    Project Managers: Trade Remedies I & Trade Remedies II (Ref: No: ITAC 9/2024)

    Requirements: 

    • A degree in Economics, Business Economics or Accounting.
    • Three years’ experience as an Investigator, Economic/Financial Analyst or Auditor.
    • An understanding of trade remedies instruments and their role in economic development.
    • An understanding of the role of the multilateral trading system. Leadership qualities and ability to work independently and in a team.
    • An ability to communicate effectively. Professional conduct and ability to deal with people from diverse backgrounds 

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Accountable to the Senior Manager, the Project Manager will:

    • Conduct and manage investigations relating to Trade Remedies.
    • Manage investigation teams assigned to specific investigations.
    • Research and analyse information and present findings as may be required.
    • Give input in preparation of position papers on topics emanating from trade remedies investigations.
    • Liaise with various stakeholders in different levels in carrying out various duties and be prepared to represent the institution in various forums from time to time.

    Manager : Import & Export Control (Ref: No: ITAC 10 /2024)

    Requirements:

    •  A degree or equivalent qualification in Economics, Law or Public Administration.
    • At least three years’ experience within the Import/Export Control or related environment.
    • Computer literacy, conceptual and strategic focus information seeking, result focus and professionalism.
    • Concern for quality and order. Communication, planning and organising skills. Leadership qualities. 

     Key Responsibilities: 

    • The successful candidate will be required to assist in the administration of the relevant provisions of the International Trade Administration Act.
    • This will include, but not limited to, the adjudication of permit applications; correspond with clients and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing. Draft submission for consideration by the Commission and Minister.
    • Brief Commissioners on matters related to Import and Export control.
    • Innovative participation in forums where import and export related matters are discussed and solutions to challenges considered.
    • Research and liaise with industry sectors with regard to the local availability of goods and equipment.
    • Participate in legal matters relating to import and export control and participate when required in activities pertaining to enforcement of the Act with regard to compliance checking.
    • Monitor electronic systems. Management of staff.

    Senior Investigator : Tariff Investigations II (Ref: No: ITAC 11/2024)

    Requirements: 

    • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification (NQF level 7) in Economics, Business Management and/or Financial Accounting.
    • At least one year experience in research, statistical analysis, financial and economic analysis and/or should demonstrate necessary relevant competencies developed through working experience.
    • Exposure to compliance/enforcement environment.
    • A solid understanding of the role of ITAC.
    • Good understanding of the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP), South African Automotive Masterplan (SAAM) 2035 and the Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP).
    • Proven experience in policy analysis, research, project management, problem-solving, report writing and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work independently, in a team and under pressure.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, conduct him/herself professionally and deal with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • The candidate is required to have a valid driver’s license. 

    Key Responsibilities: 

    The successful applicant will be required to:

    • Process applications for production rebate certificates in accordance with APDP legislative framework and conduct investigations on tariff amendments.
    • Assist the Commission in its considerations and decision-making regarding tariff investigations through research, statistical analysis, written submissions and presentations.
    • Ensure compliance with the Industrial policy, Masterplans, World Trade Organization (WTO) framework and relevant ITAC policies and procedures.
    • Interpret policy and Commission’s decisions to stakeholders through effective communication.
    • Conduct research on developments in the domestic automotive industry and policy implications.
    • Represent ITAC at various forums and interact with the relevant stakeholders.
    • Maintain the relevant database and file system according to the ITAC filing plan.
    • Handle correspondence with various stakeholders.
    • Compile the relevant statistical information for compilation of unit’s reports.
