    Document Controller - Midrand

    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that pre-established document control requirements (document lay out and numbering system, how many and which signatures are required for certain approvals, etc.) are satisfactorily met throughout the duration of the project
    • Set up filing structure, access rights & internal workflows on Electronic Document Management System when new project is registered.
    • Set up project specific document templates when new project is registered
    • Set up draft BIM Execution Plan for initial review by Design / BIM Manager on new projects
    • Expedite review, signature approval, and release of internally produced documents
    • Enter data, receive, track, and control documents using the Electronic Document Management System to register documents and maintain databases
    • Produce logs, transmittals, and other reports as required
    • Provide assistance to users in capturing and locating electronic information
    • Arrange hard copies filing and long-term storage or disposal documents at time of closeout.
    • Assist with general project specific administration tasks

    • BIM Manager / Coordinator
    • Performance Criteria:
    • Ability to follow systems, procedures and work flow processes and contribute to their improvement.

    Deadlines:

    • Completion of work according to schedule.
    • The timeliness of performing his activities as well as the activities of his subordinates.
    • Submission of all reports and deliverables by their due dates.
    • Any other deadlines as determined by the Sector Lead, Design Manager and BIM Manager / Coordinator

    Qualifications

    • Technical degree or equivalent experience, preferably with a bias toward Document Control
    • Technical project background and knowledge including familiarity with engineering documents such as reports, datasheets, lists and drawings.
    • BIM360 user experience
    • Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Minimum 5 years of experience with document control, preferably in large multi-disciplinary projects

    Senior Process/ Chemical Design Engineer - Midrand

    Job Description

    WSP has an exciting new opportunity for a Process / Chemical Design Engineer Engineer to join the Water Treatment Process Engineering Division within the Mine Engineering team on a full-time basis in Waterfall City, South Africa. This is a senior level position in the consulting team and the incumbent will be responsible for design, drawing and construction monitoring of water treatment related projects predominantly in the mining and industrial sectors.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Undertake the lead engineer role to execute engineering projects by delivering on technical studies through the application of process engineering and design principles. 
    • Support the group in executing water treatment projects including:
    • Site investigation participation
    • Active and passive water treatment technology applications
    • Closure water treatment costing development
    • Development of closure water treatment roadmaps
    • Water savings opportunity identification and development
    • Tender documentation development and adjudication assistance
    • Identification of key technical risks in process design, and proposal of solutions to mitigate or eliminate these risks.
    • Plan, organise and execute engineering design work in accordance with the required governance processes.
    • Provide supervision of construction and commissioning activities as required and as directed by the engineering lead.
    • Have the ability to manage multi-discipline interactions and network with licensors and vendors if and when required.
    • Prepare and/or provide input into cost estimates
    • Ensure all technical documentation, designs and drawings are reviewed, signed-off, properly documented and catalogued
    • Attend site and other meetings, to action deliverables timeously and effectively
    • Achieve financial productivity on all projects
    • Ensure effective systems are implemented for good record keeping – designs, files, reports, drawings, etc.
    • Network and liaise with other staff working on projects at all levels as well as colleagues from other business units
    • Provide technical analysis and monitoring expertise on issues to clients (external & internal) on projects within the water industry and liaising with WSP’s advanced testing laboratory.
    • Assist with contract administration including preparation of certificates and “as built” drawings, construction dates etc.
    • Ensure suitability of technical proposals. Preparing proposals and reports for clients and building business relationships with clients.
    • Compile letters, reports and prepare tender documentation for approval by the Project Leader
    • Compliance with WSP’s Quality Management System
    • The incumbent must be able to undertake and review associated works, designs and demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of contract and construction procedures. (The candidate must demonstrate highly specialised design)
    • The position is head office based, however the successful candidate must be prepared and free to travel extensively both within South Africa and within the African Continent to manage projects and engage in client and other meetings.
    • Providing safety leadership in health & safety (HSSE incident reporting).
    • Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior engineers.
    • Planning, developing schedules, coordinating and overseeing manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines.
    • Supervising, coordinating and reviewing/evaluating activities carried out by junior engineers.
    • Have the ability to thrive successfully in a diverse (culture, roles, positions and levels, etc.) work environment.
    • Foster teamwork and collaboration

    Qualifications

    • Relevant degree (BEng or BSc) in the Chemical Engineering
    • 10-15 years plus experience post graduation with developed specialist skills in the area of water treatment and process design.
    • Familiarity with water treatment technologies such as RO, UF etc is essential
    • Postgraduate degree (BEng or BSc) in Water Utilisation Engineering will be advantageous.
    • Professional registration at Engineering Council of South Africa.
    • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Projects etc.
    • Proficient in engineering software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Biowin, WAVE etc .
    • Proficiency in other engineering related software will be considered beneficial.
