    Technical Trainer: Packaging

    Key Areas of Impact:

    Technical training and capability development

    • Identify technical and operational training needs through gap analysis, assessments, audits, and operational requirements.
    • Develop and implement training plans aligned to site and business objectives.
    • Facilitate technical training, coaching, assessments, and competency evaluations.
    • Coordinate classroom and OEM technical training where required.
    • Develop and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, training materials, and assessment tools.
    • Monitor training effectiveness and competency progression through Skills Matrices and assessment records.
    • Support Team Leaders and Line Managers with coaching and skills development.
    • Ensure compliance with SETA, occupational training, and internal company standards.
    • Improve technical competency, operational efficiency, equipment reliability, productivity, and safe work practices.
    • Enable a competent, assessed, and compliance-ready workforce aligned to business and company requirements. 

    Skills matrix and competency management

    • Develop, maintain, and update operational and engineering Skills Matrices.
    • Map packaging equipment competencies to operational requirements.
    • Assess employees against required technical and operational competencies.
    • Maintain accurate training, assessment, and competency records.
    • Coordinate Planned Job Observations and competency verification.
    • Ensure Operators, Artisans, and Technical Teams meet required competence standards.
    • Clear visibility of skills gaps and development priorities.
    • Improved alignment between employee competencies, equipment requirements, and operational needs.
    • Enable a verified, competent, and audit-ready workforce. 

    Packaging engineering and maintenance support

    • Support packaging maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime, efficiency, and reliability.
    • Assist with breakdown analysis and root cause investigations.
    • Recommend corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve asset performance.
    • Promote problem-solving and continuous improvement.
    • Support maintenance strategies, asset care, condition monitoring, and preventative maintenance initiatives.
    • Assist with critical spares and maintenance standards.
    • Monitor artisan tasks and maintenance execution through CMMS/Asset Care systems.
    • Provide technical input into engineering standards and maintenance procedures.
    • Improved equipment reliability, maintenance execution, standardisation, and operational efficiency.
    • A continuous improvement culture focused on asset performance and sustainability.

    Project and OEM support

    • Support equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities.
    • Assist with maintenance and engineering improvement projects.
    • Coordinate OEM, contractor, supplier, and training-provider relationships.
    • Participate in equipment procurement and ensure alignment with engineering standards.
    • Support project planning, execution, commissioning, and handover.
    • Contribute to technical documentation and capital expenditure motivation reports.
    • Successful delivery of equipment and capital projects within agreed timelines and standards.
    • Improve equipment capability and operational performance through engineering improvements. 

    Continuous improvement

    • Identify opportunities to improve technical capability, maintenance execution, operational efficiency, and training effectiveness.
    • Drive continuous improvement across packaging operations and engineering practices.
    • Review and improve training systems, maintenance practices, SOPs, and assessment methodologies.
    • Promote best practices in operational excellence, asset care, and technical development.
    • Improved technical capability, maintenance execution, and operational efficiency.
    • Enhanced training systems, maintenance practices, and operational standards.
    • Foster a culture of best practice and continuous improvement.

    Health, safety and compliance

    • Ensure compliance with company safety, engineering, legal, and food safety standards.
    • Ensure technical training incorporates safe operating procedures and legal requirements.
    • Support compliance with General Machinery Regulations, Driven Machinery Regulations, and applicable legislation.
    • Ensure equipment, utilities, installations, and maintenance activities meet food safety requirements.
    • Promote a strong safety culture across packaging and engineering teams.

    What It Takes to Succeed: Experience that set you up for success:

    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or packaging environments.
    • Experience with OEMs, packaging equipment, and technical systems.
    • Technical training, learning and development, or workplace skills development experience advantageous.
    • Assessment and moderation experience within technical or manufacturing environments advantageous.

    Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:

    • National Diploma / BTech / BSc in Engineering or completed Millwright trade test
    • SETA registration as an Assessor and Trainer advantageous.
    • Professional registration as a Moderator advantageous.
    • Registered Skills Development Facilitator advantageous.
    • NAMB Assessor and/or Trade Test Official Moderator advantageous.

    Marketing Manager

    Key Areas of Impact:

    Strategic brand, portfolio and category leadership

    • Lead I&J’s portfolio, brand positioning and category strategy, identifying priority categories, growth platforms and portfolio opportunities.
    • Lead annual brand planning and establish strategic frameworks across Trade Marketing, Sales, Innovation and agency partners.

    Consumer insight, marketing ingelligence and growth planning 

    • Lead consumer, category, market and competitor insight using research, data and commercial analysis.
    • Translate insights into growth opportunities, strategic priorities and evidence-based recommendations for Executive and cross-functional teams.

    Innovation and portfolio development

    • Set the strategic innovation agenda and govern the pipeline from opportunity identification through to business case and launch.
    • Partner cross functionally to prioritise commercially viable initiatives and lead portfolio review, renovation, rationalisation and value optimisation.

    Integrated brand communication, media and agency leadership

    • Define integrated brand, creative, digital, PR, content and media strategies aligned to brand plans.
    • Lead agency direction, strategic briefs and Advertising and Promotion (A&P) allocation, ensuring effective delivery within agreed standards, budgets and timelines.

    Commercial performance and marketing effectiveness

    • Share accountability for sales, margin, market share, brand health and portfolio performance.
    • Lead marketing budgeting, forecasting and performance reviews, using ROI and commercial measures to optimise marketing effectiveness.

    Strategic leadership and cross functional governance

    • Set strategic marketing priorities, standards and decision frameworks across the business.
    • Partner with Trade Marketing to translate brand and portfolio strategy into effective channel and customer execution.
    • Lead cross-functional marketing and innovation forums, influencing senior stakeholders to achieve alignment and delivery.

    What It Takes to Succeed:
    Experience that set you up for success:                       

    • Minimum 10 years’ FMCG experience, including leadership of a multi-brand portfolio in food, frozen, chilled or consumer goods.
    • Proven delivery across portfolio and brand strategy, consumer insight, innovation, integrated communications, agency leadership and commercial performance.
    • Experience presenting strategic recommendations to Executive stakeholders and leading complex cross functional marketing programmes.

    Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:

    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Commerce, Business Science or similar.

    Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:

    • Power BI, Circana, NielsenIQ, IRI or similar syndicated data exposure knowledge - advantageous
    • Experience in Brand strategy, consumer insight, innovation, project management or commercial finance would be advantageous
