    Transport Officer - Nahoon Dam

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Certificate in Fleet Control (short courses)

    Minimum Experience:

    • 3 years’ experience in Fleet

    Key Outputs:

    Reporting to the Fleet Specialist, the appointee will:

    • Responsible for a fleet of approximately 160 vehicles (LDV, Big Trucks, Bus, Pick-up trucks and cars).
    • Keep track of vehicles out for service, arrange for vehicles to be repaired and the ordinary maintenance of vehicles.
    • Draw fleet reports consisting of different permutations of data from an active tracking software system and handover to the requester.
    • Receive, scrutinise and monitor the Fuel Management report (fuel and oil usage), identify out of line situations and forward the information to relevant manager to investigate and handle (daily activity).
    • Plan and monitor the work of the drivers
    • Monitor attendance and approve absence (leave etc)
    • Organise and ensure efficient delivery and collection service
    • Plan the bus transportation of employees.
    • Co-ordinate driver collections and deliveries
    • Assist in arranging transport for other official Amatola Water activities
    • Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements

    Buyer

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • 1 year certificate in Supply Chain Management/Purchasing Management/Procurement Management or equivalent

    Preferred qualification:

    • National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Management, Public Procurement or equivalent

    Minimum Experience:

    • 3 years’ experience in Procurement and Sourcing of Goods and Services

    Key Outputs:

    Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the appointee will:

    • Provide guidance to end user requirements and specifications
    • Research relevant suppliers for the required resources
    • Facilitate purchase requests from End user departments and ensure compliance to SCM Policy
    • Upload advertisements on the website and request quotations
    • Evaluate quotations and award to suppliers according to set standards
    • Process and co-ordinate queries to ensure smooth functioning of the procurement process
    • Liaise with suppliers regarding short deliveries, queries on purchase order delivery and payment queries
    • Liaise with internal users regarding outstanding requisitions and purchase orders
    • Provide information to the Financial Department relating to invoices queries resulting from purchase order placed.

    Senior Water Control Officer

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Matric
    • N3 Plumbing

    Preferred Qualification:

    • National Diploma Civil Engineering

    Minimum Experience:

    • Five (5) years general maintenance and civil experience gained in a water environment

    Key Outputs:

    Reporting to the Technician: Dam Management, the appointee will:

    • Coordinate water control operations
    • Oversee the dams and canal systems to ensure appropriate maintenance
    • Provide input in the development of operating procedures
    • Investigate dropping water levels in dams and prepare and submit weekly reports on findings
    • Collaborate with the maintenance department to coordinate the planned maintenance for the dams
    • Guide maintenance team on the dam maintenance requirements
    • Perform minor maintenance repairs and work, e.g. small pipe leaks, minor painting, etc.
    • Supervise the cleaning of the dams e.g. galleries, outlet chambers
    • Conduct on the job training as and when needed
    • Monitor the performance of subordinates
    • Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/supervisor within the ambit of the position taking

    Plant Superintendent - Mthatha

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 (or NTC III) plus operator’s certificate or Grade 12 (or NTC III) in Water and Wastewater Treatment practice N3 (with 15 years’ experience)/or National Diploma or equivalent field (with 6 years’ experience) in water and/or wastewater treatment process/or Tech or 4 years BSc (both in appropriate field) (with 4 years’ experience)/or Professional Engineer (Act 81 of 1968) in appropriate field or Natural Scientist (Act of 55 of 1982) in appropriate field (with 3 years’ service)
    • In addition, the incumbent must be registered as a Class V process controller for both WTW & WWTW

    Added advantage:

    • Relevant qualification in ND Water Care/Chemical Engineering, and PrPC (Professional registered Process Controller)

    Minimum Experience:

    • 15 years for candidate that possess N3 Certificate
    • 06 years for candidate that possess National diploma/or
    • 04 years for candidate that possess BTech or BSC/or
    • 03 years for candidate that possess Professional Engineer/Natural Scientist

    Key Outputs:

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, the appointee will:

    • Implement business plans at one or multiple works in the region to provide a reliable water supply and/or effluent discharge.
    • Control business risk by ensuring that AW meet SANS 241 for WTW and General Authorization for WWTW.
    • Monitor continuous water demand.
    • Ensure that infrastructure, WTWs, WWTWs and equipment operate to specified standards to meet demands
    • Initiate and maintain communications with customers and stakeholders
    • Control statutory requirements to promote the health of consumers, customers and employees
    • Supervise the security of Assets and Works
    • Manage cost centre budgets
    • Manage and supervise staff to achieve maximum productivity
