    Primary School Assistant Principal (Acting) - Spark Centurion - 2025

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the continual professional development of our educators by coaching members of the instructional staff to the successful completion of the goals set in their individualised professional growth plans. This includes designing and facilitating weekly professional development sessions for the whole faculty, as well as arranging for individual professional growth opportunities.

    Requirements

    Retention & Complaint Interventions:

    • Engage with parents who have expressed dissatisfaction or intent to terminate.
    • Apply appropriate retention strategies and tools to attempt recovery of at-risk families.

    Operational Execution & Efficiency

    • Design and implement a short, medium and long-term digital marketing roadmap aligned to brand strategy and business goals.

    Compliance Officer - Spark Schools

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are implemented and adhered to by relevant stakeholders across all the school sites and support office to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Periodically review, update and communicate health & safety strategy, policies, regulations and SOPs to ensure relevance, on-going compliance and continuous improvement.
    • Stay up-to-date with new or revised legislation pertaining to health, safety and welfare.
    • Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health by providing expert advice on health and safety matters.
    • Oversee that all Health & Safety files are up to date and in compliance with legislation.

    • Manage license and registration renewals – ensure that the relevant tracker is up-to-date and renewals have been proactively planned.
    • Understand, commit to and deliver on the assigned applicable area of responsibility and duties as appointed by the 16(2) in terms of the OHS Act Section
    • Monitor campus emergencies, including equipment breakdowns, malfunctions and alarm calls in conjunction with security companies.
    • Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving facilities and/or equipment. This may include attending to emergencies outside of working hours (e.g. break-ins).
    • Conduct inspections together with the relevant department (Department of Labour & Employment; Department of Health) inspector and implement recommended changes.
    • Ensure that all employees are aware of their respective responsibilities regarding security, health and safety in order to maintain optimised awareness and mitigation.
    • Document, investigate and report on all incidents, accidents, complaints, criminal activities, cases of ill-health and/or injuries on the sites/properties.
    • Post investigation, make recommendations for improvement and oversee the implementation of such improvements to ensure security, health and safety is maintained.
    • Report any injuries and/or accidents to the Department of Labour (DoEL) within seven (7) days and manage injury on duty claims with the Compensation Fund.
    • Report any incidents of criminal nature to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
    • Develop, implement and communicate a crisis management plan for all sites/offices across the organisation. This includes ensuring that all employees understand the process clearly.
    • Work closely with the School Leadership Teams/Site Section 8.2 Appointees to ensure that the required health and safety checklists are complete, procedures are followed and protocols are administered to the required standard.
    • Obtain a Letter of Good Standing with PSIRA and COIDA on an annual basis.
    • Establish, implement and/or communicate a structured programme of health and safety training throughout the organisation.

    Collaborate with Leadership for Holistic Scholar Support: 

    • Work closely with the Principal, Assistant Principals, and School Leadership Team to ensure that academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support systems are integrated and effectively address the needs of all scholars. 
    • Engage parents and the broader community in the academic process, building partnerships that contribute to scholar success. 

    Monitor and Improve Academic Interventions: 

    • Lead the development of individualized academic plans for scholars identified as at-risk, ensuring that tailored interventions are in place to close learning gaps. 
    • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions through ongoing data analysis and ensure adjustments are made to improve scholar outcomes. 

    Ensure Effective Use of Blended Learning Models: 

    • Oversee the integration of technology-enhanced learning through SPARK Schools’ blended learning model, ensuring that online and in-person instruction complement each other to drive student achievement. 
    • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of blended learning tools and provide feedback and training to teachers on optimizing these resources. 

    Support Scholar Responsibility and Self-Regulated Learning: 

    • Encourage scholars to take responsibility for their learning by developing study plans, setting academic goals, and engaging in self-assessment. 
    • Implement programs that foster scholar autonomy, time management, and accountability, preparing them for the rigors of high school and beyond. 

    Ensure Compliance with Educational Standards and Policies: 

    • Ensure the academic program aligns with the requirements of the Department of Basic Education and Umalusi accreditation, preparing scholars to meet national education standards. 
    • Lead efforts to comply with regulatory and reporting requirements, ensuring that all academic records and assessments are in line with SPARK Schools’ policies. 

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Criteria:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

    • English language fluency
    • Completed B.Ed or PGCE degree (SP & FET) majoring in Life Sciences  
    • Familiarity with high school Matric requirements including Senior and FET phase CAPs curricula with speciality in the Sciences
    • SACE registration
    • A clear/clean criminal record
    • Completed at least 3-4 years of excellent classroom instruction in intermediate, senior or FET phase 
    • Held a leadership role in primary school or high school

    High School Facilities Maintenance Staff (Outside) - Spark Blue Downs (WC)- 2025

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain the upkeep of the school building, gardens, and grounds.
    • Report facilities maintenance issues to school leadership and assist with repairs where applicable.
    • Ensure that the school premises are safe for students, staff and parents.
    • Assist with welcoming students during daily arrivals and dismissals, as required by school leadership.

    High School English Home Language Educator (Temp) - Spark Midrand High - 2025

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan for, teach and co-teach face to face and distance lessons for and deliver academic and clubs lessons.
    • Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging learning experiences and to create and implement high quality individualised behaviour and learning plans for scholars.
    • Participate actively in all scheduled professional development sessions.
    • Develop and administer formative and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth for all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings.
