    Site Engineer - Kwazulu Natal

    Description

    • Exceed or achieve the site financial targets (Allowable & Productivity)
    • Assist with the adherence and implementation of policies , procedures, statutory law and regulations (Engineering & SHEQ)
    • Implement a high standard on the site to meet and exceed client satisfaction (Project milestones, Culture, Quality & Professionalism)
    • Assist with planning & programming of the project by measuring & evaluation operational performance, processes, resources in order to enhance efficiencies (Subcontractors, Plant, Formwork, Labour, Strategic materials)
    • Be effective in understanding & implementing problem solving decisions for the site.
    • Demonstrate detailed knowledge and expertise in relation to job, readily absorb new technical information and keep up to date in the field of engineering.
    • Establish clear priorities, schedule activities to ensure optimum use of time and resources, monitors performance against objectives.
    • Produce detailed project plans in which objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified.
    • Produce written communication which are clear, fluent, concise and readily understood by the intended recipient.
    • Seek all relevant information for problem solving and decision making.

    Requirements

    • Basic Surveyor skills
    • Good interpersonal and time management skills.

    Description

    • Ability to manage construction contracts effectively and efficiently.
    • Understanding of Labour and the effective management of people in a construction environment.

    Foreman (Earthworks) - Kwazulu Natal

    Description

    • Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of construction trade workers
    • Direct and lead workers engaged in construction activities.
    • Assigns work to employees using material and worker requirements data.
    • Confers with staff and workers to ensure production and personnel problems are resolved.
    • Suggests and initiates personnel actions such as promotions and transfers.
    • Examines and inspects work progress, equipment and construction activities to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.
    • Estimates material and worker requirements to complete job
    • Reads specifications and/or drawings to determine construction requirements
    • Analyses and plans installation and construction of equipment and structures
    • Locates, measures and marks location and placement of structures and equipment

    Quantity Surveyor - Kwazulu Natal

    Description

    • Ensure the Project is measured and quantities taken off in accordance with the specifications and method of measurement for the specific project.
    • Appraise the drawings in order to ensure that the correct payment items and quantities are used in payment applications in accordance with the specifications and method of measurement for the specific project. Record progress and value the work in accordance with the time frames of the particular contract ensuring the applicable quantities and rates are used.
    • Identify, record and monitor variations and changes to contract, determine the cost and impact involved in ensuring the most viable options are considered before decisions are made on site.
    • Draft Sub-Contract Agreements ensuring all risks passed on the Sub Contractor are included.
    • Prepare subcontract payment certificates
    • Produce Cost reports indicative of the financial status of the project.
    • Assist with forecasting final costs of the project
    • Liaise with clients and advise them on any commercial issues that arise, ensure all viable options are considered.
    • Assist in the preparation of contractual correspondence.
    • Provide Procurement advice and assistance during the site supplier and sub-contract tendering procedures and agreement of the contract sum.
    • Prepare cash flows indicating forecasted revenue and forecasted expenditure for the duration of the project.
    • Accurate and comprehensive maintenance of all contractual, commercial and financial documentation.

    Requirements

    • BTech or BSC Degree/Diploma in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience
    • Valid Drivers’ License
    • Strong working knowledge of civil, discipline and the capacity to understand unique project requirements.
    • Strong Analytical skills and the ability to effectively use a variety of estimating, scheduling and reporting software tools such as CCS and Buildsmart.
    • Communicate fluently in English
    • Sound knowledge of standard contract documents and specifications. 
    • SACQSP Candidate/Professional registration would be advantageous.
    • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
    • Good interpersonal and time management skills.
