    Test Engineer

    This role is one that demands a passion for continuous improvement of product, system and customer knowledge. Test Engineer should expect to manage their own project work items and work closely with the delivery teams to carry out thorough and efficient testing to team processes and testing standards. The Test Engineer will create accurate test plans, and execute against these, ensuring that all issues and risks are raised and managed to completion. The Test Engineer will have an eye for detail and be quality focussed resulting in thorough and well-organised test phases across all projects they work on.

    Key accountabilities and decision ownership: 

    • Demonstrate a level of understanding of the system under test and gain an understanding of how customers use the products under test.
    • Create and track to accurate and timely test estimates for projects
    • Collaborate with the delivery team to create source documents used for testing artefacts and create and maintain test artefacts that maximise the efficiency of the test phase, cover all requirements and allow for timely delivery of products and/or components to our customers
    • Execute different testing approaches within each defined stage of development and keep up to date with advances in the discipline, e.g. rapid, risk based, exploratory, regression, security, usability etc.
    • Have an awareness of the test automation framework and as a result create, execute and maintain efficient and effective test automation scripts
    • Take accountability for all test related activities within a test phase, accurately record and communicate risks and issues found during test phases and produce effective test metrics for the Test Team Lead
    • Share knowledge and expertise across the wider testing team and where required coach others to avoid key person dependencyCarry out such tasks as directed to meet the needs of the business

    Skills, know-how and experience:

    Must have:

    • At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on software product functional testing
    • Experience testing web applications (Intermediate level)
    • Natural high level of attention to detail in all aspects of working
    • Able to prioritise and plan own time to ensure deadlines are met
    • Good problem-solving  and troubleshooting approach; always able to provide logical solutions and options
    • Clear verbal and written communication style to enable conversations with all levels of stakeholder including direct customers and to ensure accurate issue recording
    • Must be able to assess tasks for the best testing approach and apply these throughout the different phases of a project.
    • A rapid ‘pick up and learn approach’ that will ensure valuable contribution to any team within days of joining the team
    • Experience with Agile methodologies

    Preferred:

    Experience with performance and/or security testing

    • Good domain, component or product knowledge in either finance, payroll or HR fields
    • Proven experience in testing including experience in designing and implementing test artefacts and awareness of relevant automation tools
    • Knowledge of relational databases is very desirable

    Technical / professional qualifications:

    • ISTQB Foundation or equivalent is essential
    • Ability to write sql queries is desirable

    Senior Test Engineer

    This role by not only delivering thorough and efficient testing but in leadership activities such as influencing, mentoring, coaching and leading test teams for short periods of time. A Senior Test Engineer is expected to be an expert in their domain, reviews the work of others and conducts proof of concept projects on new testing approaches and tooling. In short, Senior Test Engineers must help to drive change and the direction of testing in their function; bringing team members (not just testers) along with them.  

    Key accountabilities and decision ownership: 

    • Demonstrate an in-depth level of understanding of the system under test to enable risk assessment/mitigation and detailed estimation, creation and execution of test artefacts
    • Plan and execute specific testing approaches within defined stage of development e.g. rapid, risk based, exploratory, regression, security, usability etc.
    • Demonstrate continuous improvement in product, system knowledge and monitor technology trends to further increase the effectiveness of the testing function and evolve Sage's testing standards and practices
    • Review and maintain existing automation suites to ensure they are optimised, maintainable and as efficient as possible.
    • Demonstrate leadership skills including, producing effective test metrics, coaching, mentoring, influencing testing strategy, leading a team or POC project for short periods of time and providing recommendations
    • Take responsibility for the full end to end testing phase, working with your own team and coordinating cross divisional test activities where necessary
    • Demonstrate knowledge sharing activities across teams, disciplines, functions and locations
    • Define Test Automation Approach, identify right tools and drive Automation coverage within the sprints

    Skills, know-how and experience:

    Must have:

