    Campus Deputy Head - Durban North

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Human Capital Management

    • Ensures that the Academic, Operations, Student Services and Admissions Centre staff teams have correct capacity.
    • Manages performance of staff within reporting teams.
    • Adheres to company Human Resources processes and policies and ensures that reporting teams adhere to these processes and policies accordingly.
    • Manages Human Resources within reporting teams.
    • Interviews potential new staff members and makes recommendations to management.
    • Ensures that staff have been trained and meet the requirements as set out by management in order to understand policy and procedure.
    • Deputize for the Campus Head in his/her absence

    Budget Management

    • Oversees departmental budgets.
    • Manages budget projected versus actual.
    • Manages spend on budget.
    • Revises budgets as and when required.
    • Addresses overspending and under spending and takes remedial action.
    • Reports to Campus Head on overspend and under spend and how the budget is being managed.

    Quality Assurance of Academic Delivery

    • Oversees the allocation of lecturers, programme management and operational academic delivery for the academic year.
    • Monitoring and evaluation including the tracking of targets and continuous improvement initiatives and strategies
    • Promotes a culture of Teaching and Learning practices that meet and exceed all quality requirements

    Operations Management

    • Ensures that departments are working in line with The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) policies and procedures.
    • Develops and implements systems to ensure smooth running of the departments.
    • Continually reviews current systems and procedures in place to ensure that outputs are high quality and effective.

    Student Services Management

    • Ensures that departments are working in line with The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) policies and procedures.
    • Develops and implements systems to ensure smooth running of the departments.
    • Continually reviews current offering in place to ensure robust and engaging student cantered experience

    Admissions and Graduation Management

    • Ensures that department is working in line with The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) admissions and graduation policies and procedures
    • Develops and implements systems to ensure smooth running of the department.
    • Continually reviews current systems and procedures in place to ensure compliance of the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) policies and procedures

    Stakeholder Management

    • Ensures quality student centered and customer service focus within each department
    • Oversees Student Disciplinary matters
    • Manages and resolves escalated stakeholder queries and concerns timeously in accordance with student centered approach

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree (NQF Level 7).  Postgraduate Diploma / Bachelor Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Education advantageous.

    Minimum Work Experience Required:

    • Minimum of 6 years Senior Manager in Education environment with 2 years Senior Management experience

    Lecturer: School Of Humanities And Social Sciences (Part-Time)

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Lecturing
    • Marking
    • Classroom management
    • Attending meetings

    Competencies Required:

    • Excellent communications skills
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Excellent time management (meeting dates and deadlines timeously)

    Minimum Education Requirements:

    • NQF 6,7 or 8 qualification in Humanities, Language or
    • Journalism disciplines where English is a major

    Alternatively:

    • NQF 7 qualification where English is a major
    • Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
    • Lecturing experience in English or Linguistics
    • Work experience as a journalist, editor, publisher, writer

    Handyman (Part-Time)

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform minor repairs and maintenance.
    • Set up venues as needed by any staff for events.
    • Paint and/or repair gaps or crevices (on walls, sidewalks etc.)
    • Undertake light installation of carpeting.
    • Look after and take accountability of tools, equipment and chemicals in storerooms.
    • Repair equipment or appliances where possible.
    • Undertake minor plumbing or electrical work
    • Assist contractors while on site with major electrical, plumbing work.
    • Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks where needed or instructed by Facilities Co-ordinator.
    • Identify and report the need for any repairs to line manager.
    • Oversee subcontracted services on the campus under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator
    • Perform regular inspections on the campus to identify items and areas requiring attention
    • Responsible on occasion for the opening and closing of the campus.
    • Responsible for sourcing quotes for campus, under direction of the Facilities Coordinator
    • Will be based at the Pietermaritzburg campus.
    • Any ad hoc duties as directed by the Facilities Co-ordinator.
    • EHS inspections and completion of relevant documentation. Support in preparation for internal and external Health and Safety audits.
    • Support with event logistics when required.
    • Good communication is key
    • Some experience with collaborating with teams is advantageous / or has had experience with delegating tasks

    Competencies required:

    • Well-presented and good communication skills
    • Well-organized
    • Must have problem-solving skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Admin skills are required as this person will need to be able to manage email communication, correspond with contractors and process purchase orders.
    • Word, excel and adobe skills required. I hesitate to state this as basic – they need to be competent in this regard.
    • Good communication
    • Some experience with collaborating with teams is advantageous / or has had experience with delegating tasks
    • Basic computer skills
    • Basic math skills

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    • Matric or equivalent

    Minimum Experience Requirements:

    • Proven experience as handyman.
    • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment.
    • Basic understanding of electrical and plumbing.

    • Own reliable vehicle
    • Clear criminal record
    • Minimum code B drivers license (Code EB preferred)
