Our client are a highly successful fund manager specialising in infrastructure and renewable energy sectors in emerging markets. The offer a new approach to funding infrastructure, through which social impact, economic returns and operating infrastructure will be delivered in a faster and simpler manner. As part of their growth plans, they are looking to take on an ESG Manager to join their team in Cape Town.
Reporting to the Head of ESG, you will be responsible for all aspects of environmental and social governance relating to investments, project development and project construction for the African portfolio.

To be successful in the role you will have the following experience

• Masters Degree in an ESG relevant discipline
• 10+ years of experience in ESG management
• Strong knowledge of environmental and social issues ideally in relation to the renewable energy sector
• Ability to set up and implement environmental and social management systems
• Experience working in the African market is a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Key responsibilities will include
• ESG due diligence to support the investment team
• Provide project related advice and guidance for E&S management
• Project governance and management including the preparation of documents and participation in project management meetings
• Oversee the implementation of environmental and social action plans
• Development and implementation of community development programs
• Monitoring (desk and field based) of the environmental and social performance of projects

Our client is a successful fund manager that operates within the Renewable Energy market, based in Cape Town. With a focus in the Wind, Solar and Hydro sector. The role will involve the development, construction and re-financing of projects. The company have a long-term vision to conduct financial facilities around Africa to adapt to climate change. To do this they have raised a fund of over $500 million to finance these Renewable Energy infrastructure projects.
The candidate is required to work within the transactional team and will be co-responsible for growing their portfolio by developing, negotiating and closing renewable energy opportunities. The individual will report to a key stakeholder within the business and be a key member in the African Management Team.
Key Responsibilities include

• Business development - to build a strong pipeline of potential investment opportunities
• Oversight of financial modelling/analytic analysis of transactions
• Management of due diligence work-streams
• Presentation of investment proposals
• Management of overall transaction process, workstreams and timelines
• Actively work with portfolio companies' post-investment.
• Coach a team of Junior Investment Managers and Analysts
• Key Requirements include
• 8 - 12 years' experience within Private Equity or Investment Banking (M&A, corporate finance or project finance)
• Experience in the Renewable Energy sector
• Proven ability to work across technical/financial and legal aspects of a transaction
• Strong financial modelling skills and attention to detail
• Financial acumen - demonstrate knowledge of financial principles
• French language skills (Desired)

Our client is a successful Investment Manager focused on Renewable Energy. Current offices in various locations throughout Africa. A core focus of the role includes the evaluation of existing portfolio companies and optimising their production. As well as looking at potential new investments.
Key Requirements include

• 2-5 years' experience working with Infrastructure or Renewable Energy
• Strong Quantitative skills
• Merger and Acquisition (M&A) experience
• Project Finance
• Project Valuation experience
• French/Portuguese (Favourable)
• This position will give you the ability to work within a well-structured company, operating within a growing multimillion-dollar fund, which has already surpassed $200 million. Our client's current portfolio includes a focus on Solar energy along with other renewable projects.
