    Contracts Administration Manager

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Contracts Administration Manager is responsible for effectively managing the quality of output of the Contracts team to ensure that it is high standard in line with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements. 

    The tasks you'll perform:

    • Develop the various work procedures, practices, and plans for the management of contracts and ensure that deliverables are met to a high-level of accuracy.
    • Ensure all dealings with Client, Vendors and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business.
    • Manage all members of the Contracts team in compliance with applicable project specific requirements and current industry work codes and standards to ensure effective delivery of contracts.
    • Develop contract management plans, schedules and budgets for each contract, and ensure that contracts are delivered in accordance with these controls.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate contract terms and conditions and contract structures (in compliance with client requirements and standards) to suit each specific scope of work.
    • Expedite contract deliverables.
    • Maintain all relevant registers which includes contract, back charges to contractor, site instruction, potential and actual contractor variations, and required insurances. 
    • Regular communication with the relevant Manager and provide weekly reports, updates and feedbacks. 

    The expertise you'll bring

    • Tertiary Qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Commerce or Business, desirable or equivalent relevant industry experience.
    • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in contracts within minerals and/or related industries. 
    • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Hands on approach to Contracts Administration
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated experience in contract management. 
    • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong knowledge of contract law and contract document requirements. 
    • Broad multidisciplinary base knowledge in mineral processing plant / infrastructure construction.
    • Strong background, training and awareness of statutory and industry standards.

    Senior Estimator

    Job Description

    The Senior Estimator will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and interpreting contractual documents to develop detailed, comprehensive cost estimates for various large, complex projects. The Senior Estimator is more specifically responsible for the accurate, effective, and timely compilation of estimating functions, as they relate to Mining and Minerals project execution, mainly for capital and operating expenditures of the project(s).

    The tasks you'll perform (not exhaustive):

    • Preparation of all parts of an estimate under limited direction.
    • Estimating and tendering complete large complex projects as a Senior Estimator following Estimating and Tendering Procedures. Estimates may be required for concept studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies and projects. For feasibility studies, the detailed capital cost estimate will be compiled to a standard that can be adopted as a capital budget should a project be developed.
    • Directing the work of more junior staff who may be assisting with the estimating process (eg. obtaining prices, doing quantity takeoffs etc.) or completing these tasks themselves if no junior staff is assigned to a given study/project.
    • Preparing preliminary estimates upon the request of project managers.
    • Preparing estimates for contemplated change orders for on-going projects.
    • Preparing an estimating plan for specific project execution.
    • Preparing basis of estimate reports as stand-alone reports or as part of the feasibility study report deliverable and clearly communicating the estimate, basis of estimate and supporting information to stakeholders.
    • Estimating the time, materials, or equipment that are required to complete a task or project.
    • Support team members with re-forecasting and estimating activities to complete project cost forecasts (trending).
    • Gain knowledge and become fluent with company estimating software tool as required to produce the estimates and to maintain an estimating database to a consistently high standard.
    • Participate in proposal/study/project meetings as applicable.
    • Possessing complementary skills (project controls, capital cost control) such as the following and assisting the Project Controls team with these activities on an as-needed basis:
    • Assist with the conversion of capital cost estimates to capital control budgets.
    • Monitor project performance including costs, progress against schedule and internal reviews to provide a transparent assessment of critical project performances.
    • Evaluate project progress to ensure that it is meeting budgetary and deadline objectives. Recognise progress concerns and report immediately to the Project Managers to ensure projects are completed within both budgetary and schedule constraints.
    • Collate project cost reporting requirements in accordance with Company and Client standards to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
    • Prepare project specific reports including progress, financial and resource information, including actual costs, earned value and forecasts.
    • Coordinate inputs from various team members including engineering, procurement, contracts, project and construction in order to establish detailed cost, man-hour controls and schedule.
    • Liaise with and provide professional support to Project Services team in the preparation of Project deliverables.
    • Assist with the entry and administration of data into the project controls software system.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Tertiary Qualification in Quantity Surveying
    • 10+ years’ proven experience in an EPCM environment, including tender preparation
    • Knowledge of Contract conditions
    • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to interpret study level drawings, equipment lists and other data in order to prepare capital cost estimates.
    • Ability to establish capital cost estimates from first principles based upon previous experience and personal knowledge in the mineral processing industry with minimal assistance from other senior staff.
    • Ability to forecast market trends for direct and indirect costs.
    • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of project implementation, constructability, OH&S, environmental, community and industrial relations issues.
    • Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
    • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including Clients, Vendors and co-workers.
    • Display the core values and ethos of the business.
    • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.

    Manager of Process

    Job Description

    Due to growth ADP (a Lycopodium business) are searching for a Manager of Process to manage the ADP Process team. This Cape Town based leadership role will lead and continue to develop the Process group to world class standard in all areas of Minerals Processing.

    The tasks you'll perform

    • Drive the management of process design for feasibility studies and EPCM briefs.
    • Coordinate Process Group resources to allocate the most suitable resources for the delivery of studies and projects. Manage the work allocation in conjunction with the respective Group Managers

    Senior Planner

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Senior Controls Manager, the Senior Planner will be a key support to our study and/or project teams. This position will be responsible for executing and monitoring the project schedule, as well as providing up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality, in line with Company, Client and regulatory requirements.

    The tasks you'll perform

    • Establish Project schedules of each phase of the project including project development, planning approvals, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, transport, construction and commissioning.
    • Read and interpret all typical design deliverables such as flow sheets, P&ID’s drawings, equipment lists and other data required to prepare and maintain a Project Schedule. 
    • Support the Project team to prepare the Project Schedules and provide up-to-date data to assist with the management of project activities to the highest quality.
    • Respond immediately to change to ensure projects are completed on time in accordance with the contractual scope of work and services. 
    • Analyse scope changes and schedule trends and recommend actions or alternate execution options to improve schedule or mitigate delays.
    • Confirm all implementation approaches and controls are reasonable in their establishment and are met throughout the project.
    • Evaluate project progress to ensure that it is meeting budgetary and deadline objectives.
    • Recognise progress concerns and report immediately to the Project Managers to ensure projects are completed within both budgetary and schedule constraints.

    The expertise you'll bring

    • 10+ years planning experience in mineral processing/construction projects.
    • Tertiary qualification in Engineering preferred.
    • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Demonstrated ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific, relevant proprietary software packages.
    • Ability to prepare accurate, detailed schedules and reports to meet strict project deadlines.
    • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of Project Planning and Management.
    • Aptitude in building and sustaining positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and colleagues.
    • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
