    Manager Water Loss– REF: JW02EX/202526

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage and oversee the Pressure Management and maintenance activities of the UFW teams in the regions. Identify and quantify risks associated with such activities and inform the relevant Operations department. Manage and ensure that water samples are taken and delivered to the laboratories for water quality analysis to ascertain whether leaks are resulting from the water reticulation system or ground water. Develop sound mechanism for recovering money owed to JW. Co –ordinate efforts of Legal department and Customer Services.
    • Assess condition of hydrants and report findings to relevant region. Investigate problem areas and, on an annual basis, advise CAPEX of future Water mains upgrade/replacement. Investigate and report on the benefits of installing pressure management equipment, retro-fitting devices and other Water Demand Management strategies.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Plan and implement schedules for maintenance, repairs, upgrades and installations of mechanical and water-related equipment.     Operator Fitter (Long Grade) – REF: JW02EX/202526

    • Maintain and repair pressure reducing valves. Monitor pressure settings on pressure reducing valves on a daily basis.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Investigation of Wastewater Treatment Works capacity in order to support the development of CoJ. Identify the need for major treatment capacity expansion projects for WWTW by monitoring and projecting sewage flows, estimate cost and ensure that budget provision is timeously in place for implementation.

    Depot Manager – REF: JWEX02/202526

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the provision of all continuous water and sanitation service to the public throughout the allocated depot area. In close consultation with UFW Department ensure that unaccounted for water is kept to an acceptable minimum by managing all leaks and repairs. Ensure that all relevant records are kept for the entire Depot. Manage the installation, replacement, and testing of water meters to ensure compliance with National and Johannesburg Water standards.
    • Direct the development of a preventative maintenance programme for the entire water and sewer reticulation system – including large valves PRV’s and outfall sewers served by the depot area. Responsible for the efficient management of complains received. In conjunction with the Ops managers manage the response times. Interpret, and advise the Regional Manager on public needs, concerns and criticism in relation to the functional responsibility of the region.     • Consult stakeholders in respect of functional areas of region. Co-ordinate and advice the Regional Manager on all matters relating to water and sanitation services. Attend Regional service delivery meetings and ensure that decisions taken are being implemented and resolved. Ensure sound labour relations practices and management of discipline.
    • Manage personnel in accordance with Johannesburg Water policies and legislation. Ensure the implantation of performance management as per the policy. Assist with the preparation of the operating budget. Ensure cost efficient use of materials. Ensure compliance with the OHSACT and Johannesburg Water policies and procedures.

    • Facilitate the appointment process for consultants by: Monitoring the progress of the appointment letters, setting up standard appointment letters. Prepare the call for proposals (Technical and financial proposals) before inviting proposals and adjudicating the proposals for appointment. Bid Special meetings.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Receive, record and process work requests and project charters received from various departments as assigned by the senior administrator. Implement and manage a work request/project charter register. Record all processed work requests and track status on processing. Initiate Purchase requisitions for works requests for review and release by Senior Administrator, track and issue orders to requesting departments.
