BUSINESS UNIT: Secunda Synfuels Operations

Purpose of Job /Role Intent:

• To cost effectively ensure the availability of safe and reliable assets to production.
• Effective maintenance of the plant to ensure availability and reliability of the plant equipment and facilities. Maintenance responsibilities will be coordinated through preventative and corrective maintenance scheduling

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required

• B.Eng./B.Sc. Eng. /B.Sc. (Hons)/B.Sc./B. Tech (Eng.)
• Government Certificate of Competency (wish)
• Minimum of 5 years Maintenance Management Experience; 8 years total relevant Operations experience

BUSINESS UNIT: Secunda Synfuels Operations

LOCATION : Secunda

Purpose of Job /Role Intent:

General and pressure equipment boiler making maintenance and fabrication in the Retube workshop to enable production units to reach production targets.

Functional outputs:

• Inspection and general fault finding on trade related tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
• Maintenance and fabrication of mechanical and pressure equipment.
• Manipulate, develop and orientate plate, pipe and other forms of materials to fabricate mechanical and pressure equipment.
• Comply with safety standards and codes.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions and bring it to the attention of management.
• Provide on the job training and coaching to team members.

Qualifications required:

• Matric / Grade 12 with math and science or N3 with math, science and business english.
• Trade certificate (Formal apprentice ship).
• Trade test as boilermaker.
• Code 08 / EB driver’s license.

Job specific experience required:

• 5-6 years working experience as a qualified boilermaker after trade test.
• Petrochemical plant and equipment. (Wish)
• Pressure vessel fabrication will be an advantage. (Wish)
• Maintenance / refurbishing / fabrication of pressure equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret, compile a bill of material and fabricate from engineering drawings.
• Ability to optimize material usage.
• Working experience on heavy boiler making workshop tools and machinery.

General:

• Knowledge of types and grades of materials.
• First line inspection of own work before supervisor and QC inspections.
• Deliver high quality work and maintain high productivity.
• Attention to detail.
• Overhead crane license. (Wish)
• Basic rigging up to 5 ton. (Wish)
• Commitment and dedication to work.
• Willing to train and develop self and the team.
• Working on a two week shift roster.
• Willing to work overtime as and when required.
• Perform stand-by duties.
