    Specialist: Food Services

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for development, implementation and steering of local concepts, processes, systems and tools for food services for all BMW entities in South Africa based on the requirements of the served entities, aligned with the BMW Group wide framework provided by the governance functions and compliant with all local legal regulations.
    • Responsible for local implementation and steering of BMW Group wide policies, concepts, processes, systems and tools for food services.
    • Responsible for operational planning and steering of execution of food services processes and measures for the supported entities.
    • Responsible for meeting all legal, compliance and regulatory requirements for food services related topics incl. consultancy and enabling of the management about liabilities of the company.
    • Responsible for advising and enabling of all disciplinary leaders of the served entities to fulfil employer‘s obligations regarding occupational safety and health management, compliant with all local legal regulations.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Ensure legal, regulatory and BMW Food Safety Guideline compliance of all food services provided.
    • Plan and implement activities and programmes for food services with service providers.
    • Ensure compliance and close-out throughout reviews, inspections and audits.
    • Coordinate and maintain safety, sanitation and maintenance programme for food services.
    • Steer and monitor customer satisfaction and ensure corrective actions are effective.
    • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality and / or service.
    • Coordinate activities with internal partners as necessary, such as facility and building management for utility modifications, equipment installations, repairs, etc.
    • Monitor the performance of the service providers with KPIs and steer non-performance accordingly.
    • Ensure documentation is maintained for all key accountabilities.
    • Manage all tender specifications for all food service contracts in line with BMW Group purchasing policies.
    • Collaborate with BMW Group on projects, programmes and initiatives.
    • Develop and implement a food service strategy for BMW Group South Africa.
    • Forecast, monitor and control budget provision for food services in collaboration with the financial controlling team.

    STRATEGIC OUTLOOK

    • Align, implement and maintain the BMW Group global food services strategy in South Africa.
    • Ensure a reliable and flexible food service offering that is able to react on short term changes to working hours.
    • Agile decision-making to protect the Company representatives and assets in the case of catering / hygiene incidents.
    • Share and learn from best practices within the BMW Group.
    • Seek innovative solutions to existing problems.
    • Ensure food services are contemporary and progressive.    

    COMMUNICATION SCOPE

    • Alignment of food services activities with BMW Group standards across all areas of responsibility.
    • Excellent working relationships with central CoC for food services in regional and central areas.
    • External interface with service provider to achieve success in areas of responsibility and accountability.   

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • NQF 6 qualification in Hospitality / Hotel / Restaurant Management with additional qualifications in Finance / Business Management.   
    • 3+ years of professional experience in Food Services management in a corporate and industrial environment.
    • Experience in the automobile manufacturing industry is preferred.
    • Extensive experience in supplier management across multiple entities and requirements.  

    SKILLS

    • High analytical acumen.
    • Detailed knowledge of the relevant BMW business operations, processes, standards and procedures.
    • Comprehensive understanding of the related legal requirements for food services.
    • Comprehensive understanding of the BMW IMS.
    • Experience in systems auditing and root cause analysis.
    • Extensive knowledge of food safety including ISO 22000 and HACCP standards.
    • Excellent people management, project management and communication skills.
    • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills to enable conflict resolution.
    • Flexibility and mental agility to deal with uncertainty and pressure.

    Process Supporter

    Purpose of the Job:

    • You will be responsible to plan, lead, organize and control all aspects and activities within the specific work unit to ensure the hourly achievement of targets (quality, cost, delivery and safety) and continuous improvement through the technical supervision of direct associates, coaching and training of associates and all line activities while improving all relevant standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • To drive of daily work organisation within areas of responsibility in order to drive effective communication within the production system.
    • To achieve hourly volume targets through proactively managing and initiating containment action, immediate problem solving and/or escalation when necessary.
    • To identify non-conformances, provide all customer concerns to the associates, initiate problem solving and implement robust processes to exceed customer satisfaction.
    • To ensure process adherence, optimise and observe core processes through daily process conformation to ensure stability and continuous improvement.
    • To control and contribute to the allocated section budget as cost per unit target in order for the section to remain profitable and cost effective.
    • To maintain a healthy and safe environment through enforcing compliance to JMS requirements
    • To ensure versatility within the team through coaching, training and development, and collaboration with associates with the support of the process leader.
    • Ensure 4-eye principle is performed diligently.
    • During breakdown of tools, ensure contingency plan is activated while breakdown is being attended to.
    • Prepares and leads 5-minute-meeting with Associates.
    • Holds a shift handover conversation with counter-part.
    • Establishes machine start according to checklist, ensuring production capability.
    • Repair minor reworks online.
    • Raise near-hits monthly on PowerApp.
    • Maintain Process board daily.
    • Adhere to standard work for leaders.
    • Update attendance on App daily.

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

    • Minimum National Diploma (Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Logistics/Operations)
    • Minimum 2 years automotive/manufacturing industry experience.
    • Minimum 1 year technical specific experience would be an advantage.
    • Minimum 1 year leadership experience would be an advantage.
    • Knowledge of company policies and guidelines.
    • Risk Management.
    • JMS Systems.
    • Product/Process Knowledge would be an advantage.
    • Problem solving methodologies.
    • Leadership skill.
