    Heavy Duty Driver

    Job Description    
    The Chicken Business is currently recruiting for an Heavy Duty Driver to be based in Mpumalanga and report to the Hatchery Manager.The role will be responsible for taking full responsibility and accountability for the vehicle check sheets / Report faults and safe work procedures.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12
    • Valid code 10 (and code 14 EC Driver’s License will be advantageous and PrDP and valid passport (not expiring within 6 months)
    • 3 years’ experience in loading and delivery of products

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Timekeeping:

    • Vehicle Check Sheets / Report Faults:
    • Ensure that you complete the truck checklist before you leave the premises.
    • Ensure you report any faults found on the truck during the day to the Hatchery Manager.
    • Ensure you filled the vehicle with diesel before when needed before departing for deliveries or collections.
    • Vehicle to be always kept clean (in and outside) No eating drinking or smoking while driving.
    • No reckless driving at any time.
    • Subject to a Breathalyzer test at any time while on duty Vehicle never to be overloaded Off-loading and loading of stock, material, or equipment.

    Timekeeping:

    • Ensure you start duty at the right time as per the agreed contract
    • In the event of ill health, ensure you inform your supervisor well before the time with valid reason. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.

    Safe Work Procedures:

    • Protective clothing: Keep clean and in good repair.
    • DO NOT drive vehicles if it is unsafe to do so. Make sure you have your driving license with you; it is a criminal offence to drive without it.
    • Do not exceed speed limits, Hijack – Watch out for suspicious-looking people.
    • Do not give lifts, and do not stop for hitchhikers.
    • Do not leave the truck unattended and do not leave the key in the ignition while you offload.

    Relationships:

    • Ensure that you greet the customer in a friendly way.
    • Ensure that you handle the products with care.
    • Ensure you check the products in conjunction with the customer and delivery note.
    • Ensure that the customer follows the correct procedures with regard to receiving and that all documents are signed/stamped as per your POD manual.

    Dress Code:

    • Always wear the correct dress code.
    • Ensure your uniform is always clean and neat.

    General:

    • Assist in the same day / Saturday / Sunday or Public Holiday deliveries as and when the need arises. Carry out other instructions from your manager

    Effluent Plant Operator

    Job Description    
    The role willoperate the waste water treatment plant on a day to day basis, faultfinding, risk identification and first line maintenance. The role also entails monitoring gauges and valves, minor maintenance and collecting and evaluation various data.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric/Grade 12/Equivalent
    • 2 to 3 years of experience doing routine tasks, such as recording meter readings, taking samples of wastewater and sludge, and doing simple maintenance and repair work on plant equipment

    • Control equipment and monitor processes that remove or destroy harmful materials, chemicals, and microorganisms from wastewater.
    • Run tests to make sure that the processes are working correctly.
    • Keep records of water quality and other indicators.
    • Send clean effluent water back to the plant for processing purposes.
    • Keep effluent plant dam levels in acceptable levels.
    • Keep all chemical hoppers and tanks full at all times.
    • Clean the sludge press on regular intervals.
    • Check that sludge hopper does not block up.
    • Inspect equipment on a regular basis
    • Report all maintenance issues to engineering department.
    • Report water being out of specification.

    Quality Assurance Technologist

    Job Description    
    The successful incumbent will be responsible for operational management of quality control and quality assurance. This role will also include participation in internal/external audits and customer visits as and when required. Furthermore, it will include monitoring and investigating product complaints and returns. The Quality Assurance Technologist should also ensure adherence to contractual, regulatory, and internal specifications and requirements.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 + appropriate qualification (Food Tech Diploma, Bio Tech Diploma, Med Tech, etc.)

    Senior Process Leader - Rustenburg

    Job Description    
    An exciting opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Process Leader with RCL Foods. The role forms part of the Chicken Division and is based at our Chicken Processing Plant in Rustenburg. The purpose of the role is to supervise the performance of a Processing line in a specific area of the plant (including staff/process workers, machinery and material on that line) to achieve Daily targets to required product specifications, while meeting Safety, Health and Quality standards.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • National Diploma or Degree, preferably in Production Management or Operations Management
    • Min 2 years’ relevant experience, including supervision, in a unionized FMCG food manufacturing plant
    • Knowledge of HACCP, Quality Management Systems, GMP, OHSACT
    • Excellent computer literacy and skills required: MS Office.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Production Planning

