    Packer

    Job Description

    • Preventing line from standing unnecessary
    • Packing good quality ends
    • Escalate any quality defects/rejections from camera to End maker   
    • Ensure good quality sleeves are used 
    • Conduct visual inspections of ends
    • Ensure production is not delayed from a packer point of view
    • Assist in jam removal and with starting up of the line
    • Ensure housekeeping rules are being adhere to 
    • Ensure that equipment and work area is always clean
    • Ensuring that the correct packing configuration is applied
    • Ensuring that correct packing equipment is applied
    • Ensuring that all health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
    • Ensure that pallets are labelled before leaving the line.
    • To assist in the jam removal and starting up of line if deemed safe to       do so

    Job Requirements

    • Knowledge of Can construction (advantageous)
    • Previous packing or sorting (advantageous)
    • Must have good eye sight and competent in colour perception
    • Must be prepared  to work shifts and overtime
    • Ability to work within a team-based environment

    Operator Unloader

    Job Description

    Purpose of the Role: Operate the unloader on Coating/Printing line to ensuring proper stacking and operate the unloader controls for stacking to perform removal of complete stillage’s.

    • Assist with the placing of rollers into machine and wash-ups.
    • Ensure rollers, inks, coatings, and solvents are on the line before changeover.
    • Ensure stillage cards and boards are taken to the unloader.
    • Ensure every 100th sheet is placed in sample rack.
    • Report sub-standard production to line operator.
    • Ensure all sub-standard plate, waste, damaged sheets are removed from wickets before stacking.
    • Ensure machine is kept clean.
    • Ensure floor is kept clean and free of rubbish.
    • When oven is empty to assist in washing coater/printing or production units as directed by operator/printer.
    • Assist with any function of the wash up when requested to by printer or printers assistant or coating operator.
    • Be prepared to carry out any reasonable request in the department by a more senior person including printer’s assistant or coating operator.
    • Ensure material put by mixer before being used.
    • Assist in loading of tinplate on line and also pushing stack into feeder.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Have Grade 12
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG)

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Comply with all plant safety instructions and have manufacturing working knowledge

    Competencies:

    Quality Assurance Auditor (Durban)

    Job Description

    Key Performance Areas will include:

    • Accurately measuring quality parameters and compare against standard specifications.
    • Auditing of Quality and BRC Management System and Facilitate gap closure with relevant Stakeholders.
    • Participate in Customer complaints investigations and Problem Solving.
    • Identification of non-conforming raw material and finish goods and facilitate Corrective Action implementation
    • On Time reporting and swift decision making on Quality matters
    • Developing procedures and work instructions in support of business operations

    Canmaker

    Job Description

    Purpose of the Role: Safe and efficient manufacture of good quality cans produced to production plan to meet customer requirements.

    • Conduct regular check on spoilage to analyze and investigate causes and implement corrective action
    • Correct interpretation and conformance to quality standard
    • Inform Foreman re quality trends in order to take corrective action
    • Reject poor quality production and rectify cause
    • Evaluate raw material and reject if necessary

    Quality Assurance Auditor (Johannesburg)

    Job Description

    • Accurate and timely reporting of various reports and sending to appropriate people
    • Generating shift hand-over reports detailing issues/concerns experienced on shift
    • Conducting process and Ad Hoc audits based on business needs
    • Verification of critical QC checks conducted
    • Daily verification conducted on all gauges and ensuring Datalyser transfers operational
    • Raising and closing out all non-conforming activities on Q-Pulse timeously
    • Daily verification testing of key preventive quality equipment i.e. camera’s, light tester etc.
    • Ensuring equipment runs within agreed process parameters and perform adjustments where required

    Service Technician CTS

    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    • To provide after sales technical support to Bevcan and its customers by supporting Bevcan component performance on customer filling lines.
    • Provide best practice information to Bevcan’s customers on the full can filling value chain. Audit these processes and provide recommendations for improvements
    • To build capability in Bevcan’s customer’s plants focusing on double seam evaluation and control, seamer asset care practices and overall can filling line process best practices
    • Safety: Full compliance to Nampak and customer safety policies and protocols as well as the OSHACT
    • Administration: Visit report compilation, distribution, including information collating with Monthly and Quarterly reports; Customer Purchase order collection;
    • Customer Operational Support: Customer Information pack communication and training; seamer tooling condition tracking including training on tooling care and maintenance as well as tooling sales; customer line process compliance assessments; Can-handling audits and training; respond to customer call outs
    • Bevcan Operational Support: Support Quality, Sales and Operation teams on Bevcan component performance issues at customers; Execute component trials at customers and support Technical Development projects to ensure runability on customer filling lines

    Job Requirements

    The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

    • N6 – Mechanical Engineering and be a qualified Artisan – Fitter and Turner, Turner Machinist or Toolmaker
    • 3 years’ work experience as a qualified artisan in FMCG environment
    • Strong interpersonal/communications skills, verbal and written
    • Computer literate specifically on Word, Excel and Power Point
    • Can and end making experience or FMCG work experience will be an advantage
    • Competence and experience on ERP systems such as JDE, SAP etc will be an advantage

    Job Description

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • To ensure that the equipment / machinery in the can manufacturing plant are maintained in an excellent operational condition by conducting Planned Maintenance, condition monitoring & responding to Work Arising
    • Conduct Planned Maintenance on equipment/machinery as per Planned Work Orders
    • To provide good workmanship on all maintenance work, repairs & installations carried out
    • Attend promptly and effectively to all mechanical breakdowns in order of priority to keep downtime as low as possible
    • Perform work safely and tidy area upon completion of all maintenance work
    • Provide timeous suitable feedback to immediate supervisor and production.

    Job Description

    • Ensure non-conforming product is sorted and reworked.
    • Inspect isolated cans/pallets against quality standards.
    • Perform tests and checks with relevant instruments and equipment when required.
    • Conduct stock counts for non-conforming products.
    • Assist with resampling and release/booking of isolated pallets.