    • At least 5 years of hands-on software product functional testing
    • Experience testing web applications (Expert level)
    • Experience with API testing (Intermediate level)
    • An instinctive attention to detail in all aspects of working and an ability to review the work of others and provide rich data feedback
    • Good problem solving and troubleshooting approach; always able to provide logical solutions and options
    • Clear verbal and written communication style to enable conversations with all levels of stakeholder including direct customers and to ensure accurate issue recording
    • Must be able to assess tasks for the best testing approach and apply these throughout the different phases of a project.
    • A keen consistent interest and understanding of testing standards and trends outside Sage and the ability to engage, influence and derive action from this
    • Experience with agile methodologies

    Preferred:

    • Experience with performance and/or security testing
    • Experience with automation tools such as Selenium
    • Good domain, component or product knowledge in either finance, payroll or HR fields
    • Proven experience in testing including experience in designing and implementing test artefacts and experience of relevant automation tools

    Technical / professional qualifications:

    • ISTQB Foundation or equivalent
    • ISTQB Advanced or equivalent desirable
    • Understanding of relational databases is required, including writing of advanced queries
    • Relevant experience in a software development lifecycle, specifically methodologies associated with the agile approach to software developmen

    Outsourcing Sales Account Manager (Professional Services Consultant)

    Job Description 

    Responsible for generating revenue through direct sales, of Sage Outsourcing, via outbound calls to prospective marketing leads. Maintains an active pipeline, calls on prospects and works with the prospective customer through the entire sales cycle. Manage the sales relationship with new and existing customers by proactively contacting & meeting with customers to maintain a consistent high level of service delivery, whilst identifying further new business opportunities. Proactively contribute to the weekly planning process, providing market, competitive and customer data and insights. Works to coordinate internal resources as necessary to help close opportunities. Conversations are typically insightful, open ended and address the general business needs of the customer and how they can benefit from the use of Sage Outsourcing. Job has basic understanding of both Sage and the competitive landscape.

    Key Responsibilities Key Accountabilities

    • New Sales (Generate and respond to sales leads; completing a first response and converting them into sales; Be active on social media for Sage – LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.;
    • Assist with customer briefings & sales readiness around the relevant products; Calling clients / on-site visits to provide the necessary information to the customer regarding our service scope/contract;
    • Follow up calls; Providing accurate information to the Due Diligence team to perform due diligence and credit checks; Providing quotes and engagement agreements;
    • Corresponding with legal in terms of changes to client contracts;
    • Develop understanding of customers' diverse and specific business needs;
    • Apply product knowledge to meet those needs; Be the expert in understanding technical / functional capabilities of Sage products;
    • Eliminate existing or outstanding sales issues by troubleshooting and problem solving;

    • Meet Outsourcing sales targets and Outsourcing sales performance KPI’s as prescribed by Outsourcing.
    • Existing customers (Regularly liaising with existing clients to identify new business opportunities;
    • Progressively manage an opportunity pipeline, closing all possible opportunities;
    • Upkeep of electronic records using marketing, sales and training based technologies (CRM);
    • High level project management of all new contracts and services to the prescribed clients; - Daily liaison with other members of the team to provide information and ensure that Customers receive excellent customer service and suppliers provide consistent services;
    • Advising on changes and trends in the marketplace and the activities of competitors
    • Marketing (Support vertical and horizontal marketing initiatives;
    • Examine the needs of the primary regions through market studies, internet, magazine articles, customer interaction and other external sources;
    • Representation at events and select sales and partner situations such as road shows, trade fares, end user events, and sales calls etc.
    • Generate effective market introduction for new products and cross selling to existing customers;
    • Follow marketing drives and promote them to end users via emails, telephone follow ups or direct meetings)

    Technical / Professional Qualifications

    • B. Com Degree or similar work experience
    • Certification as a VIP Premier and/or Sage 300 People Support Consultant or VIP Premier and/or Sage 300 People Consulting, or similar work experience