    • Obtain and communicate daily production plan, ensure man load at full capacity, request additional resources if needed

    Operations Management

    • Follow assigned production plan, prioritize work to ensure deadlines are met and alert Processing Manager of deviations
    • Conduct required checks for start-up, during shift and sign off and ensure relevant data is recorded correctly
    • Do calculations to establish most effective use of resources allocated, i.e. cost, people, time, etc
    • Ensure smooth flow and movement of product through the plant to avoid contamination
    • Work with existing processes and procedures in such a way that operational efficiencies and performance are enhanced
    • Recommend new and different ways of doing things to improve yield and performance

    SHERQ

    • Ensure compliance to SOP’s
    • Understand and monitor safety, health and quality standards
    • Monitor hygiene on the line:
    • Ensure line meets all hygiene standards prior to start-up, take corrective action and inform Processing Manager of delays
    • Sign off on cleaning team to ensure cleanliness of work area
    • Check that shut down cleanout and housekeeping are done properly

    Monitor SHEQ compliance:

    • Ensure compliance to HACCP and ISO regulations
    • Implement and ensure compliance with national best operating practice

    Ensure quality standards are implemented correctly:

    • Report non-conformance
    • Follow clear procedures to find practical solutions to problems pertaining to quality
    • Liaise with Quality Controllers to monitor quality of product

    Cost Control

    • Monitor the line to ensure work is executed consistently according to SOP’s to minimize waste and reduce consumption where possible
    • Monitor the usage of material:
    • Draw correct quantity of packing material from stores to daily planned utilisation in production
    • Identify and report wastage of materials/product
    • Issue PPE and motivate additional PPE required
    • Report machinery and equipment not in good working order immediately
    • Alert Processing Manager when there are excess resources on the line to minimise cost

    Administration and reporting

    • Request for orders to be placed well in advance or potential shortages
    • Capture processing data accurately, completely and timeously into the information system daily
    • Perform required checks and record data accurately
    • Record daily utility meter readings (water/gas/electricity) and communicate to clerks
    • Record hourly targets for statistical purposes

    Team Supervision

    • Supervise people performance:
    • Ensure production targets are met
    • Manage non-performance
    • Initiate disciplinary hearings when needed
    • Monitor time and attendance, complete all timesheets daily and report on absenteeism
    • Coordinate leave requests and escalate for authorisation:
    • Complete leave and general time management documentation in line with company policy
    • Escalate leave request to Processing Manager for approval
    • Continually assess the technical competence of the team and ensure development of knowledge and skills
    • Develop supportive relationships with reports and encourage team spirit
    • Communicate actively and effectively resolving any potential conflicts
    • Provide on the job training to Process Leaders

    SIQALO Foods entrusts the R&D Product Development Manager to be responsible for Product Development across the continuum from medium to long term research on product design to the deployment in market; more specifically within Product Development, responsible for the key product capabilities namely regulatory, consumer technology insight and nutrition.

    Minimum Requirements

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Operations Management

    • Drives Micro Store productivity through agreed KPI’s and efficiencies.

    Management of Safety, Health Environment, Risk and Quality

    • Ensures that all legislative and industry standards are followed on a Shift and that all areas of non-conformance are reported.
    • Ensures adherence to ISO 9000/22 000/14 000/18000 standards within the Total Integrated Management System on a Shift.
    • Ensures ISO in-process quality control processes are followed.
    • Monitors and ensures that quality tests done and are within the specified limits and safe for animal consumption.

    Stock Control

    • Counts all micro ingredients on site on a daily basis.
    • Ensures that stock variances between actual and theoretical usage must not exceed 2%. Any variances are reported to the Raw Material Planner.
    • Ensures that locks on all units are locked at all times and the lock register is maintained.
    • Ensure that medication store is locked at all times. (Ensures that script store is locked when un-attended)
    • Documents all goods received in the GRN book.
    • Takes retention samples of all micro ingredients received and stores the samples in the archive. All samples must be correctly labelled and stored for a period of 3 months. Note the deviation of stock received and actual counts and report back to supplier.

    Provides Leadership

    • Leads Micro Store staff towards meeting targets – through regular communication and on-the-job training.
    • Conducts Indaba meetings and ensures that records are kept and shared across the team and that action plans agreed to within team meetings are delivered upon.
    • Manages employee relations climate and ensure corrective action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policy.
