    Underwriter: Short-Term Insurance

    Job Summary

    • This role involves underwriting and renewing short-term insurance policies, evaluating applications, and making informed decisions aligned with company strategy. The underwriter will support clients and brokers, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to continuous process improvements through data analysis.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Primary focus on Short-term policy underwriting/renewals
    • Evaluate insurance applications and renewals
    • Make informed underwriting decisions aligned with company strategy
    • Prepare and maintain policy documentation in line with legal standards
    • Support clients and brokers with underwriting queries, quotations, and renewals
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (FAIS, POPIA, etc.)
    • Analyse underwriting data and contribute to process improvements

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • 2–3 years underwriting experience in insurance
    • A relevant degree in Finance, Insurance or Business (advantageous)
    • RE5 certification
    • Proficient in MS Office suite
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
    • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
    • Customer-focused with solid problem-solving ability
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

    Diesel Mechanic

    Job Summary

    • This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining agricultural diesel equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting machinery, identifying faults, replacing or repairing components, performing electrical and mechanical tests, and completing all related documentation accurately.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Reassemble agricultural equipment following repair; test operation; and make adjustments as necessary
    • Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions
    • Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools
    • Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, machines, welding equipment, grinders, or saws
    • Inspect or test parts to determine nature or cause of defects or malfunctions
    • Recommend product or component design improvements based on data and observations
    • Maintain test equipment in operational condition by performing routine maintenance or making minor repairs or adjustments as needed
    • Complete all documentation including worksheets, certificates, receipts and applying signatures as appropriate on a daily basis
    • Inspect equipment for safety prior to use, and perform necessary basic maintenance tasks

    • Strong proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
    • Experience with Power BI and SAP will be advantageous
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Understanding of the industry and its financial dynamics
    • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
    • Valid driver’s license (Code 08)
    • Bilingual (English and Afrikaans) (advantageous)
    • Willing to travel
