WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• As the primary Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, deploying and managing Mama Money’s Data Lake and Data Warehouse solution on AWS cloud provider. Working closely with the DevOps, Development, and Data teams, you will provide data solutions as we migrate to microservices, with the aim of making data easily available to the business so that data-driven decision making can be applied.

KEY FOCUS AREAS:

• Developing, constructing, testing and maintaining architectures
• Build infrastructure to automate extremely high volumes of data delivery and creatively solve data volume and scaling challenges.
• Contribute to the design and architecture of innovative solutions to difficult problems.
• Aligning architecture with business requirements
• Data acquisition
• Data pipelining - extraction and transformation.
• Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
• Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling
• Use data to discover tasks that can be automated

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD HAVE

• 5 + years’ experience in a Data Engineering role building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
• Constructing data acquisition, warehousing, and reporting solutions.
• Advanced SQL, Python expertise.
• Exposure to AWS Infrastructure and managing IaC.
• Experience working within a Linux environment would be ideal.

• Interpreting​ ​data, ​ ​analyse​ ​results​ ​using​ ​statistical​ ​techniques​ ​, and​ ​provide ongoing​ ​reports.
• Develop​ ​and​ ​implement​ ​databases, ​ ​data​ ​collection​ ​systems, ​ ​data​ ​analytics and​ ​other​ ​strategies​ ​that​ ​optimize​ ​statistical​ ​efficiency​ ​and​ ​quality
• Acquire​ ​data​ ​from​ ​primary​ ​or​ ​secondary​ ​data​ ​sources​ ​and​ ​maintaining databases/data​ ​systems.
• Identify,​ ​analyse,​ ​and​ ​interpret​ ​trends​ ​or​ ​patterns​ ​in​ ​complex​ ​data​ ​sets.
• Locate​ ​and​ ​define​ ​new​ ​process​ ​improvement​ ​opportunities.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD HAVE

• 3 + years’ proven working experience as a BI analyst.
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
• Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks.
• Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
• Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms.
• High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large scale databases.
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
• Understanding of addressing and metadata standards.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for getting the job done, independently whilst constantly growing and developing the ongoing demands of this role.
• Demonstrates a structured and methodical way of working, with the ability to cope with competing demands and effectively prioritize tasks.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and negotiation skills
• Someone who has a bias for action and can get things done
• Experienced in working with and integrating a dashboarding tool to provide insights, ideally Tableau.

IT WILL BE A BONUS IF YOU HAVE

• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, R, Python, etc).
• A degree with a focus in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics.
