    Data Scientist - Central Business Services

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to the CBS team to assist in driving data-driven decision-making.
    • The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in data science methodologies and a passion for translating complex data into actionable insights using tools such as (but inclusive of) Power BI and Excel.
    • The candidate will be responsible for analysing, and visualizing data to create informative dashboards that empower stakeholders to make informed decisions with the ability to provide insights into the data as well.

    Experience

    • 5-10 relevant experience.
    • Expert level knowledge of SQL.
    • Advanced EXCEL.
    • Experience using Power BI or similar tools.
    • Data Integrations through API, ADF, Synapse, SSIS or similar tools.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and provide solution.

    Key Competencies:

    • Modelling of complex business problems.
    • Identifying opportunities to improve business processes.
    • Building tailor made SQL solutions for monitoring and automation of controls.
    • Development of exception reports and Power BI dashboards for stakeholders in the business.
    • Utilising Store procedures to create routines that maintain reporting and automated controls.
    • Identify and build appropriate models/other solutions for use in the company's operations.
    • Creating logic links between data from various systems to facilitate cross system reporting.
    • Automation of controls in the business processes.       
    • Design and implement automated data comparisons to trigger certain processes.
    • Simplifying complex manual processes into simple automated (or semi-automated) processes,
    • Engaging with stakeholders across the business.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Statistics/Computer Science/ Engineering/ Mathematics (or combination of)

    Job Description

    • Deloitte have excellent career opportunities for Internal Auditors at a Senior Consultant level to work in the Risk Advisory department in South Africa for the Ireland office on the delivery of client engagements.
    • Our team currently work on a diverse range of projects with clients in the insurance, investment management and banking sector.
    • The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop their career.

    Responsibilities

    The typical duties a Senior Consultant will be involved in are:

    • Execution of the end-to-end internal audit for our clients, from the planning phasing including identification of risks and expected controls through to fieldwork and reporting phases.
    • Through a combination of walkthroughs and detailed testing, you will evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls for a range of business processes depending on the nature of the client business.
    • Identification of control deficiencies and opportunities to enhance our client’s internal control environment.
    • Contributing to the development of your own, and the team’s, technical acumen through continuous mentoring and leading of your audit team whilst on engagements
    • Effective communication with client personnel, team members and the Deloitte engagement manager and Partner during all phases of the engagement process
    • Preparing high quality work papers and internal audit or other assurance reports
    • Being actively involved in internal department initiatives such as training, business development activities, coaching and graduate recruitment

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Exam Qualified in ACA, ACCA, CIIA or other relevant qualification.
    • Minimum 3 years Internal Audit/ Audit /Risk and Control experience
    • Experience of internal audit services 
    • Knowledge of Solvency II, MIfid II and other relevant regulatory requirements
    • Strong academic record
    • Outstanding communication and business report writing skills.
    • Previous experience leading projects or engagements
    • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
