The role in a nutshell:
- Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Agile principles, practices, and theory. (Not specific to Scrum, Luno practices agile but not SCRUM specifically.)
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of a ticketing tool such as JIRA a must (We use Phabricator which is similar)
- Be friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed
- A work permit for South Africa if you are not a South African citizen
- Basic knowledge of and passion for digital currencies like Bitcoin
Your mission will involve:
- Guiding 2-3 build team pods on how to use Agile practices and values to delight customers.
- Removing impediments or guiding the pods to remove impediments by finding the right solution.
- Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work, including inter-competency task coordination.
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.
- Ticket management (Phabricator) - Backlog grooming, managing standups etc.
- Release Train Coordination - release notes, alignment with the Engineering Manager around timelines.
- Ensuring at all times that initiatives and priorities align with the organisational objectives and key results (OKRs) in conjunction with the Engineering Manager

The role in a nutshell:
As an ambitious Technical Product Owner (Platform Front-End) who is passionate about building ecosystems and tooling that make frontend teams happy, you'll be an integral part of a growing organisation that seeks to provide world-class service to our business globally, and work with cross-functional teams to help design, build and roll-out products and features that deliver the company’s vision and strategy.
Your mission will involve:
- Help influence and maintain a frontend platform roadmap based on our architectural goals
- Work with internal product teams to design and implement tooling and systems to facilitate their work
- Work with the data and/or UX teams to research, prototype, test and validate ideas around our design system, tooling and frontend architecture
- Work with the engineering team to translate your platform roadmap into detailed requirements
- Continuously monitor the effectiveness of platform changes and recommend improvements
- Help facilitate increased productivity among our product teams by defining and optimising for key metrics
- Understand our product teams (your internal customers) through analysis, research and direct interaction
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis on design systems, tooling and frontend architecture
- Coordinate work between multiple teams across multiple countries
- Be available to the team to answer questions and provide clarity on decisions
- Having the right technical understanding to communicate with engineers
The ideal candidate will have the following essentials:
- At least 5 years experience as a frontend engineer
- At least 2 years as a product owner, with a balance between both roles
- Excellent prioritisation and time-management skills
- The drive to achieve solutions through cooperation and collaboration
- A positive and friendly disposition, with a ‘can do’ attitude, because you'll be dealing with many stakeholders throughout the product, engineering, design and data and translation teams
- An interest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (highly advantageous given the work we do)
