    • Overall business centre management: Ensure the Centre's is aligned to the overall ABB (Absa Business Bank) strategy by continuously reviewing, and modifying where necessary and ensuring consistent communication to managers (direct reports) and staff. Constantly follow up in relation to the formulation, implementation and management of 90 day plans designed to embed the strategy.
    • Take full accountability of the Business Centre's budgets set for the financial year and the achievement of the budget by formulating action plans which provide clear direction to management and staff and ensuring achievement of 2 plans
    • Take full accountability for the Balance Sheet and Income Statement of the Centre with regular monitoring of progress and instituting corrective action through line managers, where required
    • Take full responsibility to ensure that all requirements with regard to compliance , regulatory or other risk standards are adhered to by all management and staff within the business Centre, by conducting regular operational meetings, clearly minute actions and follow up of all outstanding issues
    • Be responsible for the business centre management team by having skilled and positive teams in place to drive the implementation of strategy and delivery on budgets and targets.
    • Manage and monitor, through functional heads,( i.e. Compliance, Operations, Sales) that appropriate and client centric solutions are developed by the professional teams and that all credit application packs prepared by the Business Centre to meet the stipulated requirements
    • Ensure, through direct reports, appropriate action is taken on all client complaints, leading to the appropriate resolution thereof and improved client satisfaction levels.
    • Monitor, through client feedback, the defection of clients and ensure that line management initiate and monitor appropriate client retention and retrieval strategies.
    • Monitor and maintain, through functional heads, all service level agreements with the relevant stakeholder( credit ,HR, Compliance) | Customer / Marketing Focus: Manage, through functional heads, that only quality and profitable business is generated, in line with credit and risk guidelines manage the effective marketing of the Business Centre within the region by sales and marketing staff. Drive the maintenance of high levels of customer interaction with existing and potential customers and other role players within the market (Chambers of Commerce, Business Forums etc)
    • Initiate appropriate events which facilitate meaningful client interaction and networking which will lead to improved market penetration and maintenance of the ABSA brand
    • Ensure, through sales management and staff, the retention of top clients through the provision of appropriate customer solutions within risk and pricing parameters, that satisfy both the customers and the bank's needs
    • Create an environment which ensures effective collaboration between product partners, risk and front end staff which produces customised client solutions
    • Take responsibility for creating opportunities where senior ABSA Executives are able to meet with top end customers on a regular basis with the aim of creating and maintaining solid client relationships | Financial Focus: Formulate and implement appropriate business plans that support the strategic agenda of ABB and the group and ensure that these are implemented and monitored by all line managers

    • Coach the Business Unit Management team on how to conduct meaningful Performance Development discussions with their direct reports and ensure that they conduct the process effectively.
    • Determine training and development needs for managers and ensure they do the same for their teams. Ensure that identified training is budgeted for and executed.
    • Establish and maintain a succession plan for the management team in the area using the formal Talent Management process for identified talent.
    • With the support from the HR Business Partner, interview and recruit direct reports and provide support to them during the recruitment of their teams on request.
    • Ensure that managers create effective workforce plans and recruitment demand plans for their areas.
    • Review requests from managers in the team for headcount changes. Recommend approval of or decline the request to the Head of Large Business Segments
    • Approve leave requests for direct reports and ensure that they manage the leave planning for their teams effectively.
    • Act as second level escalation point for all grievances raised in the business unit.
    • Ensure that all poor performance is addressed through the Absa Performance Accelerator (APA) Programme and that continued poor performance is adequately dealt with. Review APA reports to determine effectiveness of interventions. | : | : | : | :

    Manager Pricing and Profitability (VAF) – JHB

    • To  plan, manage and monitor the implementation of pricing activities and processes in order to deliver on approved operational plans in an effective and efficient manner.

    Job Description

    • The purpose of the role is to develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of the Pricing strategy for Vehicle Asset Finance (VAF) Credit Risk. This includes usage of the Profitability Model to monitor expected profitability of new business, estimate total book profitability (including fair value assessments), facilitate changes to the pricing strategy and challenge and enhance the pricing control environment.

    • Maintain and enhance the Profitability Models used for VAF portfolios. This is to ensure all relevant financial, funding and risk inputs are updated on an on-going basis, and ensuring the model adheres to the relevant group model risk policy requirements.

    Accountability: Monitor and Report on Estimated Profitability 

    • Monitor and report new business expected profitability, considering pricing, risk profile, cost structure and funding costs.

    • Based on above, challenge pricing strategy where appropriate and initiate changes to address concerns.
