    Engineering Intern

    Responsibilities includes: 

    • Reverse engineering of vehicle CAN signals and developing CAN scripts to enable on-board computers to interpret signal data and derive valuable information 
    • Develop scripts to enable on-board computers to interface with off-the-shelf sensors 
    • Maintain and develop software tools including tools that interface with CAN loggers and automate the reverse engineering process where possible 
    • Participate in design and quality reviews 
    • Firmware development training: Learn to develop embedded C code that provides core functionality to the on-board computer 

    Requirements: 

    • B. Engineering degree (Electronic, Industrial, Computer science or other relevant) 
    • Masters’ degree would be a distinct advantage 
    • A good command of the English and or Afrikaans language 
    • MATLAB and labVIEW experience advantageous

    Prized competencies: 

    • Must pay attention to detail 
    • Have the ability to work well in a team or on your own 
    • Must have the ability to communicate ideas clearly

    Learner: Test Automation Developer

    About YOU:

    You are an ambitious graduate with a tertiary qualification in Computer Science/Software Engineering. You are fascinated by tech and you can't wait to join a team of professionals who are passionate about what they do. 

    You have:

    • Computer software proficient (not just Microsoft Office suite.)

    You will do:

    • Coding of new automated tests using Java and Selenium framework
    • Responsible for maintaining our Automated Shakedown test pack that runs after every production deployment.
    • Maintaining of the source code using source control.
    • Ensure that automated tests run correctly on mobile (Android) and web.
    • Reporting and escalation of possible performance issues found by the automated tests.

    Embedded Software / Firmware Engineer

    Responsibilities include:

    • Firmware development: Design, code and verify
    • Firmware maintenance: Investigate and fix reported bugs
    • Ownership of firmware features
    • Ownership of small projects and group investigations

    What you need to be successful:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering (or similar)
    • A good command of the English language
    • 3+ years of experience as embedded software/firmware engineer (or similar)
    • Embedded systems, microcontrollers & basic peripherals
    • Code planning/design
    • C/C++ coding
    • Coding standards
    • Testing & debugging
    • Source control (Git)

    Beneficial experience (not essential):

    • RTOS, Threading, Inter-thread communication & synchronization
    • Unit Testing
    • STM32 (ARM Cortex M) and PIC
    • C#, Python
    • Embedded Linux (Buildroot, Yocto)
    • MISRA/Lint
    • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, GPS, Cellular, LoRa, TCP/UDP, MQTT, AWS IoT
