    Production Engineer - Delmas

    Role Purpose 

    The position will be responsible for performing and coordinating the various commercial and technical tasks associated with management of assigned manufacturing/production jobs at FLSmidth Delmas facility. The suitable candidate must ensure:

    • Customer and FLSmidth business requirements are met.
    • Work is conducted in accordance with accepted engineering practices and FLSmidth standards.
    • There is effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and project participants.
    • Assigned projects are completed on schedule, at the right quality and within budget.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Technical management and coordination of manufacturing/production jobs for ensuring on time delivery.
    • Take project responsibility for the procurement, expediting and planning activities of the business.
    • Ensure that the needs and expectations of the customer are clearly defined and understood and that all necessary information is obtained
    • Co-ordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information within FLSmidth and between the company and the customer. Assist with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
    • Assess the condition of components / equipment sent for refurbishment and to determine the scope of supply for projects, prepare the bill of materials and formulate product refurbishment processes and procedures in conjunction with FLSmidth engineering departments and technical centres.
    • Where applicable, consult or negotiate with clients to prepare and obtain approval of fabrication and refurbishment project specifications.
    • Manage the re-design process of equipment where the customer has experienced problems with the existing design or where new technology can be incorporated to improve production efficiency & lead to cost reductions.
    • Analyse technology, resource needs and market trends, to plan and assess the feasibility of refurbishment and manufacturing projects at Delmas.
    • Create bills of material and assist with the development and preparation of detailed procedures for the manufacturing, refurbishment, quality assurance, assembly, testing, packaging, transportation of FLSmidth equipment.
    • Ensure that project costs and charges are correctly represented for accounting purposes.
    • Evaluate project performance of the various functional areas at FLSmidth. Where applicable, make recommendations to facilitate improved operational effectiveness.
    • Assist with the development and preparation of technical specifications for manufacturing, refurbishment, quality assurance, assembly, testing and packaging activities at FLSmidth Delmas.
    • Review and approve quality control plans.
    • Schedule and co-ordinate the quality assurance of manufactured and refurbished components.
    • Supervise the disassembly, assembly, testing and of equipment.
    • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans in conjunction with management and colleagues to accomplish goals and direct the integration of activities.
    • Perform administrative functions such as, but not limited to the reviewing and writing of reports and making recommendations regarding the procurement of materials or outsourced services.

    What you bring

    • A formal Mechanical Engineering qualification – BSc. Mech. Eng., B Tech Mech. Eng. or NHD Mech. Eng.and/or a Minimum of 5 years relevant technical engineering experience.
    • Experience and knowledge of assembly and production environment.
    • Strong computer literacy. (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and CAD)
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the industry, competitors and rotating mechanical equipment would be beneficial.

    Proposals Administrator - Mining Site Sales

    Purpose of the role

    To ensure that the proposals administration activities are efficiently executed and controlled, to promote order intake, sound business relationships, and a healthy product market within the company. To continuously assist in improving Proposal’s efficiency, and to contribute strongly to the overall company result, culture, and development.

    Your responsibilities

    Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

    • This role will entail handling RFQ received from customers and creating Proposals for our South African Team.
    • Close liaison with the external Sales team and Key Account Managers to support achievement of the Order Intake sales budget and margin expectancy.
    • Ensure that enquiries are registered and distributed to applicable departments timeously, and to prepare accurate tender documents and pricing in line with company guidelines for presentation within tender closing dates.
    • Submission of Reports relating to RFQ and Purchase Orders Received.
    • Create and maintain excellent customer relationships through prompt response to customer’s needs.
    • Maintain and develop good supplier relationships that enhance the company’s ability to obtain
    • competitive prices.
    • Communicates with and influences peers across the teams.
    • Ensure complete and accurate order handovers to the order handling department by participating in hand-over meetings with all departments concerned and prepare the initial contract file for delivery to the order handling department.
    • Ensuring policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed.

    What you bring

    • Matric, or a relevant engineering or business-related qualification
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience or Experience in a technical and / or sales environment.
    • Knowledge of the FLSmidth products and technical solutions -.
    • Computer experience using standard MS Office suite of programs is required
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to work with customers, and other personnel daily.
    • Ability to work in a team or individually on multiple concurrent projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
    • Good organization, multitasking and time management skills.

    Proposals Engineer - Johannesburg

    Role Purpose
    To build and develop the regional market in conjunction with the regional sales team (capital and service) and to drive the long-term business strategy for the product line with a view to increase market share and to promote retention of service business. Continuously improve product operational efficiency and the technical competence of the local team in the product line. Provide expert knowledge and support for the product line, from a process, mechanical, operational, maintenance and R&D perspective. To contribute strongly to the overall company result and culture.

    Your responsibilities

    • Collaborates closely with other functions within the organization to ensure the accuracy of the proposal, as well as when developing documentation.
    • Ensure positive communication both internally and externally.
    • Generates technical proposals and cost and sales calculations to support the Sales Managers in the proposal phases.
    • Managing the risks associated with the proposal.
    • Ensure accurate costing and realistic estimating on all tenders and produce documentation in line with company guidelines for presentation and review within the tender closing dates.
    • Proposes target selling prices as a basis for further calculations.
    • Engage in customers’ commercial and technical discussions and extend commercial and technical support to Sales team during the clarification process.
    • Create and maintain excellent customer relationships through prompt response to customer’s needs.
    • Handles the transfer of orders from the sales function to project execution to efficiently ensure the change of internal ownership.
    • Ensuring that proposals are delivered in full on-time.
    • Support achievement of the sales budget.

    What you bring

    • BSc Engineering Chemical, Mechanical or Metallurgy.
    • Knowledge of the FLSmidth products and technical solutions.
    • 3 or more years of relevant experience in pumps/cyclones/valves would be beneficial.
    • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
    • A structured and organized self-starter.
    • The ability to communicate at varying levels of an organization effectively.
