    Business Development Manager Land - Kempton Park

    Introduction

    The Business Development Executive is responsible for the business growth by building and acquiring new customers for the Land product in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

    Responsibilities

    • Business Development: Identify and prospect for potential clients in South Africa for Land. This involves conducting market research, attending industry events, leveraging personal networks, and using various sales techniques to generate leads and new business opportunities.
    • Pipeline Management:  Proactively build a robust sales pipeline by identifying and engaging potential clients within Johannesburg.
    • Sales Presentations and Proposals: Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and quotations to prospective clients, showcasing DB Schenker's services, capabilities, and value proposition. Tailor presentations to address specific client needs and highlight competitive advantages. Negotiate pricing and contractual terms to secure new business.
    • New Business Implementation:  Document SOP between customers and DB Schenker to effectively implement new business secured across DB Schenker services.
    • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with internal teams, such as operations, pricing, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of services and meet client expectations. Collaborate with the operations team to develop tailored logistics solutions for clients and provide accurate information on shipment status, timelines, and delivery updates.
    • Market Analysis and Reporting: Stay updated on market trends, competitors, and industry developments, providing insights and recommendations to the management team. Generate regular reports on sales activities, pipeline, and revenue forecasts, ensuring accurate tracking of sales performance.
    • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Utilize CRM systems to manage and track sales activities, maintain client profiles, document interactions, and generate reports. Ensure timely and accurate data entry to facilitate effective sales management and reporting.
    • Sales Targets and Performance: Meet and exceed sales targets and objectives set by the company. Regularly review sales performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to achieve sales growth and profitability.
    • Continuous Learning and Skill Development: Stay updated on industry best practices, logistics trends, and DB Schenker's service offerings. Participate in training programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance sales skills and knowledge.

    Qualifications

    • Matric certificate essential.
    • Min 3 years sales experience in Land.
    • Proven sales track record of successful business development with multinational logistics company.
    • Relevant Bachelor and/ or Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.

    Entry Clerk - Kempton Park

    Responsibilities

    • Accurately tariff products.
    • Frame and prepare Bills of Entry for SARS on all modes of transport, imports and exports.
    • Follow up on Ship- Shape regarding SARS release of shipments.
    • Maintain a product library per client’s portfolio of products. Implement and improve on quality systems applicable to framing of bills of entry.
    • Follow up on all relevant SARS stop notes until finalized.
    • Prepare Voucher of Corrections as and when needed.
    • Assist clients with all customs related issues.
    • Provide support to channel controllers.
    • Develop and Maintain a good working relationship with SARS.
    • Assist other departments with customs related matters as and when required.

    Qualifications

    • Relevant 5 yrs experience in framing bills of entries (all modes), with level I & II SA Customs Clearance qualification.
    • Grade 12 Certificate.
    • Must have knowledge of the New Customs Contorol Act and Customs Duty Act, including the rules to frame a bill of entry and use of the Customs expalantory notes.
    • Must be computer literate and experience on Ship-Shape System and excel uploads.
    • Willing to work after hours/weekends/ and on public holiday when required.

    Site Manager Contract Logistics

    Responsibilities

    • Experienced in Management of multi-customer warehouses, distribution and site delivery operations to contractual performance levels, to budget and to ISO/OHSA requirements.
    • Managing client relationships, which possibly includes constructing and hosting regular performance reviews and occasional out of hour’s entertainment as and when required.
    • Managing relationship with other Schenker divisions, including but not limited to Business Development peers in support of Operational execution for new business.
    • Any other duties required to ensure that the Schenker brand remains perceived by the market as being superior.
    • Hands-on enablement of logistics implementation projects and logistics development activities.
    • It is expected that this position will generate innovative new solutions and cost-effective ways of doing things as a matter of course.
    • Strong focus on achievement of set customer KPI’s and company financial as well as other logistics targets
    • Pro-active and assertive approach to logistics operations with emphasis on process improvements as well as bottom line optimisation.
    • Appropriate communication skills to successfully deal with many different internal as well as external parties at all levels.
    • Good quantitative as well as IT exposure to operational issues, including high proficiency in WMS {SAP preferrable] applications and ability to translate the WMS functionality into operational requirements.
    • Preferably warehouse / operations management exposure (Contract Logistics) at managerial level.
    • Strong operational analysis skills and reporting ability to ensure continuous management of both external and internal KPI’s (e.g. Labour productivity and cost, MHE utilization, warehouse utilization etc.).
    • Financial logistics management exposure – P&L and Customer Profitability reporting and control. Including cost and revenue management principles as the P&L Owner.
    • Performance management of medium to large operational headcount of which includes both Blue- and White-collar staff, including disciplinary management experience.
    • Overall management of the logistics site and facility, including management of external stakeholders (i.e. suppliers / partners and other stakeholders) supporting the site operations.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years recent experience in a senior logistics position.
    • Possession of a recognised business management qualification would be an advantage.
    • Needs to be experienced in warehousing especially on a senior level.
    • A self-starter that can work largely independently.
    • Proven experience in Contract Logistics operational execution.
    • A pragmatic “can do” attitude to overcoming problems.
    • A deep understanding of warehouse and distribution management systems.
    • Evidence of operations excellence skills and LEAN management principles.
    • Innovative ideas on staff motivation and retention, including performance management principles.
    • Superior client management skills across multiple customers.
