    Assistant Accountant (12 Month FTC)

    • As an Assistant Accountant you’ll be supporting the delivery of and be responsible for assisting with the following areas, creditors functions, including accruals, performing monthly reconciliations with variance commentary and other ad hoc duties within the Finance team.  This will help us excel at providing accurate and useful financial information to stay ahead of the game.
    • What you’ll be doing
    • As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

    Creditors Function

    • Accurately capture all invoices, ensuring correct postings by product, region, platform, and brand, in line with agreements or prior billing.
    • Perform vendor reconciliations and resolve any outstanding queries.
    • Prepare bi-weekly payment runs, ensuring accurate amounts and correct suppliers are paid.
    • Match vendor invoices to payments in Navision/Business Cloud (BC).
    • Set up new vendors and obtain verification of bank details for any changes or new vendors.
    • Run vendor open items reports, providing commentary on any long-outstanding items.

    Finance Reporting

    • Prepare income statement and balance sheet reconciliations, including relevant commentary for areas of responsibility (e.g., open items, operating expenses, prepayments, marketing).
    • Corporate Governance 
    • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual audit files, ensuring provision of audit evidence.
    • Collaborate with the internal audit team to ensure that all queries are effectively addressed.
    • SOX Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to all internal controls and maintain proper documentation for SOX compliance.

    Financial Staffing

    • Collaborate effectively with relevant team members.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, both internally and externally, ensuring expectations are met and potential issues are escalated promptly.
    • Ad Hoc Duties:
    • Draft process documentation outlining monthly task procedures to ensure business continuity.
    • Archive all financial information as required.
    • Assist with testing processes before their implementation in Navision or BC.
    • Perform any other ad hoc duties as required.

    Verification Specialist

    • The Verification Team forms an integral part of the Risk & Fraud Department. Its core responsibility is to ensure compliance with verification standards, specifically Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements.

    What you’ll be doing

    • As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:
    • Full and accurate assessment of documentation in terms of their legitimacy:
    • To ensure Betway meets the verification requirements of their customers in line with regulatory and/or business requirements around KYC.
    • In line with AML verification requirements outlined by regulatory and / business requirements, i.e., Threshold and name mismatch financial account holder.
    • Ensure that documents are uploaded correctly, and notes are captured on accounts after review.
    • Escalation of documents with legitimacy concerns to the Fraud Team for further investigation.
    • Staying abreast of document version updates specific to countries.
    • Withhold / Release of certain transactions when required to do so.
    • Request of supporting documentation where deemed required. 
    • Update customers’ accounts details where necessary.
    • Contacting 3rd parties to verify documents in the cases where additional verification is required.
    • Be available to assist Risk, Fraud, CSC, and other departments in the business in relation to verification.
    • Resolve escalations related to verification.
    • Suggest / Recommend new improvements or enhancements to document journeys, customer communication relating to verification and highlighting any potential roadblocks that hinder verification success rates.
    • Reporting on verification statistics both internally and externally.
    • Suggest / Recommend new or improvement process or systems to enhance efficiency of verification.

    Tax Compliance Specialist

    • As a Tax Compliance Specialist you’ll be supporting the delivery of ensuring that the company meets its tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions. This includes the preparation of tax returns or the review thereof, assisting with tax audits, and ensuring compliance with changing tax laws and regulations.

    What you’ll be doing

    • As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

    Tax Compliance and Calculations

    • Assist in quarterly calculation of direct taxes and monthly reviewing direct taxes thereof.
    • Work closely with the finance team to ensure that all applicable taxes, including corporate income taxes, are accurately calculated and reported.
    • Support the calculation and review of indirect taxes related to the gaming and operational activities of the company. This includes taxes such as gaming tax, VAT (Value Added Tax), withholding tax (WHT), local VAT, reverse VAT, excise tax, and levies.
    • Ensure that all indirect tax calculations are accurate and compliant with local laws and regulations.

    Filing of Operational Tax Returns

    • Submit and file periodic operational tax returns for all relevant entities.
    • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations for each jurisdiction and ensure submissions are done on a weekly and/or monthly basis.

    Compliance Tax Calendar

    • Manage and update the compliance tax calendar for all periodic tax filings.
    • Ensure that all deadlines for tax returns and payments are met in a timely manner.

    Tax Provisions and Effective Tax Rate Calculations

    • Assist in calculating the group’s tax provisions, including the effective tax rate, corporate income tax, and deferred tax.
    • Ensure that all calculations are done accurately for financial reporting and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

    Financial Reporting

    • In collaboration with the finance team, support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure that all tax-related elements of these reports are accurate and compliant with the relevant regulations for all group entities.

    Tax Legislation Anomalies

    • Monitor changes in tax legislation and investigate any anomalies that may arise.
    • Stay up to date with relevant tax laws, regulations, and potential changes in the tax landscape that could affect the business.

    Tax Audits

    • Provide ongoing support to internal and external tax audits.
    • Be the liaison with tax auditors, gathering and providing the necessary information, and assisting with any questions or issues that arise during the audit process.

    Group Tax Matrixes

    • Review and assist in the updating of the group’s tax matrixes.
    • Ensure that the information in the tax matrix reflects accurately on the company’s tax position.
    • Communicate any updates where necessary to relevant teams within the organisation.

    Ad-Hoc Tax Assistance

    • Provide support for various tax-related projects and administrative matters as needed. This may include research, gathering information, or providing insights on different tax issues that arise.

    • Qualification Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Tax)
    • Articles, CA (SA), CIMA or equivalent
    • 5-8 Years tax compliance, tax accounting and tax reporting experience
    • Working knowledge of IFRS
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively
    • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals
    • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope
    • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations
    • International tax and experience in or across complex, growth organisations across multiple jurisdictions
    • Solid Experience in Microsoft suite including Excel and MS Word
