    Assistant Marketing Manager

    What will you do?
    Santam Brand Services team has a position available for an Assistant Marketing Manager who will be based at their Head Office in Tygervalley, Bellville.

    The person will be responsible for assisting with the development and activation of marketing activities across the commercial, region and segment solutions business that strengthens the Santam brand and drives profitable growth. The successful candidate should have 3-5 year’s marketing, digital and agency experience, and a thorough understanding of the financial services industry, with 3-5 years marketing experience.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Provide support to Commercial Lines Marketing Manager in developing and executing marketing strategies and plans.
    • Conduct environmental scanning to inform marketing strategies and plans. 
    • Assist in translating marketing strategies into practical plans that are well executed in the identified target segments.
    • Assist the marketing manager by coordinating both internal and external elements including campaign development and production. 
    • Liaise with other business units to ensure that initiatives are coordinated to create a shared focus. 
    • Liaise with outsourced suppliers and manage integration across suppliers and communication channels.
    • Monitor, track and report on marketing performance.
    • Closely monitor and track budgets and expense reports.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or equivalent
    • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
    • At least 3 - 5 years related marketing experience in the financial services and preferably the insurance industry. 
    • Proven experience in the advertising, digital and media industry and related processes
    • Proven experience in the development of marketing plans and the successful execution thereof 
    • Practical experience in running integrated, through-the-line campaigns 
    • Proven experience in digital and content marketing with excellent copy writing skills
    • Excellent communication, project management and problem-solving skills
    • Good at building partnerships and sustainable relationships
    • Innovative, creative and deadline driven
    • FAIS qualification would be beneficial (e.g. NQF level 4 or 7 credits; RE or KI)
    • May be required to travel throughout South Africa

    Head: Risk Management and Governance

    What will you do?

    • The role is in the first line of defence, meaning within management control.
    • The role is to support Intermediated Business in applying risk management processes and techniques with the aim of increasing awareness, ownership and management of risks leading to improved business performance.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Relevant qualification in Business Management qualification.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in insurance or financial services. 
    • At least over 3 years middle or senior management experience.
    • Experience in managing teams.
    • Strong business skills and acumen.
    • Risk management expertise 
    • Audit expertise 
    • Analytical thinking 
    • Practical legal knowledge

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Compliance
    • Chair the Santam Regulatory Steering Committee (where regulations are monitored, interpreted and implemented throughout IB).
    • Keep up to date with regulatory developments in the financial services industry. 
    • Drive and ensure (with the support of IB management) adequate Compliance within IB.
    • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; monitor corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance to business on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future (supported by Group Compliance).
    • With the assistance of and advice of Group Compliance where required, attend to regulatory compliance queries received from business and provide appropriate technical compliance advice and assistance to business. 

    Enterprise Risks

    Work with Santam’s IB Management and support Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”), Group Compliance and Business Integrity Teams to ensure overall delivery on the agreed Risk Management priorities for Intermediated Business. Responsibilities include:

    1. providing input in the Santam Group’s Combined Assurance Framework
    2. conducting risk assessments where requested by ERM
    3. assisting business in documenting and maintaining risk registers and Business Continuity Plans
    4. obtaining a good understanding of the business environment, including strategic and operational goals in order to identify new and emerging risks
    5. monitoring exposures compared to the risk appetite
    6. developing a set of actionable and targeted change programmes to best improve management of the risk environment
    7. providing oversight over premium collecting brokers and contracting to ensure that Santam is not exposed to unnecessary risks or risks exceeding its risk appetite.
    8. leading the Agency Maintenance Team that is primarily responsible for on-boarding new Brokers/Intermediaries (including vetting of supporting application and onboarding documents. 
    9. Monitoring of license status and other risk management documentation)

    Quality Assurance

    • Lead the Quality Assurance Team that is primarily responsible for
    • Quality Assurance Audits/Reviews (on existing business partners/brokers).
    • Due Diligence Reviews (on potential new Brokers/Intermediaries).
    • Ownership of IB’s end-to-end contracting process (between Brokers/Intermediaries and Santam)(with the assistance of and advice of Corporate Legal Services team)
    • IB’s contract management.
    • Regulatory Reporting and Notification.
    • Regulatory Query Management and Responses.

    Data Transformation

    • Manage and support IB’s Information Manager in implementing IB’s and Santam‘s Data Transformation 
    • Strategy (as directed by Santam’s Head: Group Finance and Data Transformation)
    • Member of IB Management Committee whose primary role is to exercise general oversight 
    • responsibility with respect to the operations of the Intermediated Business and to direct the business:

    Claims Service Consultant: Desktop

    What will you do?
    The purpose of this position is to determine the quantum and merit of segmented non motor claims by performing investigations, verifying the description of the event with the loss, negotiation (with client, intermediary, service providers) and settlement of claims within a delegated threshold and according to contract conditions.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Accountable for all claim interactions directly with the client/broker. 
    • Determine merits, quantum, item identification, buying.
    • Negotiating and settling of claims with the insured/broker. 
    • Responsible for communicating with the client/broker from beginning to end and is the one contact person for the client/broker
    • Ensures that the claim is handled efficiently.
    • Effectively manages all relevant claims tasks and claims handling process to achieve timely settlement and to minimise leakage
    • Identifies, investigates and resolves any issues relating to claims being handled in line with Santam policies and procedures such as Service Level Agreements, Standard Operating Procedures. 
    • Ensures that the claim is handled efficiently and identify and advise the intermediary/policyholder of the prescribed or most appropriate mechanism for resolving claims settlement disputes.
    • Communicate the process from the start of the claim and act as contact person if the client needs more information. 

    Qualification and Experience

    • Matric/ Grade 12
    • 3 years short-term claims experience
    • Previous geyser claims handling experience
    • Personal & Commercial policy experience
    • Experience with regards to assessment of Non-Motor claims
