    Clincal Research Worker

    About Role

    • The Clinical Research Worker will be responsible for clinical trial-related procedures which will include recruitment, retention, education, counselling and consenting at the research site (Khayelitsha Site B or other sites as the need arises) and theperformance of clinical, administrative duties and other tasks in the clinical studies according to sponsor and lead investigator requirements.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or Equivalent
    • Counselling qualification or counselling experience
    • GCP qualification
    • 5+ years of clinical research workers experience inclusive of clinical trials experience
    • Experience with electronic consents and regular interfacing with e-data bases
    • Ability to engage with the community and present education sessions
    • Conduct informed consent
    • Basic computer literacy
    • Interpersonal skills

    Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

    • Conducting Informed consent Process
    • HIV/TB treatment adherence and TB Counselling
    • Active participation in patient information sessions
    • Telephone contact and tracing
    • Lead and conduct the consenting process, including literacy and understanding assessments, use of the specified
    • electronic consenting system, and provision of HI consenting and counselling
    • Conduct daily research information sessions in waiting areas and community hotspots, and engage in community
    • outreach through liaison with the local advisory group, health promotion sessions, and participation in community event
    • Provide counselling and testing referrals as needed, along with home visits, participant tracing, and remote follow-ups
    • via telephone in line with study protocols
    • Retrieve and prepare clinic folders, file laboratory reports, and ensure readiness for daily study activities
    • Respond to data queries, assist with data entry and reception duties, and update the data capture system
    • Prepare study folders in advance to support smooth daily operations
    • Collect all biological samples in accordance with study protocols and coordinate collection logistics with the research
    • team
    • Perform sputum induction and other related sample collection procedures, ensuring accurate capture of all collection

    • Position will be based in Mowbray
    • 6 to 12-month Fixed Term Contract
    • Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

    Director : Research Unit

    The University of Cape Town (UCT) invites applications for the full-time position (4-year contract) of ResearchDirector within the Department of Family, Community, and Emergency Care (FaCE). This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced academic leader to establish and develop the FaCE Research Unit, including the codevelopment of a socially engaged research agenda.

    The Department of FaCE is a newly established department comprising the clinical specialist divisions of Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care, Sports and Exercise Medicine, and a Primary Health Care team. The position provides strategic research leadership in FaCE. In establishing the FaCE Research Unit, the director will oversee the development of the unit's strategic and research direction, manage staff, budget, and operations,secure research funding, and assist other researchers with grant applications. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders and disseminating findings to academic and community audiences to promote impactful, evidencebased solutions that are contextually responsive and socially accountable.

    HR Officer

    The HR Officer will be Involved in a wide range of activities within the HR Department, including payroll, recruitment and daily administrative assistance on all HR and business-related matters.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 / Equivalent
    • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Human Resources Management
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within an HR Generalist role
    • 1 – 2 years’ experience processing payroll on Sage300 People Payroll system
    • Familiar with South African Labour Laws
    • High proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database management)

    • Complete WCA Forms and UIF documentation, as required
    • Assist in managing recruitment process from start to end using online recruitment system - screen CV’s, schedule and
    • conduct on-site/virtual interviews, assessments and conduct security, credit and reference checks
    • Draft offer letters and employment contracts, as well as regret emails
    • Ensure all new employees are taken through an onboarding programme and fully inducted
    • Act as advisor to management and staff on employee relations matters
    • Investigate disciplinary matters and coordinate disciplinary hearings
    • Assist in maintaining, updating and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, in line with labour laws
    • Assist with performance management processes
    • Assist with skills development initiatives and maintaining record of staff training
    • Maintain and update electronic staff files for employees - ensuring all documents are received and kept up-to-date
    • Provide logistical arrangements and attend quarterly Health and Safety and Employment Equity Meetings
