    Commercial Underwriter

    Commercial Underwriter

    • The core function of this role is to analyse information, establish client’s risk, match risk with the most appropriate product, screen the applicant based on a set of underwriting criteria, evaluate the risk and do recommendations from an underwriting point of view to mitigate losses, determine appropriate premiums and ensure the risk falls within the treaty conditions

    Responsibilities

    • Risk selection: evaluate and asses risk. Determine premium, terms and conditions, excesses, and limitations.
    • Assist brokers and sales staff with all underwriting-related queries
    • Continuous improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement by fully engaging in daily brainstorm sessions, generating suggestions, following appropriate procedures and work principals.
    • Develop and maintain the relationship through responsive service
    • Communicating with brokers, telephonically or otherwise, to solve problem areas and promoting Dotsure
    • Assist with system testing for commercial system releases and submit reports on findings.
    • Portfolio management: Manage a book of business by analysing the portfolio, identifying areas of opportunity for improved growth.
    • Record keeping on insurance system is kept up to date.

    Legal Officer

    Description

    • The purpose of this role is to assist in investigations and implement investigative techniques to manage legal aspects on non-litigation matters where refutes are received on recovery side and to assist liabilities with technical refutes on high risk/quantum matters. 

    Requirements

    • LLB degree with at least post graduate work experience
    • In depth knowledge of merit adjudication on both Recovery and Liability merit matters;
    • In depth knowledge of re-occurring problematic scenarios that is deemed to be challenging above the parameters of what a Recovery or Liability TL can resolve themselves in terms of technicalities and argument and counter arguments.
    • Must be proficient with the key and IT applications relating to litigation 
    • Ability to audit attorney accounts and take responsibility for queries should excessive amounts be charged outside court rules/agreement with said external attorney
    • Ability to make informed decisions whether a matter if viable to pursue by means of summons or not
    • Ability to make informed decisions whether a matter is viable to be defended as liability
    • Ability to formulate escalations based on case law and legal argument if and when required

    Requirements and skills

    • 5+ years of experience in a similar role designing and launching digital platforms.
    • Proven leadership of successful digital transformation projects
    • Understanding of core business processes and their associated technical solutions
    • An innovative and disruptive mindset, constantly looking forward.
    • Experience in managing and leading a digital and innovation team.
    • Proven skills for influencing and collaborating with colleagues.

    • Articulating, queuing and prioritizing bug fixes and small developmental tasks.

    Consultant Resolutions

    • This position reports to the Senior Manager of the Legal Department and will be focused on resolution of internal disputes.
    • Send acknowledgement of receipt of complaints received via the internal resolutions e-mail address, as well as being escalated internally and allocated to the handler within 48 hours.
    • Caputure complaint in combined complaints register and update once finalised.
    • Caputure complaint on Iris and update once finalised.
    • Investigate clients’ complaints that are received.
    • Send updates to client on progress of response to complaint every 4 days.
    • Advise management of any possible overturns, which overturns will be discussed with the relevant departments, if valid.
    • Contact clients and draft a formal response to a client’s complaint after the conclusion of the investigation of the complaint.
    • Compile a detailed closure report once the complaint is finalised explaining whether the client’s complaint was valid or invalid.
    • Adhere to the turnaround time target of 7 days to finalise complaints received.
    • Only in valid cases and after discussing the complaint with management, inform client if turnaround time target will not be met.

    Requirements

    • Preferene will be given to someone who holds a LLB degree or someone who is in the process of completing a LLB degree.
    • Experience in the legal field will be advantageous.
    • Computer Literate.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
