • Receive job cards from Maintenance Manager and do an inspection together with the MM where possible.  Alternatively, report back to MM on any additional repairs needed.
    • Ensure that units are completed on time by managing staff and stock and having daily discussions with the MM regarding all teams and issues.
    • Assisting handymen where necessary.
    • Requesting electricity and water where needed from either MM or Administrator.
    • Basic plumbing:  Repair leaking toilets, pipes, taps.  Install P-traps, toilet pans, taps, basins.
    • Basic carpentry:  Repair cupboard doors, install readymade cupboards & tops, install vanity cupboards. Repair/replace doors in units including solid doors. Replace shelves and adjust hinges. 
    • Basic electrical repairs:  Repair/replace plugs, light fittings, and bulbs. Replace stove plates.
    • Painting – have a basic knowledge of different paints, and prep work where leakages or other damaged were incurred before painting.
    • General maintenance:  Replace curtain rails, window handles, door frames, do tiling and screeding (small areas).  Repair/replace locks of both wooden doors and security gates.
    • Maintain tools, vehicles and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
    • Write out orders for stock and ensure that handymen receive order timeously.
    • Report back to In-House Manager on all outstanding jobs and advising if specific repairs should be done by an outside contractor.  That mainly pertains to flooring and painting of entire units.

    Requirements

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Minimum Grade 10
    • MS Office:
    • MS Excel – Basic.
    • MS Outlook – Basic.
    • Code 08 Drivers License required.
    • Basic Electrical Certificate an advantage.

    Skills & Knowledge Required:

    • 4 years’ experience in a maintenance environment.
    • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety including PPE required.
    • Extensive knowledge of tools and materials & quantities needed for tasks.

    • To maintain the buildings.
    • Minor plumbing repairs as required.
    • Minor electrical repairs (e.g. fit a new light fitting, change the light bulbs, fix the plugs etc.)
    • Paint work as required.
    • General maintenance (e.g. carpentry, tiling, changing of locks, fixing door hinges etc.)
    • Safe keeping of assigned tools, equipment and stock.Working conditions:
    • Indoors mostly however outdoors work also required. Working at heights will also be required. Carrying of heavy items may be required.
    • May be required to work at multiple buildings. Own transport not required.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Basic handyman experience.
